probably my least favorite of Peele's films but still a fun and enjoyable watch! My understanding or take on the whole Gordy thing is that Jupe thought he had some special connection with animals after the Gordy incident because Gordy didn't attack him like everyone else and instead tried going for the fist bump. But a really cool detail i caught was how Daniel's character was always making a statement as to not look wild animals in the eyes and during the Gordy incident when Gordy walked towards Jupe there was the cloth that draped over the table that was covering most of Jupe's face so Gordy couldnt actually make eye contact with him which is probably the only reason he wasn't attacked but Jupe thought this meant he was special in some way towards wild animals which led him to believing he could actually some how tame the alien and use it for his own gain.

Such a cool take on the space vs cowboy theme. This has become one of my favorite horror movies, even though according to what else populates this genre, I think this movie is better positioned somewhere between thriller and horror. It was both beautiful, horrifying and creative. Also, It felt like the movie was trying to say something interesting.

This film does an amazing job with its symbolisms and the themes that it conquers. Firstly, the events of Gordy's home and the events unfolding in the present are juxtaposed together to show how people have a false understanding of nature, animals, and their behaviors. The whole film is about exploitation and how we all can't help but stare at spectacles. I was pleasantly surprised by the film when I first watched it and reeeeally loved the sound design and how suspenseful it was in the beginning. I also loved how it changed pace in the end and became this hunt for a creature akin to something like Spielberg's Jaws. Also as an avid anime watcher, just loved the lil nods to Akira and Evangelion. Creature design at the end was amazing.
