This one is good but a few of his earlier works are the best. Drunken Master series is him in some of his best stunt work.

Anonymous

hey thanks so glad you enjoyed it, you basically had the right take, story whatever, but the fights and stunts are insane.

Anonymous

dub vs sub is a big debate with people. i have a rule dub is ok when jackie dubs himslelf

Anonymous

I'm a huge jackie chan fan, I think any of his hk work from the mid 80s through the 90s is the best stuff. My logic was introduce her to Jackie the same way most of America got introduced. Also didn't want to throw a forien language film at her yet.

Anonymous

Yes that's Jackie's voice

Joseph Ricks

This was so fun! It's been years since I got to see a Jackie Chan movie with someone for the first time, this was delightful

christopher brown

Jackie was almost killed by in a stunt the Armour of god he hit his head on a wall he has a hole in his head (check out Jackie Chan's Police story and Enter the Dragon with Bruce Lee)

Anonymous

great pick, Jackie Chan is awesome and yes i agree its a violent dance and is beautiful.

Anonymous

Police story is my favorite jackie chan film, I didn't have her do that one because the English dub is bad and maybe get her into subtitled movie after she kind of knows the ropes

Jackie Chan is famous for doing all his own stunts. He’s broken every bone in his body, I believe. And, as you saw, his fighting choreography is amazing. Great personality too — he seems sweet and funny and witty.

Be Kind

Have you heard of Bruce Lee? He’s revered as prob the best martial artist of all time. He died long ago, unfortunately, but his movie ENTER THE DRAGON is a classic. Maybe we can watch it at some point. BTW, Jackie Chan is still alive and lives in Hong Kong.

DanZ

I get such a kick outa you.... I was smiling through the whole thing.... Thanks

Everyone was trying to imitate Bruce Lee. Jackie realized he would not stand out that way, so he added comedy to his fights. When he hit someone hard, he’d shake his hand and wince to show it hurt. It’s his signature style that you picked up on, and it did make him stand out.

Be Kind

One of Jackie’s biggest franchises is RUSH HOUR where he teams up w/an American cop. It’s a Hollywood movie, not dubbed. That’s a good one to watch too.

Great reaction as always, Ashleigh, I love anything Jackie Chan! Thank you to those that suggested this for you, I wouldn't have thought to suggest him

Be Kind

Enjoyed the vid. Bc of the edit, I thought it was why I lost the story. So funny to hear you say you lost it too even though you saw the whole film. 🤣

Anonymous

I love Jackie Chan! Did you know that, in his entire acting history, he broke every single bone in his body including his back from jumping of a wall into a tree (his worst ingury to date)

Anonymous

You realy should watch also The Police Story and Wheels on Meals is also very good!

Anonymous

Like the bloopers. A good Jackie Chan movie to check out is Drunken Master. A funny movie is this genre (without Jackie Chan) is They Call Me Bruce.

Ken - Kendo161

oo I was about to take a nap, it can wait now.

Ken - Kendo161

there are some good docs on Jackie, yes he does his own stunts

Anonymous

The second drunken master. He doesn't smooth out the choreography and make them look like real fights and not dances until the early 80s

Ken - Kendo161

Jackie has his own stunt crew that he worked with

Anonymous

Also...... First Strike is a.k.a. Police Story 4: First Strike

Edward Olson

BTW, that wasn't Jackie Chan in the white ski suit flipping from the snowmobile in the end credits. That was another stunt performer.

STOP! Cracks me up every damn time.

You asked a lot of questions throughout the movie and I opened a notepad and tried to answer some: Not billion dollars. Billion Ukrainian. Currently it's not so devalued. But Venezuelan Bolivars are. One US Dollar is equal to 130 billion Bolivars. That was a common flip phone in the 90s. Probably wouldn't have worked way out where he was. Yes, they had a silent option. Plug in to charge, same as today. This was released in a longer 1hr47min version in China a year before the 1hr27min English language version. The actress who played Annie didn't seem to speak much English, so her scene talking to the Australian girl seemed unnatural. She was only 17 when this was filmed. He didn't say F***. He said "Mark." Ski scenes in action movies are actually not uncommon. See James Bond, etc. You can get out of the ice if it's thick enough and you're strong and limber. How thick the ice is depends on how cold it is outside. The insult about his singing is funny because he's well-known as a singer in China and started out in Chinese opera. North Face started in 1968 in San Francisco. Jackie Chan didn't use a stunt double back then except in verrrrry rare circumstances. He has the injuries to prove it. No, he wasn't the stunt man in the white suit who flipped off the snowmobile through the trees. In more recent movies, insurance requires the use of stunt double for the most part. If he's injured, it can shut down an entire movie for 6+ weeks. Tom Cruise learned this a couple of years ago. Dragon dancers are traditional for Chinese festivals and events. Police on horseback can move between cars, on sidewalks, on uneven ground, and are up high enough to see over the heads of people and most cars. Jackie Chan isn't tiny. He's 5' 8 1/4" so that one guy really was huge. The other wasn't as huge but was wearing a padded suit that made his head look small. Sea Urchins are underwater sea creatures related to Starfish and Sand Dollars with venomed spines AND can bite.

Just saw your post about doing your unboxing you may want to open the one from me while you're not on video to save the ugly cry

Anonymous

Jackie was given an Oscar because he basically came up with the idea of an action comedy.

Anonymous

Yup i can remember Jackiemania from the 90s....other great US releases were "Rumble in the Bronx" and "Supercop"(Pretty sure the Hong Kong title was Police Story 2)....and i guess it's not really a RomCom but I'd like to put out a request for "It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World" (1963) which was one of the funniest movies I've ever seen

Anonymous

first strike is police story 4, and supercop is police story 3

Gio Vidrio

Glad you’re hopping into Jackie Chan flicks Ash! I will say the next ones to see would be Rush Hour, Shanghai Noon, & Shanghai Knights (which is better than the first). Yes, Jackie does his own stunts and you’ll begin to see almost all the movies he began throughout most of his career has post credit scenes full of bloopers, LIKE YOU. Keep up the amazing work.

awkwardashleigh

but ugly cry makes for good video - if I shouldn't show the camera/read it out loud, let me know!

Anonymous

There is a letter you shouldn't read out loud.

Anonymous

loved the extra content at the end!

Anonymous

He did his best work in the '80 imo.... Top 5: (in no particualar order) Police Story '85 Armour of God '87 Wheels on Meals '84 The Protector '85 Project A '83

Anonymous
