Today, I delved into real-time audio pitch shifting in Bitwig Studio. Big shoutout to Boro, one of my awesome Patreon supporters, for giving me this tip. This method is easier to set up and more efficient than what I've shown you in the past.
Key Points:
- Initial Setup: I set up a step sequencer with random pitches and used the Polymer synthesizer to produce sound. Added some reverb, delay, and peak limiter for better audio quality.
- Creating Pitch-Shifting Delays: I used the FX Grid in Bitwig to add mod delay. To modulate the delay, I used an LFO and made sure that the timing of the LFO matches the mod delay.
- Avoiding Audio Pops and Cracks: Utilized a 'mirror' device to shape the LFO into a triangle wave. This eliminates the crackling sound by lowering the volume when the delay buffer switches back.
- Voice Stacking for Unique Effects: Took it up a notch by using Bitwig's voice stacking feature. I created multiple voices with different pitch-shifting and panning settings to create a diverse audio landscape.
- Additional Audio Shaping: You can add more filters and effects like band-pass or all-pass filters for different voices. Demonstrated how to create a grainy, ambient sound.
- Patreon Benefits: All the presets and sequences used in this video are available for download on my Patreon.
So there you have it. This is a simplified but efficient way to create interesting audio pitch shifting effects in Bitwig Studio.
