Unfortunately, Homelander and Maeve could not have saved the plane. In the universe that The Boys takes place, it is much closer to reality than most comic books. Hands are about 5 to 7 inches across. Trying to push up on the plane and hold its entire weight in just those two small areas would cause their hands to just punch through the skin of the plane. I don't believe there is any single part of the plane that could support that much weight in such a relatively small area and so the plane would just break apart.
