Hilarious. So much fun to watch.

Great review of a brilliant film. Loved watching your reaction to a film I'd put in the top ten films of all time. The Alien films after aren't that good at all. Maybe watch Alien 3 as it continues the story but go into it with lower expectations.

Anonymous

Love your reactions. When Bishop was attacked by mama alien the look on your face was awesome. Michael Biehn, who was Hicks, was also in a couple of good sci-fi movies you need to see. He was in the Abyss, which was directed by James Cameron. He was also in The Terminator. The sequel to Terminator, T2, is just as good or better than the first. You would enjoy them as much as this one.

I said it before, and I'll say it again: I think the workprint (also referred to as the "Special Edition") of Alien³ is as great as Alien and Aliens, but you have to go in expecting it to upend everything that happened in Aliens. It is a follow-up, but right from the opening credits it will be clear that it's going in a drastically different direction, and that it's more like the original in being a horror sci-fi movie. Obviously, I don't want to give too much away. Your review of this one made me simultaneously think it would and wouldn't bother you, so I don't know what you'd think. The fourth film is not as bad as people say it is, but far less essential than the other three. Of course, if you get to three, you might as well finish by watching the fourth one (the Alien vs. Predator movies and Prometheus/Alien: Covenant are more like spin-offs than sequels, and I don't really recommend them).

Watching Sunday Morning feels odd, but okay

Aliens > All other Alien franchise movies. I love the video and the reactions. Especially “ if that thing moves” with me knowing it was coming. I laughed out loud, literally at the reaction. Thanks for a great Sunday morning surprise.

Another great reaction, and yet another Sunday where I "cheated", and watched the MMM before Monday. In fact, I've cheated since I joined your Patreon, every damned week. :) Yeah, the second and third films aren't near as much fun, though Alien: Resurrection is goofy enough to be mildly entertaining. Thanks so much for starting my day off with some laughs and some fun! Take good care!

Great reaction. It is so exciting and satisfying to watch you enjoy these timeless movies. I’m so happy you’re discovering them. 🤗 (Jazz hands)

As for Alien 3 ... remember the feeling you had at Ripley’s nightmare in the hospital bed? Like, if that happens, I’m out! That’s not it, but what does happen will still give you that feeling. You’ll be pissed. Guaranteed. 🤬 The ppl who like it are those sci-fi ppl who love the xenomorph story more than Ripley’s. (If you’re a sci-if person, I would still wait awhile before watching it.)

The director, James Cameron, is one to watch. He wrote Aliens and Terminator 1 & 2, which will give you the same reaction as here: 1st one is damn good; 2nd one even better. (Cameron also wrote Titanic & Avatar.)

Anonymous

Yeah. And you can skip every other Terminator film after T2.

Be Kind

Did you know it was the CGI from The Abyss that gave him the idea for Terminator 2? And that he was the actual artist who drew the sketch of Rose in Titanic? I am in awe of his talent. 😲

Be Kind

He’s also doing a TV series based on True Lies, not a ground-breaking film but still fun. Bill Paxton was in that one too; they were friends. (RIP)

Be Kind, don't spoil the end of Titanic for Ashleigh. She doesn't know it sinks!

Gio Vidrio

Might wanna change that title before it launches tomorrow Ash. Aliens came out in 1986. Probably the most successful and profited movie that year, and yes let’s not even bother with the lack luster sequels that came after James Cameron showed up and took the reigns on this one. Great reaction as usual!

Edward Olson

Alien3 could have been acceptable except it SHIT on "Aliens" and how people loved the characters.

Edward Olson

And technically speaking, this is the "Special Edition" as there is no "Director's Cut."

That was one of the incentives for me to join — I just could NOT wait until Monday. But now, I watch both ... just so I still have something for Monday and to add another view (and poss comment) to her YT page. Yep, my life is slow right now. 🤓

You called it. Aliens is one of the very few sequels that is as good or better than the first one. Now I'm going to suggest another 80's movie for you, with actors you already know and love, that is great. Big Trouble in Little China (1986) with Kurt Russell and Kim Cattrall. Directed by John Carpenter, who also directed The Thing (which you reviewed and liked) and Halloween.

Brent Fugett

Outstanding review Ashleigh! One word... Avatar. You will ♥️♥️♥️ it.

FUN FACT!...... the picture shown of ripley's daughter is actualy a picture of Sigourney her mother Elizabeth Inglis

I for one would love for you to do Alien 3. No, it is not better than the first two, and it does mess with the happy ending that Aliens set up... But it is just so damn interesting in its narrative and stylistic choices. Very bold and very brutal, with a great ending (I think). Also, the behind the scenes production was nuts! Way too many reactors stop after the first two films, so if you were to continue, you would be doing something different. A few bonus notes for Aliens: -The old woman in the photo (Ripley's daughter) is Sigourney's mother. -This was Carrie Henn (Newt)'s only film role. She showed up to the audition because her brother was auditioning (and they had a scene together at the beginning). Also, she kept messing up the scene were she slides down the chute on purpose, because it was fun! -Paul Reiser's character (Burke) was so hated, that his mother cheered in the cinema when he was killed. -Giant explosion at the end, was a light bulb and some cotton.

Wow. That was intense. Still not a fan of sci-fi/horror, but glad I now know more about the premise of the Alien franchise.

Anonymous

Just a quick note: Aliens is from 1986, but the youtube title says 1997.

Great review....never saw the director's cut which shows Newt's backstory....I can remember seeing this movie and "The Fly"(which would also be a great review subject...just sayin) over the summer of '86 and then around Halloween season that same year they were rereleased as a double feature...also I spend about half my time at my job driving a forklift and I've been waiting for years for those robot mover siut thingies to come out! :)

Robot mover SUIT thingies...dang it!

Tyler Foster

Deeply disagree. The reason I love Alien³ is because of the way it continues to deepen and develop Ripley's story specifically. I think Sigourney Weaver gives her best performance of the series in Alien³. She was and remains the emotional core, even when those emotions are rough.

Tyler Foster

The behind-the-scenes problems on Alien³ are the reason to seek out the "Special Edition" for that one too, as that restores the film to the last edit of the movie that David Fincher worked on before he quit. The Blu-ray version even updated it with new dialogue recorded by Sigourney Weaver and Charles S. Dutton that was never completed back in 1992.

Was your avatar always diff on your YT sub page vs the YT video page? Or have I just never noticed? Either way, they both look nice. 🙂

Currently up for me when I click.

Thomas Yanez

And, if you're going to do more John Carpenter / Kurt Russell collaborations, might as well do "Escape from New York", too. Maybe even "Elvis". But, you do not need to do "Escape from L.A."

Thomas Yanez

I also support giving "Alien³" a chance. When I binge "Alien" movies, I always watch it. That said, I also almost never watch #4. Just... just... no.
