I’m so fricken excited that you watched this

Ok. Nice! Haven't watched this movie in over a decade. Pretty fun film tho. Enjoyable.

This pairs with amadeus

Mark Finley

first movie you've watched that I've never heard of before. Not my cup of tea, but I respect that you tried it with an open mind.

PickettsChargingPort

Oh, man. I thought this was Logan's Run! Sort of disappointed, now.

I saw this when it first came out. I forgot most of this movie. It may have seemed short by today's standard but a lot of "B" movies in the 30s and 40s were from one hour to an hour and fifteen minutes. If you are open to foreign films then you should check out The Seven Samurai or Das Boot.

Gio Vidrio

I’m surprised you didn’t recognize Franka Potente. You might have last saw her in AHS Asylum. She played the “supposed” real Anne Frank. Since she’s a German actress, and with a notable movie slate behind her belt, Ryan Murphy definitely decided to cast her in that role. Nice reaction, but yeah it stinks that the ending leaves you thinking of all the countless possibilities that happened to Lola. Also, this is the first reaction in a while that you haven’t rated it. All good, my guess is you have it a 3.5 out of 5 stars. Keep up the great work Ash. ✌🏼🎉

I haven’t seen this movie in 20 years, but I don’t think it’s that she’s controlling time, you’re just being shown different paths the story could take. But again, it’s been forever so I could be wrong.

If this gets you interested in more foreign films I would Suggest the Director's cut of Das Boot, WWII submarine movie.

The dubbed version was so well done that you can't tell it's dubbed. This movie made me feel real claustrophobic. I recommended this also along with The Seven Samurai for great foreign films.

Anonymous

I recommend the director's cut because it is, literally, a happy medium of the three available versions. I watch the dubbed too because there is just too much going on.. And I'll see your Seven Samurai and raise you a Yojimbo.

christopher brown

A Good dubbed movie is Goodbye Lenin 2003 and a movie that has a similar idea is Source Code 2011

Edward Olson

I don't think anything stinks about the ending. I think the bright red hair and more youthful appearance make her less recognizable than in her later works.

I haven't seen that one but seeing as how Toshira Mifune is in it, I will have to check it out sometime. I have seen other Japanese films but I don't remember the names as it was a while ago. I most remember him from the movie Red Sun, a western with Charles Bronson.

Snow Goon

I really enjoy seeing the different versions of Lola's reality in this movie. It's just an interesting look at what all could happen if she makes small changes in her decisions.

Jill Peterson

I adore this actor; she is amazing! This is a strange film. I'm glad you watched it.

David Patterson

I love movies that leave you wondering. They make for better discussions with friends.

Cristina Collins-Armstrong

I did a paper on this film a few years ago. My theory is that the first time around is the real time and the other two are actually her death dreams, with the third dream giving her the happy ending in death she couldn't get in life. One of the fun things about this film is that it is open up to many different interpretations.

Very surprising choice and I'm not mad. Glad you liked it. If you haven't seen the Netflix show Sense8, please please PLEASE consider reacting to it. It's only 2 seasons long and you will have to blur a lot of the sexy bits, but its fantastic and I bet you haven't ever seen anything like it. For foreign films - You should check out the Chinese wuxia films "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon", "Hero", and "Curse of the Golden Flower". They are AMAZING. Australian movies, check out "Muriel's Wedding" for a funny, light-hearted time.

Good to watch a film like this one.

Now that foreign films are no longer off the table, there are many which are classics of world cinema. Here are just a few which I expect you'll like as much as do most cinephiles. Seven Samurai (1954 Japan), arguably Akira Kurosawa's masterpiece. On pretty much everyone's top ten list of greatest films. (3 1/2 hours, but the time flies by) Breathless (1960 France), a touchstone of the French New Wave. A thief on the run. Bicycle Thieves (1948 Italy), a foundational film of Italian Neo-realism. Touching tale of a father and son in post-war Italy. Seven Beauties (1975 Italy), Lina Wertmuller's masterful tale of a small-time gangster's journey in WWII Italy (the dubbed version is excellent) Battleship Potemkin (1925 Russia silent) Sergei Eisenstein's affecting retelling of a mutiny during the 1905 revolution.

The idea of doing more foreign films got me thinking of Come and See (1985) directed by Elem Klimov. For those of us who've seen it you all know that one would be the reaction of a lifetime. It's the best anti-war movie you'll ever see as well as one of the most difficult to watch. honestly I consider it one of the movies that frightens me the most

I've been avoiding Lola for over 20 years, not giving in now...
