Didn't expect this until next week, thought we would be getting The Wolferine today <3

Where’s Days of future past?

Looking forward to another great reaction with a great movie

The Wolverine is before Days of Future Past, so it will probably be a couple weeks

Happy Friday, Natalie! 😊 I'm downloading this right now so that I can watch it later tonight. This is one of my favorite Christmas movies. And I love the stop-motion animation used for this film. Looking forward to watching this reaction this evening. Have a great day today! 😊 Stay Golden! 💛

I worked on Henry Selick's most recent stop-motion feature "Wendell & Wild" as a Story Artist at Netflix Animation. One of the best experiences of my career, stunning models and sets, and the man himself is a peculiar genius who feels like he walked out of one of his worlds. Hope you consider watching it when it comes out next Halloween.

Darryl Low

Hope you had a really good day yesterday Nat 😊 Not watched this movie for a while, but been looking forward to see what you make of it. Danny Elfman always provides just the right score for this type of movie. And I'm glad you prefer Gene Wilder's Willy Wonka. The new Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is on my list of movies to never watch again 😄 I'm glad you had fun watching this movie Nat. A lot of crazy and creepy characters, really cool designs and some catchy tunes. Look forward to watching the next holiday movie with you. Thanks for an entertaining video today and thanks as always for all your content this week. Have a brilliant weekend Nat 💛

One of my faves, been watched twice a year since around 1994, so I'm getting my second dose early after watching it this Halloween.

Ian

Happy Friday nat you certainly surprised us with this one, like everyone else was expecting this next week 😀 have to watch over the weekend though as I don't have time for a movie Fridays anymore but that being said I'm looking forward to it immensely 🥳 hope you have a fantastic weekend and as always ty for the content this week even though it was just Ted lasso for me it's still very much appreciated so many thanks and until next time stay golden 💛

Niklas

Would love to see you finish the X-Men movies.

Anonymous

She will, but she does have other patreon viewers who are burned out on the constant superhero movies/shows so it's only fair she takes a break for other content

The Golgothan

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is a poor example of Tim Burton's work. Even though you still haven't watched the Romero trilogy, I'm suggesting next Natmares should be a Tim Burton marathon (but specifically the following movies). Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, Sleepy Hollow, Corpse Bride, and Frankenweenie. *I realize that may be too many for one Natmares season. The first 3 are the big ones though. **He also made Batman(1989) and Batman Returns(1992) which you should also watch but another time

Sally's song is Fucking phenomenal, heart wrenching, and so Freaking important.....seriously....WTF...

Calo Grsf

Hi Nat and thank you for this new adorable (spooky haha) and funny reaction! 😄 I love this movie, the music/songs are really awesome, and the style is just great, the fact it's made entirely in stop-motion is absolutely great, and it's a change from what we're used to hahaha Seeing you have so much fun was just perfect 😄, I loved your reactions with Oogie Boogie and the Dr. Finkelstein (especially the brain's sharing moment)😆 and of course your were in good shape for several good lines that you have the secret 😛 I hope you're fine, take care, be safe and stay golden! 💛

Cory Stanish

Let's be honest, the whole reason Zero had a glowing nose is so he could be Jack's Rudolph; but I do like that there's some Halloween detail attached to it, since if you look closely you can see his nose is actually a tiny jack-o-lantern.

Hi, love this movie. I like all the songs even Sally's, they're very good and tie in the plot perfectly. Also Jack knows Sally for a lot longer than a few scenes, he's the Pumpkin King, he knows everyone in town. He knows her enough to know that she will make the perfect Santa costume, and he's very casual around her, he just didn't know she was interested in him that way.

Calo Grsf

I would place "Edward Scissorhands" for a "transition" film, like this one, however all the films you mention, deserve to be watched

So funny you think Santa blows his nose to fly. "And laying his finger aside of his nose, And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose" A Visit from St. Nicholas BY CLEMENT CLARKE MOORE

Myles Away

I love Sally's Song so much. It's so melancholy. A must listen is Fiona Apple's cover. It's brilliant

Jomero

Jack's (singing) voice is Danny Elfman, the man who wrote all the songs and music to this movie (and many, many, many others as well as writing famous TV intro songs.... like The Simpsons). He was originally the lead singer for a band called Oingo Boingo, but Tim Burton got him started on his very long career of scoring movies.

Opti_Frog

This is my traditional movie for x-mas eve. Watch it every year.

pedantech

You should watch VoicePlay's a cappella cover of Oogie Boogie's Song.

Joe Blankenship

This isn't one of my favorites. Every time I watch it, I get bored. It's a little overrated, in my opinion. But I understand why people really dig the look and aesthetic of it. I think James and the Giant Peach is a better 90s stop-motion movie. It's the same director and produced by Tim Burton.

This_Jedi_crafts

I think the music can be familiar because I think I've seen a couple of songs used on TikTok (for various videos). Might be used in Disney advertising as well. I think the Freeform network might use it when the advertise "31 days of Halloween?" Who knows - it's such a famous film - I'm sure the sound has been used in many places.

Logan Kerlee

It's such a surprise that this was your first time watching this! I mean, with all of what you said at the start - it makes sense. Still though! I have a few Jewish buddies who've totally seen this and loved it. :) Super glad that you enjoyed the movie. It's one that I try to watch each year around this time.

djKENTO

Anytime this movie comes up my cinema ocd pipes on and I have to yell “TIM BURTON DIDNT DIRECT THIS MOVIE!” That is all

Texas Anla'Shok

I thought of the perfect way to get the Halloweentown inhabitants to understand Christmas, get them to help put on "A Christmas Carol". Yes, we hardly see Jack and Sally interact, but they clearly know each other. Jack addresses her with great familiarity when they do talk.

This movie was produced and used a lot of Tim Burton's style and he influenced the film in many ways, but the real credit is to Henry Selick who also helped make Coraline and James and the Giant Peach (which if you haven't watched I recommend).

Taff Lewis

Thank you for this reaction. Suggestion for future animated reactions: pre-review the cast for this this one. Danny Elfman and Amy Lee singing Sally's song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i9rl6XEub1A

Nicholas Sulikowski

Someone else here had suggested that Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was a poor example of a Tim Burton film because he had done much better things. Oddly enough, I would suggest that this film isn't the best example of Tim Burton's work, but for different reasons. And that is because although the movie was produced by Burton, and the premise was based on a story written by Burton, ultimately the execution was by Henry Selick. Specifically, Henry Selick was the actual director of the film. And ultimately, there were many creative decisions that he would have made that would have gone far beyond Burton's story treatment. (Burton was largely busy directing Batman Returns.) And so I tend to credit this film far more to Henry Selick, because I think of all the small scale creative choices that happen in the execution vs. the setup. And that's not to say that Burton's role was small. It wasn't. He had a big presence. But ultimately Selick's role would influence a lot of smaller things that a treatment wouldn't deal with. When you think about Jack's chalkboard full of formulas about Christmas, or his experiments with Christmas objects, or Oogie's Boogie's Lair laid out in neon Vegas lights, or precisely how Sally poisons Dr. Finklestein, or the band leader being inside the band's cello, or the nesting Hydes, or Jack's bed being way too close to a fireplace. Not to mention the choice to have that many songs. These are all design choices that happen no in the script, but in the execution. And certainly certain elements of the animation style came back in later Selick, as he clearly sought to make his mark. Henry Selick would later direct James and the Giant Peach (produced by Burton and based on the book by Roald Dahl), and Coraline (based on the book by Neil Gaiman and not at all connected to Tim Burton).

If anyone needs a hand syncing the reaction to the movie on Disney+ you can use this: https://www.casper.live/ I used 315.7 as the offset and it synced up perfectly.

My hope is that you continue to hold the scum that made this trash to account. The primary objective of watching any movie should be to identify all the nazi rapists who make these kinds of movies and to destroy anyone that doesn't support social justice and equity. Please continue to fight! I fly a "black and red" flag, if you understand my meaning, I'm sure the inbred rednecks don't, but you know what I mean by that, am I right ;)

Joe D. MacGuffinstuff

That's so funny, I still haven't seen Elf all the way through, but what I've seen looks funny, and I love Will Ferrell in everything. Not gonna lie, I actually hate musicals, but for some reason I love Tim Burton musicals, Sweeney Todd was the first musical I'd ever seen that I liked, hated admitting it but I did. Danny Elfman is incredible, now I have to listen to some Oingo Boingo lol

Cripkie

I luv me some Christmas nostalgia. No matter how old me and my brothers get, when we come home to mum's for Chrissy we all regress back to our childhood.

Cripkie

wow, i havnt seen this since i was a little gromit. This is too cerebral for kids i think. Too much subtext. Im starting to think my childhood was full of subliminal conditioning from eccentric directors.

Cripkie

"they barely talked at all, but thats cute" basically sums up heterosexual courtship. Straight women are like fisherman. They have an extensive array of shiny/fancy lures that they fish with. Us men (the dumb fish) just have to bite one.

Anonymous

Yeah I f you haven't seen much Burton you should do a series through his best work. The obvious ones like pee wee, or beetlejuice sure. But you can't miss Ed Wood, or Big fish. Underrated, but two of his best.

Alan Kobb

He wasn't blowing his nose! :) From Twas the Night Before Christmas: "... He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work, and filled all the stockings; then turned with a jerk, and laying his finger aside his nose, and giving a nod, up the chimney he rose;" I'd think any good Jewish girl would know that! :-)

Garrick Smalley

I would love for you to watch VoicePlay's cover of the Oogie Boogie song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EbxkOntz2SA A lot of singers react to it so it might pass copywrite.

Alex Densmore

This was my best friend’s favourite movie. I watch always around this time of year. I cry when I watch this movie because I miss her so much but it’s a greats movie. I’m glad you liked it.

Julian Calzada

didn't realize you were into musicals. how about Central Park? Crazy Ex-Girlfriend? Flight of the Concords? HAMILTON?! O_o;
