I attempted to replicate Harmony Bloom, a polyrhythm generator, in Bitwig Studio, and here's a brief overview of how it went:

  • Harmony Bloom Overview: It generates notes with user-defined quantities and lengths, along with a loop length for timing cycles. Users can adjust note probability, offset notes for polyrhythms, and apply quantized or speed offsets to vary the rhythm dynamics.
  • Harmony Boom (My Bitwig Preset): This is my attempt to recreate Harmony Bloom. While it mostly succeeds, there are limitations, such as a maximum of 60 notes (compared to Harmony Bloom's 82). It allows for note generation, pitch adjustments, and the use of voice stacking to create complex rhythms. Users can also specify note collections and adjust parameters like probability and note length to shape their rhythms.
  • Differences & Features: Harmony Boom lacks the visual appeal of Harmony Bloom and has some feature limitations. However, it supports a degree of customization, such as free or quantized note offsets and pattern lengths. It also includes a pitch quantizer for scaling notes and offers a method to spread pitches across selected intervals.
  • Availability: The Harmony Boom preset is available on my Patreon, possibly as a free download or at a low tier.

In summary, while not a perfect replication, Harmony Boom introduces a similar polyrhythmic capability within Bitwig Studio, albeit with some constraints and less visual flair compared to Harmony Bloom.

Harmony Bloom replaced in Bitwig

I've received a lot of requests about Harmony Bloom from @marionietoworld and whether it could be recreated in @bitwig Here's my attempt. Of course, the plugin is much prettier and maybe easier to use. You can download the preset from my Patreon and play around with it. -- 💕 Support me on Patreon: https://bit.ly/3PgbxZz 💰 or donate via Paypal: https://bit.ly/3cae9t8 🎧 Buy my Music: https://polarity.bandcamp.com/ 💾 Download my Tools / Github / Resources: https://polarity-dnb.de/blog/polarity-music-tools-samples-and-bitwig-presets-update-2019.html 💻 Check out my gear on Kit: https://kit.co/polarity/polarity-music-kit -- DEALZ: 🛒 Buy Bitwig Studio & Support me https://bit.ly/3yQEyDU 🛒 Upgrade Bitwig Studio & Support me https://bit.ly/3OimEjc 🛒 VST/AU Plugin Deals https://bit.ly/3zcvo66 -- SOCIAL MEDIA Discord: https://discord.gg/eWwFBww Blog: https://polarity-dnb.de/blog/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/polarity Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/user/polarity-berlin/ Business Inquiries: robert@polarity-dnb.de Paypal Donations: donate@polarity-dnb.de

In college, I “changed my major” a few times. Now I see Musical Engineer would have been the ideal choice. 😁👍

Clever and useful! Had thought about getting HB. Might still do so, at some point (because research). As usual with your “Grid alternatives to third-party plugins”, an advantage here is in adapting the tool to our needs… and we're mostly missing UI niceties. There's a lot of potential from the “Use Chords” input, especially if we pair it with some kind of chorder. My experiments with this will likely focus on producing patterns with different note lengths. Basically, I'd like a kind of “groove generator” within this. And within BWS as a whole. One of the main features I miss from my limited experience with Live is groove pool.
