This is a great movie. I am looking forward to your reaction!

"What do you mean a young Matt Damon, this film only came out...shit"

Anonymous

Great movie. Blew me away when I watched it years ago. Very interesting exploration of morality

Andy Crawley

Definitely one of Scorsese’s best films, looking forward to seeing how you handled the tension haha!

James Tyrrell

Jumped to 2:19 to see how broken you were at that scene, not surprised by the look of mental denial that crossed your face.

Trish Murphy

I’ve seen this movie at least 6 times so I thought I could watch along without running the movie as I’m getting ready for an appt. Nope. Gotta come back later to watch along. It’s an intense movie but I think it’s really well done. Can’t wait to see your reaction. Peace

Danishprince

Never actually seen this so interested in seing what it's like!

......................................................guess we'te tryin' to milk more money by making Deadpool next week or WE.... GG I guess.....?

Dante

This is my 3rd favorite movie! I absolutely love it Matt Damon and Leonardo DiCaprio absolutely killed their roles!

Darryl Low

First time watching this movie too Nat, and I was aghast at the end like you. So well made, so many plot twists and the cast were all incredible. Thanks for ending the week on such a WOW, with this movie and your Spidey Live too. Thanks as always for all your amazing work this week. Have a great weekend Nat 💛

dieselbeast

I think this is the first movie you've reacted too under the gangster/Mafia mob movies, you definitely have to keep going down this rabbit hole and watch Scarface, Carlitos way, Goodfellas, and obviously the godfather movies

Anonymous

Gotta watch Goodfellas if you haven’t …..so much to explore if you do a Marty run thru….Mean Streets, Raging Bull, Taxi Driver, King of Comedy, After Hours, Aviator, Gangs of New York just a few, truly on my short list of favorite film makers of all time (tho that’s probably a common thing)

john collins

This movie is so good! They never explain what's in the envelope that Billy gives Madelyn but I think that it must have been evidence against Sullivan and something telling her to find Mark Whalbergs character which led to him finding and killing Sullivan at the end of the movie.

Belendor229

If you liked the attention to detail and major themes coming back around in a high stakes drama environment I would highly suggest the show: The Wire. It is a gritty show, that like this movie, doesn't portray cops and robbers in the traditional TV show manner. You feel like the people you are watching on screen could be real. Not the cheesy bad guys who feel zero remorse, blow up a few a cars in a chase, only to inevitably get caught by the shining savior good guy cop. Rather it is designed to give an overview on the inner workings within a major city in America, its politics, its troubles (both with crime and the struggle for some just to survive in the real world), and its people. It is a little dated, mostly from a technology point of view, but IMO I would consider it modern day classic.

I cannot WAIT to see your reaction to the elevator scene. I saw the Hong Kong original a few years before this movie came out, and despite the fact that pretty much the exact same thing happens in THEIR elevator scene, it was still quite a shock. I saw The Departed on opening weekend...you should've heard the yelp from the audience that night!

Tay Schumaker

Are you a cop? ARE YOU A COP?!

Ben Wheeler

The last 15 minutes are insane

Joe Blankenship

This was my first time watching too and yeah, I definitely need to watch it again to fully enjoy it. If you liked this then you gotta add Goodfellas and Casino to your polls.

Anonymous

What a great movie, that was a fun rewatch! Oh yeah, good luck, Cameron!

Tom Chan

Would like to see you check out The Town. Another gritty drama

Anonymous

You should react to Hacksaw Ridge !

The Golgothan

For like a month after seeing this movie my friends and I would just yell "AH YOU A CAWP" at each other randomly. We definitely gotta throw in some more gritty crime dramas in the mix. The Godfather, Goodfellas, Casino, A Bronx Tale, and maybe some less gritty crime comedies like 29th Street, Stnatch, and Get Shorty

JarHead0351

Good Movie but Godfathers 1 & 2 are better - No country for old man is a good movie but I think it isn't your type of movie - As A Marine, Full Metal Jacket is a great movie Platoon & Apocalypse are other good movies - that my taste and think you would enjoy "Now You See Me" what you saw isn't what you really saw

Thomas Richter

Please watch No Country For Old Man next it is such a good movie.

Thomas Richter

Also, it is a movie with a lot of silent long shots, so it's easy to comentate over.

Jason

Fun fact, in Hong Kong Original, Shang-Chi's father, Tony Leung is the actor played Leo's character

Brian Jones

Great reaction as always Nat, and props to Cameron on the editing job ahead. As many have already mentioned, if you haven't seen Goodfellas it should go on your list immediately and is an absolute must watch. Gangs of New York is also an incredible Scorsese film. Hell, most all his films are. Stay golden.

Joe D. MacGuffinstuff

Loved this one, great reaction to a bad ass movie. And I would absolutely love to see more reactions to crime dramas. Lot of great suggestions above. Damn I'm getting old because I'm starting to watch the shows I used to make fun of my parents for watching lol all this detective stuff Anyway, seconding some previous suggestions and adding a few: Heat,Training Day, Gangs of New York, No Country For Old Men, I know was already in a poll, True Romance, Drive might win some day, or just watch it. Then there are crime comedies like, Nice Guys (with Ryan Gosling, so there ya go lol), Snatch, Clue, a lot more choices.

minuteforce

This was my third time watching "The Departed". The climax is still so riveting

Eddie Green

I've never been able to see a scene set in an elevator without being tense since this film.

Patrick Toscano

Next time you watch look for the X marks found in the background of certain scenes which foreshadows characters marked for death.

Anonymous

Glad you enjoyed it Natalie. I hope you check out the original film that inspired this, Infernal Affairs. You may even recognise one of the leads from a recent Marvel film. 😀

Anonymous

10/10 Film! Was great "watching" with you. Love your reactions.

Trish Murphy

Hardest part for Cam will be editing the every other word f-bombs. I love this film. I actually worked in the building that they used as 344 Washington. That was fun. Natalie I definitely recommend seeing it again. It’s so intense that you definitely miss stuff. Or at least I did. If you want a polar opposite film but with your favorite Scarlet Johansson & also Matt Damon try We Bought a Zoo. If you haven’t seen it already. Fun, heart warming & a complete departure from this one and all of the superhero movies. Thanks ✌️☃️

Whatever people think of Scorcese, this is a another caliber of storytelling. I've seen the Hong Kong original and I really think Scorcese took the right parts and made it his own. Great to see you appreciated it. FYI pastor boys are colloquially known as altar boys

RebRox65

Everytime this movie comes up I end up saying the same thing, so here goes A very decent job by Hollywood to reproduce this Hong-Kong cinematic masterpiece, but its no match for the original Andrew Lau movie INFERAL AFFAIRS 1 when it comes to action movies Asian cinema has a lot to offer over its Western counterparts, its a shame Hollywood didn't continue the franchise as I feel INFERNAL AFFAIRS 2 is the better of the 3, I And worthy of tracking down.

Logan Kerlee

I'm glad that you finally watched this! Definitely set the bar for movies for the next good few years after this came out. Hard to believe that this was made in 2006! I graduated that year for crying out loud! Anyway, yeah, great flick! Really happy that you watched it with us and that you enjoyed it. :)

Skizane

To my great surprise, I didn't much care for this movie. Or at least its ending. BANG "AH HA! I'm a double agent, with nothing setting up my character but one line of dialogue two and a half hours ago and I haven't been in the movie since!" BANG BANG "AH HAA! I am also a double agent, and I will now kill this other double agent and this cop to make it easier for me to cover my tracks!" BANG "AH HAAA! I'm the avenging angel character, despite despising the character I'm supposed to be avenging! Now everybody's dead and all the twists and turns in the story mean nothing! You might as well have killed the entire cast in a car bomb!" It actually reminds me of Tony Scott's movies. It seems like he can never think of an ending, because almost all of his movies end in a big shootout where everybody dies and there's no point to any of the plot that came before it.

Damn. My favorite movie lost. The departed is still a good one but man i was hoping

James finneran

You should watch Michael Mann’s 1995 movie Heat. The style, look and characters our just amazing.

Anonymous

Excited to watch this... You definitely need to watch Whiplash though. Easily one of the best films made in recent years

Ashar Saleem

I joined the Patreon, just so I could see Natalie's unfiltered reactions to Mark Wahlberg's dialogue. Some of the best I've seen

Anonymous

I would also highly recommend "Shutter Island" another one of great Martin Scorsese and Leo DiCarprio pieces.

Did you notice the X in locations where characters got killed * Billy in the airport * Queenan at 344 Wash * Sullivan walking to his apartment(look at the carpet)

Eddie

Love her perspective on dramas like this. Wish she did more drama/serious movies.
