I know you probably won't see this comment, but you should watch Ginny and Georgia

You are going to enjoy this, and I am going to enjoy watching you enjoy this

Vince Ledezma

OMG you need to first watch the original 90s movies before you see this I'm sorry but you messed up. Or at least don't go back to watch 90s version after this

Vince Ledezma

She doesn't even know Christina Ricci s Wednesday!!!!

Jack Burton

They were saying Nat isn't familiar with Ricci's version of Wednesday not the she is Wednesday in this show.

Richard Maurer

I get that but I was just pointing out who CR plays in this show. The original post was somewhat strangely worded.

Eddie Green

I didn't know Ricci had played Wednesday either. I'd never watched a second of Addams Family content before this show. Still enjoyed it though. Not a requirement to know the history.

Eddie Green

I'm sorry but she didn't mess up. They're separate adaptations. It's not at all like watching Endgame before Iron Man, for example.

I wasn't all that enthused about this show when it first came out, Tim Burton is pretty hit or miss for me. More miss than hit, to be honest. But having seen some pretty positive reviews from sources I trust, I decided to give it a shot. I'm two episodes in at this point and while I'll likely never be all "OMG this is the best thing ever!", I do find it pretty enjoyable.

Richard Maurer

Yes, it was way better than I expected too. Ended up watching the whole series in four days, which is really quick for me.

*Sings* I'm not a suuub, and don't forget it. It's juust a silly phase I'm going through!* (I mean, obviously, I am a sub, but you put that song in my head, so...)

Not gonna lie, I had planned to skip this show entirely because I am generally tired of Hollywood (or insert applicable location if it wasn't filmed there) regurgitating the same IP's over and over again. (I was fine with the initial Addams Family movies after the TV show, but they've tried other iterations since and just... meh.) The Addams Family has been done to death, some versions better than others, and I also thought I was tired of Tim Burton, so this whole idea was a big "pass" for me. BUT.... ...you decided to watch it, and you have a knack for coming at a lot of this with perspectives I'd never have on my own, so I thought "Eh, why not." And I'm glad I did, because I genuinely loved this first episode. Though I am with you on that extremely Burtonesque werewolf, it took me out of the episode for a second. It's not even that I took issue with the style, so much as it just didn't FIT the scene. It had a weird "Roger Rabbit" like juxtaposition. Like, if the whole show was peppered with cartoony moments like that, it'd be one thing. (Like if the piranhas had been cartoony piranhas, for example. But they weren't.) It felt like an indulgence that didn't help the show necessarily. But that's literally the only qualm I had with any of it. Sidenote, the fencing was, I think, a callback to the show and movies, as her father Gomez frequently would fence people just for fun.

Richard Maurer

I wish just once Tim Burton would make a monster in his live action stuff that was actually "realistic", as in didn't look like they escaped from Nightmare Before Christmas. I had the same problem with Beetlejuice, the cartoon monsters kept taking me out of the action.

Nick Luce

I'm sad daredevil didn't win the poll, but I'm currently watching Alex Hefner watch daredevil so this all works out beautifully. I can watch two of my favorite reactors simultaneously.

Kate

I didn't know Alex reacted to shows!! Thanks for the info omg I'm gonna go watch him rn

The Addams Family movie with the late Raul Julia as Gómez and Angelica Houston as Morticia is still to me the best version and overall casting of the family. Not that it's necessary to watch that prior to this show, but I would still recommend just because of the great cast and performances and to have just a bit more context on Wednesday and her background. Also seeing Christina Ricci as an even younger version of Wednesday is just funny and adorable especially with her being on this show now so many years later.

MJ Eid

My one complaint about this series is the awful cgi on the monster

Joe Blankenship

Natalie, have you not seen the Addams Family movie from the 90s? It'll fill you in on all things Addams.
