Might not be a bad idea to watch all the old Spider-Man movies before No Way Home comes out!

Tony Johnson

I just rewatched this a couple of weeks ago, and now I have an excuse to watch it again!

Randee Carreno

Happy Friday, Natalie! 😊 I'm getting this downloaded right now so that I can watch it later tonight. This is such a fun movie! Looking forward to watching this reaction this evening. Have a great day & weekend! 😊 Stay Golden! 💛

Not Marvel Cinematic Universe. Yet.

JediLounger

I’m glad you enjoyed Spider-verse. I would strongly advise you revisit, or watch for the first time, the other Spider-Man movies. The third MCU Spider-Man film is going to bring multiple characters back, and it’s going to assume that you have seen these movies and know who these characters are and what their motivations and reasons for doing things are. They won’t just be sly references to some of the more unfortunate parts of the Sony Spider-Man history like it is in Spider-verse, I would guess they will be integral parts of the story, and I suspect you will have a better time watching it if you already have some history with the characters. Just my two cents.

Anonymous

Probably a lot to ask but you could watch the old Spider-Man films with the Maguire Trilogy and the Andrew Garfield movies and since the next Spider-Man film will probably release on streaming services in 3 months, and those old films may be related in some way to no way home. You can space out those 5 movies across those months!

Please watch first man with ryan gosling, the movie

Can’t wait to watch!

ButtyOh

I saw this in the cinema the day it came out. One of my favourite films that year and if someone asks me what my favourite spidey film is, i say this no hesitation

Jeff K

I love this movie so much, and Jake Johnson will always be one of my favorite Spider-Men. During the middle of the pandemic when kids were on lockdown, he created an email address for parents to send him emails and he responded with a voice message from "Peter B. Parker" personalized to the kids. I don't know whether he got back to everyone, but he definitely sent one for my son. Mad respect to him for taking the time to make kids happy.

Anonymous

the style also helps with the 3D movie set up which is what it was set up for.

Jeff K

Oh - and check the TV when they first introduce Uncle Aaron. It's showing an episode of Community where Donald Glover is dressed as Spider-Man. Donald Glover, in Spider-Man: Homecoming, is playing Uncle Aaron (he references Miles, but not by name, in the movie).

NotlobParrot

Can't waaaaait to watch when I get home today!! ACK!

Joel

Would love to see you do the Tobey Maguire films, they're a little corny but still really good!

Calo Grsf

Hi Nat and thanks for this new reaction! 😄 I really loved it, lots of laughs and smiles but as they say what would a Natalie Gold be without her tears 😆, I loved this film the first time around, my three favourite Spiderman's enemies (Doc oc, Green Goblin and Scorpion) being in the film must help, although the Green Goblin disappears too quickly for my liking and the Scorpion is only there as an "extra" haha however the female Doc Oc was a semi surprised, I didn't expect a female version here and it was nice. But the movie is really well done, whether it's for the animation style, the humour or the soundtrack. I cross my fingers for a reaction to Sam Raimi's Trilogy and The Amazing Spiderman films 🤞 I can't wait your next reactions! I hope you're fine, take care, be safe and stay golden! 💛

Darryl Low

I really enjoyed your reaction to this one Nat. A lot of laughs and also a lot of tears. I tried watching this movie before, buy struggled to engage with it and gave up, so this was my second dive into the Spiderverse. I stuck with it. It took 75 minutes to finally win me over, but I had fun with your commentary along the way, and yes there were tears along with yours. I always think that any movie that brings out the tears has done it's job of pulling you into the story and characters. Thanks for another great reaction today Nat, and as always, thanks for all your amazing work this week 😊 Have a brilliant weekend Nat 💛

When he just got his powers and his mom says something to him in Spanish, she says, "You know he loves you, right?"

Awesome. Cant wait to watch this later. Now that it is on Disney+, I am crossing my fingers that Shang Chi will be next. Cant wait to see you react to that. Stay golden😁

OMG this movie's in my top 3! Can't wait to watch it with you

DapperKnight

Hey nat just In case you didn't know shang chi and legend of the ten rings just dropped today on Disney+ and I can't wait for you to see it

You may wanna watch all of the previous Spider-Man movies before No Way Home comes out, as they are going to be VERY relevant, hint hint.

Steven Hok

Loved watching this again with you Nat. Such a good movie!

Danishprince

So glad this one won the poll! It's is pure perfection imo and defenitely the best Spider-Man movie we've gotten so far :D

Kevin

thought it was gonna be x-men D:

As a huge Spider-Man fan, this is one of my favorite movies. One of the cool things that was done for the movie was in the beginning they have Miles at lower frames per second to have him seem a little chunkier than everything around him and towards the end when he starts to gain his confidence in himself as Spider-Man his frames per second are increased. I think that’s just such an awesome aspect

Brandon Scott

This is defiantly one of my favorite superhero films of all time (not only animated but just overall). I'm glad you got a chance to see it...there were some nods in there to the Sony Spiderman films that you wouldn't have been able to catch but I think it will make for some fun moments if you ever react to those. Anyway, this was great. Glad to be back into Marvel.

LJ Mickey

This movie is one of those hidden gems, even though it won an academy award for best animated picture. Great to see you react to this. Amazing movie and can't wait for a sequel.

This is a really fun movie. It's very loosely based on a Spider-Man event called "Spider-Verse" but they sort of just took concepts and made their own thing. All of the characters (minus the female Doc Ock, don't remember ever seeing her before this movie) are all real characters/versions that appear in the comics. Miles was actually created and introduced in 2011 in an updated re-telling of Spider-Man called "Ultimate Spider-Man" after they decided to kill that universes Peter Parker. Spider-Ham is the oldest version (1983), while the rest are much newer. Spider-Man Noir was 2009, and the girls were both created for the "Spider-Verse" event. There's a lot of other fun characters that popped up and were created for that. Kingpin is always depicted as large, but he's probably the biggest I've seen here. In that universe though, villains are larger/more intimidating, like the Goblin. End credits with "Miguel" is Miguel O'Hara, the Spider-Man of 2099, showing up in the first animated version of Spider-Man. Also a parody of the two Spider-Man's pointing at each other meme.

Jomero

The end-credits scene is kind of an inside-joke wrapped inside of a deep-cut. So not everyone will quite get it. The Spider-Man in question is from a line of comics about Marvel characters from the future (and what their futuristic versions would be like). It was a line of comics created in the mid-'90s all set in the year 2099 (and didn't last more than a few years). He was Spider-Man 2099. He jumped back into the Spider-Man cartoon from the '60s. But the "Spider-Man pointing" from that cartoon has been a meme in recent years. They probably didn't need to spend another million or so dollars to direct, act, and animate that bumper. But it was fan service, and we fans felt it was worth the money spent. The other "end credits" was just a treat to hear Chris Pine singing, of course.

Also replying to myself so I don't spam. Gwen Stacy was created as a character pretty early on in Spider-Man's history. She was his first serious girlfriend. As Peter's gone on, there's always been the idea that Peter could have easily become an awful/evil villain given the bullying and his early attitude, were it not for his aunt and uncle and Ben's death. So in Gwen's world we found out that she was bitten instead of Peter. As a response to bullying, he creates a concoction and becomes a regular OG Spider-Man villain named The Lizard. Because of what he used, she wasn't able to save him, and thus he's sort of her motivating force. It was very poetic. And if anyone says "well, not exactly", I'm omitting some things on purpose.

Andrew Howard

Absolutely loved this movie the first time I saw it. The animation alone would have sold me, but the writing, and character development, and the humor all push it way over the top. Glad more people keep seeing it!

DaMarkiM

finally! ive been waiting for this one for so long!! Glad you enjoyed it, even if many of the characters/ideas were new to you.

Ilsuk Yang

Nicholas Cage plays the black-and-white Spider-Man (or Spider-Man Noir). This is easily one of the best Spider-Man movies (maybe the best one, I go back and forth between this movie and Spider-Man 2 as my favorite Spider-Man movies). This movie has the laughs, the emotion, the action, the story (well, a lot of stories), the character development, the score, the sound effects, basically it's got it all. Anyways, glad you enjoyed it Nat!

kikoyito

Finally out of work and can enjoy this movie again! Not only is it my favorite Spiderman movie, but my favorite superhero movie. Really illustrates the potential animation has as a medium. So glad you watched this movie Nat!

This_Jedi_crafts

I'm so glad you reacted to this film. When I first saw that previews (years ago), I rolled my eyes and thought, "Do we REALLY need more Spider-Man movies?" THEN I saw it and "Mind BLOWN!" Amazing animation and direction and the innovation just blew me away. So glad you enjoyed it.

This_Jedi_crafts

...not to mention - FINALLY diversity in the MCU! So happy Marvel/ SONY - especially with ETERNALS is embracing the way the world looks now.

Steve J

If you're looking for another animated movie that at first glance doesn't sounds like it should be as good as it is, check out the LEGO Movie. I think has the same producers and a lot of the creative team. At face value sounds like it should be ridiculous, but like this movie has a whole other level of heart behind the story.

NFXx

So awesome watching you react to this, love this film. Also you should definitely watch the all of the Toby and Andrew Spider-Man films before Spider-Man: No Way Home comes out. Or rather once it’s available on Disney+. Without giving anything away, all I can say is it’s gonna be required to watch those films.

Erik Stevenson

Was glad this one won the poll; this is my favorite comic-book movie of all time. I think they really strike an incredible balance between comedy & heart, and this was the movie that really convinced the studios that if it's done well they can make a multi-verse story work, which we're now seeing play out in both the DC and MCU. Plus as you mentioned the cast and voice acting is incredible!

Gary Giaimo

The Miles-accepting-his-destiny scene is arguably one of the greatest scenes of all time; I can't help but get emotional every time I see it. So beautifully constructed with the perfect song in tow. Just a really great movie all-around and by far my favorite Spider-man movie.

Anonymous

And for the record, Miguel at the end is Miguel O'Hara, the Spider-Man from the year 2099, voiced by Oscar Isaac. The "pointing Spider-Men" is a reference to a well-known internet meme pulled from the Spider-Man cartoon series from the '60's.

Alex B

My favorite part of how the animation can add to the story telling is that miles is animated at a lower frame per sec compared to Peter until the forest scene where Peter teaches miles how to web swing, and miles catches up to Peter in frames per sec animation

Flux

You should watch Netflix's Mitchells vs The Machines its produced by the same duo as spiderverse and is also a sony pictures production.

Richard Ryan

I used to have the first issue of Spider-Ham. He shared the spotlight of his comic with the likes of Captain Americat, Hulk Bunny and even a side-story featuring Goose Rider. For more on that, search "Earth 8311". ...Good times. What I want to know is what's the source for Peni Parker?

Anonymous

I've seen this movie like 10 times, and it still makes me tear up.

Kraackin

watch the witcher

Misty Crom

I had the thing of really having to pee but waiting through the end credits when I went to see Spiderman Homecoming... Where the end-credit thing is Captain America saying about how sometimes patience isn't rewarded. Yeah... Also, Pine was younger Peter Parker and Nic Cage was Spiderman-Noir. And hey, is a sign of a good movie, when you completely forgot about your snacks. Oh, also-also, Haley Steinfeld (Gwen Stacey) will be in Hawkeye!

Joel Palenychka

Now that you've seen this you need to watch the "Everything Great About" video for this movie. He highlights so many details about the animation and how it was used to such incredible effect for this film. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ubmvZ-CUrQ

Anonymous

Absolutely! Miles was the first half black/half Puerto Rican not only in the Spider-Man universe, but probably distinct as a whole. He was an idea inspired by Obama.

JayF

Steinfeld was amazing in True Grit. I'd love to see Natalie react to that one.

Logan Kerlee

HOLY CRAP THAT WAS AWESOME!! lmao, so that was my first time watching this movie. I had so much fun watching this. Huge thanks to everyone that suggested it. :) I loved each of the characters and the story was very emotionally gripping. It made me feel things. xD Big fan of this one! I'm looking forward to the sequel mid next year, on Apr 8, 2022. :)

Logan Kerlee

Spider-Man 2 was always my least favorite. Why did you enjoy it so much? I'd love to have a new perspective on it. :)

Anonymous

I remember i bought the AJ1s he wore in this movie. Took my daughter, who is mixed, to see this and she loved the fact that he was bi-racial. Representation matters and Miles has brought a lot of new fans into the comic book world.

Essero Eson

I'm glad the power sets with multiple powers didn't confuse you this video. I laughed so hard when you forgot that Angel could fly AND shoot explodie fire balls out of her mouth. Miles has like 5 powers, not even including the mechanical assists like his web shooters.

ButtyOh

You seemed surprised that Nick Cage was part of the cast. Unsurprisingly he voiced Spiderman Noir

Chris (darkwater)

Love Spider-Gwen :) More Spider-Gwen! ... not that there's more to watch yet.. just I'd like more of the character..

Jack Mellor

This movie is one of the first movies in a while that I immediately wanted to rewatch again. The film has such a fast pace with an absurd amount of detail to the animation that can be easily overlooked. Like perhaps you’ll notice this in the YT edit, but when the scientist screams “He stole the bagel” as Peter and Miles run to the door, and Peter chucks the bagel back at them, it hits the scientist with a little caption above that says “BAGEL!” XD You can just tell, that the crew had fun with this movie. Also, this is the first time in a while, when I’ve genuinely been excited about a sequel. Call me a man of poor taste, I’m not keen much at all with the MCU Spidey. Something about it just feels…separate, in a way that doesn’t grab me at all, like it’s not…the Spider-Man universe of characters and villains, if you follow me, even though it’s got Vulture and Vision in it…just doesn’t gel for me at all. Into the Spider-Verse on the other hand, looks and feels so colourful, vibrant, smart and unique and well handled and told in its vision, that I WANT to see more of these characters, you know!

The 'upstate New York' thing cracked me up. I grew up in the Hudson Valley area so Ive spent my entire life telling people im from 'Upstate New York' cause if you dont say that, non NYers think you mean NYC and NYC people think everything 45 mins away or more is 'Upstate'. Random comment but it's always fun when you see/ meet someone who gets it lol

Rek

If you haven't already, you should check out the Daredevil series on Netflix.

Marcus Carter

shang-chi is now available on disney plus!!!!!!!!

Mr. Avatar

For films that have credit scenes, you should do your movie commentary during the credits until those scenes pop up, instead of after the movie stops. Just a suggestion. 😀

Mr. Avatar

Oh and by the way, in your commentary you mention it felt more like a video game until the movie started going, part of that was by design. From IMDB: "Every part of the movie runs at 24 fps, a common frame rate for animated films, except Miles. For a good chunk of the film, Miles animates at 12 fps, showing his inexperience as Spider-Man. As the film continues though, Miles gradually speeds up to the average 24 fps." It gets smooth right when Miles first starts to get the hang of swinging. 👍

Shazam is another kid turn superhero in the DC comic books with Superman & Batman & Wonderwoman & Aquaman & Green Lantern

If you’re a fan of this style of writing and comedy, I recommend checking out The Lego Movie franchise. That’s my favorite thing Lord and Miller have ever worked on.

Yay! I loved watching this again with you! It's such an amazing movie, powerful, powerful story and breathtaking animation :) So glad you liked it too, stay golden!

Not sure if anyone else mentioned this, but the little pig Spider-Man was from an actual satirical comic book called "Spider-Ham" - and his name is "Peter Porker"... it was back in the early 80's. I know this because I somehow had a copy (I was 4). I didn't realize that I had that memory buried in my in my head, so when he appeared on screen I nearly spat out my snack (I do indeed always grab a drink... and a snack ;) )

G. T. Blackwell

I think a reaction video for Blade would be fun. Just my two cents.

Anonymous

I’m not sure if anybody mentioned it or not, but with the new Spider-Man coming out you might want to watch the Andrew Garfield amazing Spider-Man version as well as the Toby Maguire versions as well

How do you sync up the videos, it won’t allow me to play 2 videos at once
