I have a funny story: When I was in elementary school, they posted these huge horizontal posters all over the school that highlighted a big celebrity at the time with whatever message they were pushing. They changed them out every month, and when a new one was installed, they gave away the old one by a random drawing to students. Well, I won one of those posters and the celebrity on mine was… Patrick Swayze. And yes, I hung that huge poster in my bedroom; it took up almost the entire wall. This is so embarrassing, but I used to practice kissing by kissing Patrick on that poster. Patrick Swayze was one of my first big celebrity crushes when I was younger and starting to like boys. Oh, those innocent days… LOL

I was babysitting a young girl the summer after this came out. She insisted on watching it every day and to practice all the dances. I can’t watch this movie because of that summer. The dancer, who I always call Rowdy because of her yelling, in the blue and black polka dotted top was Jennifer Stahl. She was murdered along with two of her guests in 2001 by a man who came to her apartment to buy marijuana. It became known as the Carnegie Deli Massacre. Two people survived.

Don’t feel bad about not loving the movie. As a kid I adored it, as an adult I can appreciate it but also see the flaws in it. It’s not one I’ve watched often myself for that reason. But I am glad I got to watch it with you, and that you found Lisa as annoying as I do haha. Though I think that was intentional.

Also can I just tell you how embarrassing it was to watch this in the theater with my parents when I was 13? Too much sexy dancing! 😂

I avoided this movie for twenty years before finally watching it. Then that first time, I thought, well, it's got it's moments. It's not nearly as bad as I expected. Then I watched it again about a year later, and I liked it quite a bit more. I think I like it a little more every time I see it now, and I'm probably up to about 6 or 7 times. It's not high art or anything, but not every enjoyable movie has to be.

Reminds me of when I was 13 and went to see Lifeforce in the theater with my parents. Whole lot of full frontal nudity in that one.

It was only after seeing this movie that I understood what my dad was saying about doing "the dirty boogie" when he was a lad. As the movie played, I was thinking, "OMG, _that's_ what he was doing?"

At 6:56ish in the video I love how big and round your eyes get, and stay, while watching the employees dancing. I laughed so hard during this. - New Patreon subscriber, just poking my head in.
