The final Thrones Thursday is here. I think after the previous one, most felt the same going into the final episode Nat, and hearing you making the same comments that most made as the episode played out, and watching you processing the craziness, and seeing the disappointment in your face, felt all too familiar. I loved you whispering "What's going on?" It summed it all up. You took us through the highs and lows of Westeros in exactly 7 months Nat. Feb 23rd - Sep 23rd 2021. Crying at dragons, screaming at zombies and laughing at Tyrion's jokes (well, most of the time), but always brilliantly entertaining us along the way. I really enjoyed your outro critique. Thanks Nat, and also thanks to Tyler for his always interesting comments, and looking forward to hearing what he thought of the final season 💛

I don't even want to watch the video. Which pretty much sums up my feelings and overall enthusiasm about how they decided to conclude this once wonderful series. Once upon a time, GOT was the first show since Star Trek and Stargate that got me excited enough to want to see every episode and buy merchandise And really go all in in terms of fandom. But by episode 3 of season 8, I didn't know what I was watching anymore. By the end, I had lost all interest. I was so utterly disgusted with the spectacular seppuku that they decided to commit with this story. And I've said a million times before, it's not exactly the ending they chose... It's the way they chose to get there. If we were given 30 episodes for this end to play out, I'm 100% sure that I would have found a way to accept it. But in 13 episodes, as it ended up happening, it was just too much too fast and very poorly done. I no longer have any interest in recommending the show to anyone. I hardly even rewatch episodes or clips anymore. What's the point? And that's sad.

Would love to see you watch The Expanse, Nat. I know a lot of people call it “Game of Thrones in space” but that’s unfair to the show imo. It’s MUCH better than GoT, well written, has amazing set pieces and beautiful shots, and is based off the best Sci-Fi book series of the last decade. Considering how much you love Firefly and Star Wars (while it’s not really that similar to either besides being SciFi and space). I know you’d love all the characters. Hoping after Natmare Season it gets a chance! It is a bit longer (5 seasons currently 6th and final season slated to come out late this year or early next year) but it’s well worth it.

I wish I could've watched this final season in realtime with you and everyone else, but my stupid HBO Max has been refusing to stream properly this past week. And it's not my connection or browser, because literally EVERYthing else is fine, EXCEPT HBO Max. (I should have stuck with Amazon Prime, but I reeeeally didn't want to buy seasons 7 or 8.) I might just watch the YouTube version once that comes out.

Happy Thursday, Natalie! 😊 Since this is the finale episode I'm going to watch it right away. I really enjoyed watching this series with you. This was the first time I've ever seen this show(aside from the S6 finale episode), and enjoyed it for the most part. I'd have to say that the first 4 maybe 5 seasons were my favorite. 2 years ago when this aired, I had soo much to criticize about the choices they made this season. 2 years on, it all feels like wasted breath. Because none of the things we hate about season 8 were ideas that failed despite the best efforts of the showrunners. That would have been worthy of artistic criticism. But the ending failed because David and Dan simply lost any passion/love/respect they had for this story and wanted to move on. And rather than give the reigns to other writers who love the story and want to do it justice, they just ran all of it to the ground. That's why I think this feels more of a 'slap to the face' (like you said) rather than their best efforts not being good enough. I feel sorry mostly for the amazing production crew (you should definitely watch The Last Watch documentary about them) who redefined TV forever and the actors who dedicated a decade of their lives to this show (no doubt turning down many other projects ) because they really deserved better. On a slightly more optimistic note, a prequel show about the Targaryan civil war is coming up 2022 and I think it has great potential, so hopefully you will watch it when it comes out. Thanks for all the amazing moments throughout this show Natalie. Its been a pleasure! Onto more stories!

Interesting reliving this series with you, and hearing your thoughts on how it all came to an end. There were def highs and lows (to the extreme), but it is a shame those last 4 eps especially really tarnished what was otherwise something special. Oh well, there are many other great things out there to watch!

Speaking of which, how's about giving The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance a go? It is very different to anything you've put on the channel, but honestly one of the best written, produced, and (voice) acted things I've seen in years.

Here it is, last GOT day, thank you Nat, it was a great journey at your side despite the last two seasons, it was rich in laughter, tears and tension 😄 Regarding your point of view on the series, I agree with most of what you say and obviously there are two/three debatable points (unfortunately it's complicated to debate properly here haha). But it's obvious they should have kept the same number of episodes to allow a better treatment of the characters or at least selected motivated screenwriters, in fact I find Daenerys as a tyrant rather logical (however "too brutal") in the sense it was quite predictable, and as many things have shown in reality, the "liberator" often becomes the "opressor". And of course, where one great adventure ends, another takes over 😄 I really can't wait to start the next journey and I'm curious what it will be 😃 I hope you're fine, take care, be safe and stay golden! 💛

Bran is no longer Bran. He was downloaded with the life experience and collective memories of multiple generations of men that could see everything. He can see everything. He can look into the past and learn from multiple viewpoints and he can see the truth of everything. Remember when Tywin was talking to his grandson about, "What makes a good king?" and they came up with Wisdom? Bran is wise. He is wise 30 times over. He has access to the wisdom of generations of wise men. He wont be paranoid. You can't plot against him because he can uncover your plot by just looking at your past. You can't lie to him for the same reason. He's not greedy for power or gold. He's not interested in having multiple wives and children. Being paralyzed kind of kills your libido so no evil little boy king after he's dead. No Nero, No Caligula will follow him. He will guide his successor and maybe choose another Greenseer to be his heir. The things that corrupt other men hold no sway over Bran and he has the wisdom to rule well. The fans of the show don't like him because they suffer from the greatest failing of democracy, they vote for the most popular guy/girl most of the time. Bran is not charismatic. He's cold, aloof, distant. He shares more in common with Buddah than with Genghis but when he makes decisions for the Relm, he has access to the knowledge of everything that has happened throughout history. Bran would be the best king the world has ever seen.

I understand wanting to end the series. Everyone is spending most of their lives away from their families in extreme locations working crazy hard at crazy hours in extreme conditions. The last season took 2 years to make. People have been hating on the show since season 5 so to sacrifice that much to mixed reactions would be gutting. Also there is no satisfying ending to the series. Just ask George. Its been 10 years since Jon was left stabbed and bleeding at Castle Black and Danarys was surrounded by a Dothraki horde.

I’ve watched this show 2 times, once when I was younger and didn’t care whilst it was already out for 5 seasons and again when the last season was coming out . Rewatching it believe it or not was actually a lot better for me just for the fact all these things that didn’t make sense made a lot of sense even from the beginning of the show . There’s are things that just never will make sense but I don’t really care to be honest lol I’m good at suspending my belief for the sake of not getting pissed . Idk I’ve never really fully understood the hate it gets but it’s also just my opinion

And this final episode happen to be posted on my birthday xD About your thoughts and feelings on the ending: welcome to how we all felt back when it first aired! lol. I was definitely one who originally felt like the ending seemed to come out of nowhere, and almost ruined the whole show for me. I spent several years not even thinking of GoT, or that I'd ever watch it again, but not long before you started to post your vids, I had decided to watch it again. Having watched this with you now makes it my 4th time seeing the series all the way through (I rewatched the whole thing again with your vids as commentary during your weeklong break lol). Given some space from the series and finally going through a second viewing, the ending doesn't feel so bad, and you pick up more of those breadcrumbs in earlier seasons of Dany going crazy at the end. Granted, they really didn't do a great job or portraying it; just thinking about the story by itself; it makes more sense of her going ape-shit on King's Landing at the end. Not only did she have her best friend taken from her by Cersei, and one of her dragons killed; but just the outrage of Cersei not sending her troops to help against an army of dead people, it's easier to see how she could just snap like that at the end and say "fuck this" and burn them all. Dany always was a bit rash in her decisions, but she had close friends to tamper those knee jerk reactions. By the time she gets to that final battle with Cersei, everyone she ever loved, cared for, and actually listened to was dead: Jorah, Beristan (or however you spell his name), Missandei... those were the few people she actually considered family (you can maybe consider Grey Worm as one, but he always just felt more like a loyal soldier than someone she really loved as a friend/family). So here she is, completely alone in a country she feels is supposed to be her home, and the one goal she's ever had, the iron throne, is right there. She's tired, angry, and ready to finish it. And the only person left she kinda loves is the one person who could take the throne away from her by birth-rights. Ultimately, when I went back and watched it again; the pure story of the ending felt like it made more sense, but there is no arguing that they didn't really do a great job at putting it on screen. That being said, I still want to give massive props to those behind the screen who tried their best to give us an epic ending. Going from such great source material as the books, then having to piece together an epic ending just from vague notes... I can't even imagine having to deal with that task. As it was airing, you could even feel the shift in public opinion when they got past the point where the books were written. It went from being everyone's favorite show with almost no complaints, to just about every decision the show-runners made being questioned and criticized. I feel like ultimately that is what caused the rushed aspect of the last few seasons; it was as if the higher-ups in the studio were like "We need to finish this show NOW while we're still on top!" and because of that rushed what otherwise could have been 4 to 5 more great seasons of content, and focused more on trying to give us epic LotR style battles. All-in-all, I would say GoT is probably one of my favorite shows to have come about; at least in my top 10, even with the rushed endings. The series as a whole had some of the best writing, acting, direction, sound design, cinematography, etc. So happy to have watched this along with you, and can't wait to see what series you hop into next with us! (personally I'm hoping for some Battlestar Galactica or Altered Carbon maybe xD)

Just wanted to say that the Targaryens aren't biological mad. They don't have like a time clock that made them burn everyone. I can only think on four targaryens that you can call mad: Maegor: Basically, Joffrey, but older and with a loooooooooot of power. Baelor: The religious one. He lock her sisters up to avoid tentations and starve himself to death 'cause the gods. Aerion: Brother of Maester Aemon and King Aegon the Fifth. Cruel and spoiled, drank wildfire cause he thought that would turn him into a dragon, but he just burn to death, like every targeryan exposed to fire (yes, dany too). And Aerys, the Mad King himself.

Let's address some of the "complaints" during the episode... "Why did Tyrion go look for his siblings? They were crushed..." Well, how would he know that? He told Jaime he left a boat for them down there, so he had to check and see if they got out. "How did he find them so easily?" Would you have preferred a 20 minute scene of him looking through every pile of rubble? He obviously spent time looking for them, but we only saw the part of the search that mattered. "She wasn't like this before. Now all of a sudden, she's completely ruthless. Right... The noblemen of Mereen would beg to differ. She always wanted to slaughter people, but her advisors kept her in check for the most part. She practically got wet from listening to Drogo say he'd tear down their stone houses, and kill the men in iron suits. She was always like this. Death and tragedy pushed her the final bit into madness. "She always fought for kids, and slaved and women. What she did now was completely out of character." Did she? Really? She folllowed Khal Drogo as they raped and pillaged, albeit she was against the raping, but the rest seemed ok. And yeah, she freed slaves, but Kings Landing didn't have slaves. Those were free people, who in her mind chose to follow Cersei Lannister. She wanted to burn down Quarth in the second season, because they wouldn't let her in. Her instinct has always been fire and blood. Something people seem to just "ignore" because they were a fan of her. "And that's how she dies?" Well, she was told she would be betrayed 3 times. Once for Blood, once for Gold and once for Love. This was the third betrayal. As predicted since season 2 in Quarth... Once again... Has Nat not been paying attention at all? "How cool would it be if Drogon burned Jon, and found out that way he was a Targaryan?" Targaryans aren't immune to fire. What happened to Dany was because she sacrificed Mirri Maz Duur and the Khals. Only death can pay for life. Also, dragons are supposedly incredibly smart, so Drogon would 100% have known what that "chair" symbolized. "She deserved better than that." No she didn't... She deserved absolutely nothing, she was a tyrant since season 1. "Was Tyrion held prisoner a whole winter?" It never snowed in Kings Landing. That was ashes. Tyrion's beard grew a TON... So many context clues... "All of this is so ridiculous." Why? Because the noble houses of Westeros were allowed to choose a new king? What else should have happened? No ruler and the Unsullied holding Kings Landing for eternity? "This doesn't even make sense." Why not? Who else should rule the 7 Kingdoms, if not the one person who can't be bought or tempted by anything? Bran is the ONLY logical choice as King if you think about it. "He's been saying all this time he's not a Stark anymore, and how he can't be a Lord." Well duh... Why do you think the guy who can see he would be crowned King in the future, said he couldn't be a Lord? Really?? "This is insane." Bran is sending Jon home. The only place he has ever felt home. There is no "Night's Watch" anymore. But Grey Worm doesn't know that. That's why Bran sent Jon there. To free him from the politics of Westeros, that he always hated. To send him home!! "How is that relevant? It wasn't even funny." That line has been a running gag this ENTIRE show. All show viewers had been DYING to find out the end of that story, but it was always cut off. Lastly... THERE IS NO NIGHT'S WATCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, here we are. But first things first. THANK YOU Nataly for getting us on this ride once more. I don't think I would have ever watched GoT again if it wasn't to make the ride with you all. And I have to say, it's been a very enjoyable ride. I'm gonna make this kind of short, because I know this thread is going to get very crouded. I guess the best recap for this series is the phrase stated by Jon on the last episode "This doesn't feel right". And I think that is what most people left feeling in the end. For me, I do acknowledge this to be one of the best shows ever filmed. At one point it had the whole world waiting for each new episode, and that shared experience, for that many seasons is in itself an indisputable achievement. It didn't have the best ending, but I couldn't tell you what that would have been. For all of those that crucified the whole show just because it didn't have a stellar ending... I guess I'm on the oposite site of you. An ending can't ruin hundreds of great previous hours of joy and entertainment. I know most people blame the show runners for how the perfect show got ruined. And for sure they have a point since the show runners are the ultimate responsibles for what is filmed and aired. But what most of those people wanna forget is that the showrunners followed the path marked by the author. All of this Daneris getting carzy was always his plan. So if it is that what you don't like... You should know who to really blame. For me in the end, the story was ok. Then only great failure of the show was to rush to end things, don't giving enough time for the stories to reach the goal. I guess they got tired after years of exhausting working on it, and they had future project to embarc on... And that is so sad. But this show will alwyas be one of the best shows ever made... Now... NAT PLEASE consider Lost next ;)

I was so disappointed HBO left Amazon, that's my fav streaming platform. I'm on Hulu, too, so I got the HBO add on there, and it worked okay, but I'm only doing the free week trial on Hulu to finish up with Natalie. If I really need to get back on HBO in the future, I guess I'll do it through Hulu again. I just hate trying to stream on HBO Max platform.

I still hope some, she has mentioned it as something she wanted to watch. I only watched it for the first time a few years ago, and a lot of it holds up well, while also being very nostalgic for those 90s/early 2000s years. But, yeah, it's a long commitment. ETA: The stories and characters generally still hold up well, the effects not so much.

I just finished watching The Wire for the first time, really good series and pretty doable at 5 seasons of 12 to 13 episodes. Bittersweet, with Michael Williams dying right when I was finishing watching his breakout role. I'm not happy with HBO right now, but The Wire is really good. Band Of Brothers is also a must see miniseries, though being WWII, it has some things that will be very difficult for you, but it's so well done. I also like Rome, another one that's easily done since it's only 2 seasons.

I'd just like to say that if GRRM's readers don't think he's capable of pulling a fast one on us when it comes to what's "confirmed" for his books apparently does not read them. They're already different enough at this point anyway. 😉 I could go on for ages, but I'll just never understand how a pissed off Grey Worm, who now has all the power with Dany out of the way makes any of the moves he makes or allows any of the things he allows... and then just leaves. He's like a Shogun and there isn't even an Emperor at this point. The concept of choosing a democratic ruler rather than relying on bloodlines is definitely one of the messages in GRRM's books but the way it unfolds is nonsense. The way they choose electing a King after laughing off a general election where all people are involved is kind of a lame attempt at social commentary IMO.

I am glad that Nat enjoyed the experience. I am the same, despite my issues with the shows final seasons, there are almost no shows that elevated the bar like this. Still, years later, only now Amazon and Netflix are trying to match the scope of this series. And I am excited to see what the GOT spinoff shows will be. Oh and when the final books come out 20 years from now, we will have answers!

Jon's ending is actually pretty ok imo. Bran knew that Jon would end up going beyond the wall with the wildlings and knew that's where he'd be happiest (pretty sure there really isn't a Night's Watch anymore, Grey Worm just didn't know that). I've also found viewing this more as a tragedy rather than an epic or adventure story makes it slightly more enjoyable. Arya's ending also makes sense. Nat, do you not remember Arya saying she wants to find out what's West of Westeros many seasons ago? Also, the honeycomb and the brothel joke has been a long running one throughout the series, and you have laughed at it before. Many times throughout the episode you forgot things that were already established, like Tormund literally telling Jon last episode that he would be at Castle Black until the winter snows passed. Overall really enjoyed your reactions to this series, it did become evident at the end that you became much less invested which caused you to forget/miss a lot more important things and become quite a bit more nit picky, which I think probably lessened your enjoyment even more. I can't really blame you for that as it's definitely justified, but I do think you would have enjoyed it a bit more (particularly season 6) had you not forgotten/missed things and not been constantly trying to find things to make you upset.

People fail to realize (I've heard many people say it too) That only Daenerys is immune to fire not Targaryens, best proved in season 1 when Drogo killed Viserys with heat/fire...she was ,"the Dragon" "Fire cannot kill a dragon" So it's not Targaryen thing, Just specifically Daenerys.

This last reaction has probably been my favourite of yours (well apart from Firefly/Serenity) haha but mainly because so much of your reaction through the episode and this last few seasons, I went through the exact same emotions. Apparently HBO were willing to give the writers more time to flush out the story but not sure if they had enough confidence in their own writing to go on for much longer after departing from the books. In a way the books were almost like a crutch. I found so much wrong with this last season especially. Game of Thrones started off as potentially being the greatest fantasy show ever made to ending up being something I wouldn't recommend to anyone.

Me too, I honestly enjoyed episodes 3 and 5 more than I did the first time around, but this episode was even worse. The horrible pacing and writing is just so much more evident, but at least a few characters got decent endings.

What needed to be 20 episodes over two seasons was condensed into 13, and that is why (IMO) it didn't work. They needed those extra 7 episodes. That is the bottom line. Had we had the normal number of episodes, it would have worked a lot better than it did. As another interesting fact, a lot of people give D&D a lot of crap about the story ending, but that ending came from GRRM. He told them how he intended to end the books (and what the major beats were going to be), and so that's what they went with. So if you have a problem with the story itself, that's on the author. Reducing the number of episodes is definitely on D&D, that was their fault (I presume, I mean I suppose it could have been HBO, but I think I read it was the producers). I wonder, given the backlash, if GRRM will now change the endings of his books (you know, in a fantasy make-believe world where he actually finishes them). I have issues with the last two seasons, to be sure, but it mostly revolves around the fact that it could have worked, if not for the rather baffling decision to shorten the seasons. Anyway, I know you get about a million series/movie suggestions, and I have no idea if you are even going to do a series again (maybe just movies), but if you are considering a new series, allow me to throw these suggestions into the hat. One, I'd love to see your reaction to the WItcher (Henry Cavill!!), and two, the Sopranos is a great show as well (another one with a rather controversial ending, lol). I'd watch the heck out of those reactions. Thank you for your reactions to this series, I've enjoyed them greatly. I wouldn't have rewatched the series on my own, and it was fun to revisit it with your commentary.

When the show originally aired, I thought, oh, well, I can fill in the gaps and make it make sense. Drogon is destroying the throne that Dany died pursuing, Dany's burning of King's Landing was previewed by these specific events and maybe it could have been explained better with more time, but ... And then the showrunners came forward and said, "Drogon did that for no reason, and Dany just went crazy all at once when she heard the bells." And I decided I wasn't going to bother trying to come up with reasons for anything that happened in the end.

Thanks for your reactions Natalie! love them. Few commentaries on your questions, although I also didn't like how the series ended. 1. In "The bells" episode there wasn't snow, there were ashes. 2. "Winter is Coming" means "The dead are coming", the Night King brought winter, brought dead. Once defeated, no more long winters, just the usual. 3. The first episode of the series had a duration of more than 2 months, 3 weeks is how long it takes for the King to travel from Kings landing to Winterfell, other 3 weeks to travel from winterfell to the Night's Watch and the time in between, so the pace of time trough the series was variable. Yeah sure, near the end of season 6 the characters and the different plots were already built so the pace seamed faster.

Well now you know why we all hate the ending! lol also Drogon definitely understood what the throne is, it's explained in the show a little but more in the books that in this world dragons are very intelligent, even more so than humans. The scene of Danny walking to the throne in the snow in a destroyed red keep is the same as the vision she saw in the house of the undying. This means it is likely that this ending of her going crazy and destroying kings landing was likely always supposed to happen. I have to imagine that once the books are finished the actual story will be much more drawn out and we will get more insight into her madness so it doesn't feel like she just all of a sudden decided to kill thousands of innocents but that she actually went crazy. Also before Jon left wenterfell Tormond told him that he would be taking the wildlings back to castle black for the winter. I believe the montage of Jon, Arya, and Sansa was supposed to last the entire time it took for winter to end. All in all I HATED this season when it came out. Now watching it the second time through knowing about all the bad writing choices I enjoyed it much more. I suppose I can appreciate the story even though it wasn't written as well as the previous seasons.

In my mind, the biggest issue with the pacing of the show is that the story as a whole should be 3 acts. Act 1 ends with the Red Wedding (end of season 3), Act 2 ends with Dany heading to Westeros (end of season 6), which means the final act (Dany's war with Cersei, Sansa besting Littlefinger and coming into her own, Bran proving his value as future King of Westeros, Jon and Dany falling in love, the wall falling, the war with the dead, Dany turning mad) should be its own act with an equal amount of attention, but we get 13 episodes instead of 30 like the other 2 acts. So everything just feels really rushed and nonsensical.

I think Dany turning is where GRRM would've taken the story also. The show runners rushed the show and butchered it. There is definitely signs she would become a tyrant early on in her story. Maybe they don't surface but I think this arc could've been amazing if the show just took it's time and stuck to the pace they originally set.

I agree with basically all you said. I believe the showrunners got burned out and instead of letting others finish the show, they let their egos get in the way and rushed the ending of the show. They focused purely on cinematics and shock value instead of good writing. Everything about the writing became so lazy, its very frustrating. What this show did for TV shows in general is still amazing and I hope other showrunners learn from the mistakes made in this show.

At least five people in the council knew the truth of Jon's parentage, and not one of them stepped forward to say "actually, he's the rightful king, so..." That's the one thing I can't let go of. Jon kills dragon Hitler and gets exile in return, with no one speaking up for him. As with everything else with these last two seasons, it's a conclusion that could work given the proper groundwork, but feels unearned and random instead.

Basically agree with everything around your analysis of the series. It would have been an amazing tragedy to see Dani descend into madness and into evil (a la the series Breaking Bad) but it did indeed need a few seasons. Dani did show many signs of ruthlessness and flashed those crazy eyes throughout the series, even early on. What you said about it being a "bummer" pretty much sums up those last few episodes.

You really got hung up on the weather there, Nat. It's winter, but winter in King's Landing is sort of like winter in South Carolina. It may snow, but not too much. Still, much of the cold weather came from the magic that made the White Walkers, and may be gone now. It probably snowed ash for days and maybe weeks after the fall of King's Landing. Ashes are often very light and can be caught in the winds and can go for thousands of miles. Earth has seen many volcanic winters caused by the ash thrown in the jet stream and spread around the globe, obscuring the sun, causing short summers, cold winters and massive crop failures and starvation. The last one was in 1992. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volcanic_winter Your complaints echo mine. The past two seasons were way too short, and did not build up what happened to Daenerys. I think the producers were tired of doing this and wanted to move onto other projects. Think about it. Each of the 6 episodes of this season had one or more huge blockbuster moments. In the past, it would be several episodes of building up the suspense. Tyrion spent an entire season preparing for and being on trial before being rescued, and killing Tywin. This season we knew what would happen, and it just happened. I have no problem with Dany truly being a tyrant. Even as she acheived good things, she never worried that the ends did not justify the means, but for the viewer this was not built up. It was left as foreshadowing, but it rarely came back to hurt her, so the audience was left with the feeling that maybe it was OK that she killed all the nobles of Meereen. One of their sons came to beg her for a funeral, and she ended up proposing a sham marriage to him. The first 5 seasons left us always wondering what would come next and we were always surprised. This last season spoon fed us exactly what we expected. Of course it was no good. Westeros was a bunch of small independant kingdoms until around 300 years ago when Aegon I Targaryen came with his sister-wives and dragons and conqured all of those kingdoms. The North was one of the only 2 that was not actually conquored. King Torhen Stark, faced with Aegon and his dragons didn't fight. He simply bent the knee. The North is very different from the other kingdoms. They pray to different gods, they have a very different culture and they have never trusted the southerners. As a matter of fact, when you hear them talking of "King of the Andals and the First Men", the southerners are the Andals who came to Westeros thousands of years ago. The Northerners are the "First Men" who were there thousands of years before that. Kind of explains the culture problems. Brienne is not head of the Gold Cloaks. The Gold Cloaks are the City Watch of King's Landing. She is Lord Commander of the King'sguard. The King's Guard is made up of seven knights, and they wear white cloaks and guard the King and his family. The City Watch basicaly are the police. While the Kingsguard are historically very honorable men, being the best knights of the kingdom, the Goldcloaks are basically a police force. They often act as a protection racket, kind of like the mafia, collecting money from businesses in exchange for not attacking them.

Dany going mad just isn't fleshed out enough so it feels like a forced character choice required for the story rather than something she naturally arrived at. They left traces of Dany being a mad queen for years, imo. From the start, by burning a woman alive with her dragon eggs. People just think its cute because the dragons hatched. I never understood the obsession with "Good Dany", Tyrion literally lists her disgusting behavior in the scene with Jon. She was NOT good. Also, 1. Targaryens aren't immune to fire, so Jon would have died. 2. Dragons are sentient so Drogon probably does know what The throne meant. Also people in the comments can complain about the writers all they want, but these story beats were given to the writers by Martin. The only issue with the story is its shortened, the rest of it makes sense. Also Arya going to explore makes perfect sense, that was always going to be her arc ending, she was obsessed with the stories as a child of Nymeria who explored the world. Her ending is the most fitting of all. I quite enjoyed how you said it was very predictable but the most predictable twist (Jon becoming the King of the free folk) was completely missed by you :P He gets away with it because Bran KNEW what Jon's intention was if he went back North.

How badly executed it was aside. I do love the plot on a meta sense. GRRM wanted to show the horrors of war and then puts us on the side of a conqueror (Dany) The great conquerors of history committed an insane amount of atrocities. So I think it's a pretty beautiful ending for Daenerys in that the best intentions can become something terrible in the light of day. Just wish the writing would have been better and paced out to sell that plot beat (and many other plot beats)

I've rewatched all of season 8 with you, my first time re-visiting it since it aired. It didn't get any better with time. As you were having issues with this finale I just kept thinking "It gets worse". I loved GoT from season 1 - 6, had a few issues with 7, but hoped they'd stick the landing, but was ultimately disappointed so badly that I have a hard time saying I'm a fan of the entire show. There were three major series that had their "finale's" around the same time: Star Wars, the MCU, and GoT. I loved Endgame, and wanted that quality of an ending for the other two, but they didn't meet those expectations.

The final season suffered from two things. One GRRM stopped writing, so the show the writers fell back on the status quo of TV writing. The second thing is that the show runners were done with the show before the last season even started filming. They just wanted to get it out of the way so they could move on to something else. I honestly don't get why people get so pissed off. Keeping in mind that they didn't want to do any more seasons, I challenge anyone to come up with a better wrap up in 10 hours. This season was doomed no matter what they did. I hear a lot of people complaining about what happened, but not a lot of alternative options that don't require more seasons to make work.

From the start of season six, this series just got progressively worse and worse. I followed along with much of Natalie's viewing for most of it, simply because there were a great many good moments I wanted to catch her reaction to. However episode three of season eight really was the limit. I absolutely cannot stomach rewatching the travesty of what comes after. Episode three of season eight I watched out of morbid curiosity, but that truly is the most egregiously incompetent 'battle strategy' I have ever seen portrayed in any medium. So, now that you're finished with the show, this is something I've been holding off on since you started on season 1, episode 1. Look at the opening credits and the "sun", the magnifying glasses, etc. Go back to scenes at the Citadel and look around. Hanging chandeliers. Someone has these special glasses. etc. As if as the story changes over time, the credit sequence changes, and the records of events are updated at the Citadel.

If you want a GOT supplement show, I recommend watching Vikings. I watched it after Thrones ended. You’ll need Hulu to watch it. If you wanted to stay in the realm of HBO productions, I recommend watching The Sopranos. A stellar experience watching that show. Great writing and acting. Also, idk if you plan to go back to Star Wars or not. There’s still the sequel trilogy to watch, and animations like The Clone Wars, which I highly recommend. Just some suggestions

I think it's fair to say Greyworm is a POS. He supported Dany of his own freewill. What did he expect, for it to be easy to conquer another land? For the people to be grateful for the conquering? And then he goes full on war criminal (even by Westerosi stardards) when his girlfriend dies and he starts killing thousands of surrendering soldiers. Why does this dude get final say in anything? Why does Jon honor Greyworm's wishes and goes up to the Wall after Greyworm leaves Westeros? No one else wants Jon exiled. They should all love him. They should have made Jon king for getting rid of Dany (super mass murderer mega b*tch), not to mention he's basically the true heir to the Iron Throne anyway. He doesn't even get mentioned when they decide their new ruler. The Night's Watch HAS NO REASON TO EXIST ANYMORE! The White Walkers are dead and gone. Arya's story was never meant to be a happy one. She let vengeance consume her and in the end she received no consequences for it. Instead she got rewarded for being a cutthroat mass murderer. Why do the other kingdoms of Westeros allow the North to sucede? If the North sucedes, then all of the other Kingdoms would want to sucede as well, starting yet another civil war. Yara even forgets that the Iron Islands being independent was her only reason for supporting Dany in the first place. Why does she still defend Dany after knowing she went crazy and killed thousands of innocents? Sansa has no feats, she helped out in exactly one battle. Why does she get to shut down her uncle so rudely when he's also sacrificed so much for the war. He agreed to a marriage he didn't want and he got imprisoned for 5 years because of it. He didn't get to see his son until he was 4 years old. He also fought in the war and protected his people by letting them ALL stay in his castle. Not sure why D&D hated this guy so much. He's actually pretty great. And can someone please tell Sansa to take off her BDSM outfit? Where does she think she is? The Matrix? Meanwhile, Drogon this episode: >Drogon sees Dany dead. Jon standing over her. >Drogon turns to the Throne and melts it. >Drogon turns back to Jon: "No Jon, it was power that killed my mother. A structural and pervasive system of cohersion under which you and I are merely pawns. Why would I burn you? By melting the Throne I have signaled my rejection of a discourse of violence and hubris. In this way I have fulfilled my mother's dream of breaking the wheel, and by reducing the Iron Throne to liquid I have blah blah blah I understand symbolism and the story requires me to do this." Bronn becomes Master of Coin despite stating in a previous season that he doesn't understand the concept of loans. Wouldn't he be a better Master of War? Or maybe in prison since he blackmailed Tyrion into becoming one of the major Lords of Westeros? Tyrion is not mentioned in the history book of the war despite being the Hand of the King/Queen twice and being vitally important to the wars. His kidnapping is literally the inciting incident of the War of the Five Kings. Also, why is Greyworm so intent to punish him? All he did was diss Dany and free his own brother. Hardly deserving of death. Again Greyworm is a POS. This is obligatory, but everyone has a better story than Bran. Even Hotpie.

What was one of the most popular tv shows ever made will forever be remembered as the show that was ruined by its ending. GoT fizzled out and died after blowing itself up. Ok and as far as show recommendations go, I vote Twin Peaks. Super quirky, dark and light hearted at the same time. Supernatural goodness. Makes me want a cup of coffee. And best of all, it's short! Only 2 seasons and a movie. There is also a revival series that came out recently, which I guess makes it 3 seasons. Please no super long shows that will last all year.

I do disagree with multiple points you made in your breakdown - which is definitely okay as you have made a lot of valid points. I suppose the one thing I will mention in particular is how the Hound went out. I feel he had one of the top character progression arcs (along with Jorah and Theon) in the show; truly a poetic way for him to die. But, again, thank you for such insightful reactions to a show that (despite the ending) will always have a special place!

I've been really wanting to rewatch this. And this was an enjoyable way to do it. I agree with most of what you said about the final season or two. I do think there were better ways to get to a similar outcome. Jon being burned by Drogon infront of the throne as Grey Worm and others rushed in to see what happnened...would have been incredible, and still result with the throne melted, and Jon being revealed as a Targaryan. How it stands, I like that he was sent to the Night's Watch...because I'm sure Tyrion knew that the Watch was over. It was a way to set him free but without saying it. Being in the North, the real North, was the only place he really got to know happiness. I think Arya becoming an explorer/adventurer was very in her character. She never wanted to be a lady, and be stuck in castles etc. I think we lost some of that wanderlust spirit in her in the final season or 2 because everything was so focused on the Army of the Dead and Cersi. I also think Jon should have been able to kill the Night King, with the aid of Beric. Arya should have killed Dany, and Jon gets "burned" protecting her. As for suggestions for other shows...I'd highly recommend Chuck. It's more humorous and full of adventure and nerdy stuff. It's not as deep and heavy as GoT, but It has a great arc for the main characters. Especially when they filmed each season thinking it was the final season. LOST is also an all time favorite.

Dany showed great cruelty several times before she snapped, but many just excused it, or cheered it because it was against the "right" people and probably assumed it could never be turned against anyone else. I know I did until it did turn and I remembered seeing here cruelty. I had no issue with that, in fact I really liked that they went that direction with Dany. Could have used a bit more fleshing out, but I think there was already enough there to make it acceptable, if barely. Of the people left in the meeting to choose the next king, I felt like Bran was the only one who made sense. The last season felt rushed, but I felt most of it could have been improved with one or two more episodes as opposed to another full season. Arya's ending was foreshadowed when The Hound told her that he wasn't coming back and she replied that she wasn't either. Her revenge motivation was broken by The Hound himself when he got her to leave the Red Keep instead of pursuing Cersei. Jon was always destined to end up north of the wall. Tormund kept making comments along the lines of "you've spent too much time with us" or "you have the North in you" or "you'd be happier up there with us." Most of what Natalie said didn't make sense I felt did. The groundwork was laid, maybe a little more thinly that it could have been with a couple of more episodes, maybe a bit rushed, but it was there. The only thing in the final season that I was really disappointed in was the White Walker storyline. Big battle at Winterfell with the Night King killed at the end and it's all over. Never really felt like we got enough information about the White Walkers aside from who made them and why. That may seem like enough for some, but it left me feeling hollow. All that being said, I thoroughly enjoyed the reactions and the excuse to revisit the show. I'm sad it's over since most of the suggestions I've seen here are shows I haven't seen nor have any interest in seeing (Sopranos, Breaking Bad, and a few others). Battlestar Galactica is one I'd like seeing, but thing another sci-fi/fantasy may be a bit much for those who have patiently waited through GOT when they weren't interested. Band of Brothers or From the Earth to the Moon would also be great. Don't know if you'll get all the way to this comment Natalie, but if you do, thank you for your reactions. I moved to a city where I didn't know anyone and watching these reactions has provided a much needed break from some pretty lonely nights, especially during the pandemic.

I don't necessarily dislike the ending itself, but the pacing is what ruined it for me. While I hate when shows do it I feel this is one of the few times a split season would have worked. Rather than a short 6 episode season, two 5 episode halves would have been ideal, 3 for build up, the 4th being the big one and a 5th to recover like they had done previously. It would give some of the final seasons developments like varys' betrayal of Dany, her owm downspiral and jons grip with what he has to do would have felt more natural.

I commented on the last episode about not being able to put my finger on why Dany's descent just didn't feel earned, but I think you hit the nail on the head. Sure Dany had a lot of downs and losses this season: no respect from the Northerners, losing Jorah, losing Rhaegon, losing Missandei, Jon backing away with his romantic feelings, Varys's betrayal, etc. But there was time between all those moments and the final battle. There was no "snap" event to push her over the edge. No major death. No close call. So the only thing to really conclude is that she went into that battle with every intention of doing what she did. She may have been having second thoughts right as the bells rung, but they were not enough to overrule her intentions. I think this is confirmed in her sureness that she did nothing wrong as seen in her conversation with Jon. Bran the Broken as King? I think you had the same reaction as most who disagreed. Totally out of left field. No build-up. No foreshadowing. Not even a nugget of a hint in previous episodes that this would be the end result. I tried looking for something during this watch knowing what the end was. Maybe they did, but I couldn't see it. Will Bran be a good King? I don't think so. As he's said MANY times, his focus is no longer on the world around him. The one thing I do disagree with you on is the Hound. Maybe it's fan service, but I always did want to see him battle his brother. I do think it was a fitting death among so many unfitting ones. Thanks for watching this series. I really hated the end, but enough time has passed between when I first watched it and now, that I no longer think the whole show was ruined by it. As you said, there were some absolutely amazing moments that I'm so glad I got to re-watch and see a newbie react to. Thanks Nat!

Just to comment on one point: Bran maintained that he can't be lord of Winterfell, because that's an inherited title, and he doesn't consider himself a Stark anymore. However, since he was being -chosen- as king, there is no implied conflict of interest.

The only thing I would say to when Tyrion says, “Our Queen’s nature is fire and blood.” Your reaction, and many others, seem to believe this turn only happened in the last couple seasons and she was good before this. But all the way back in season 2 she literally says, “We will lay waste to armies and burn cities to the ground” “I will take what is mine, with fire and blood I will take it.” So it does seem to be in her nature all the way back to season 2. I do agree though that the extra push over the edge to madness was too rushed, as was the whole ending, which made it feel less earned overall. And really that the main fault of the whole ending, to me, was that it was too rushed. But I didn’t think it was totally out of character or a terrible ending overall. Just could have been executed better. Just my thoughts though.

Jon' s hand was burned when he grabbed that lantern that ignited the whyte that tried to kill Lord Commander Mormont. I totally buy the idea that Drogon understood, they alluded to the notion that dragons are possibly even more intelligent than humans. I feel like he followed his mother but also understood that her ambition was more powerful than her sense of justice. She did liberate many people, but if you think about it, there was always something for her to gain from it. When she decided to stay in Essos, it was to keep the former slaves free, but also because she wanted to signal to the people of Westeros that she wasn't only a conqueror but also a capable ruler. And now Drogon is free to be a dragon, instead of the Targaryen Air Force, Dany's ambition cost him his brothers. Also, and I hope the prequel show will address this, I caught that the wild climate swings in this world supposedly have something to do with, well, basically Magick. The Long Night has to do with the White Walkers, they brought the winter, they're gone now so the Long Night has ended. It was also hinted at in, I think it was the DVD extras, that it had something to do with the Doom of Valyria, that the ancient Valyrians had knowledge that was lost and that they overreached and caused a calamity that disrupted Nature essentially. Yeah I didn't go for Bran as King, but it does call back to Plato's idea that philosophers would make the best rulers (not necessarily imo). It could go either way with Bran, he has no vested interests to corrupt him, and maybe over time as he develops as the Three Eyed Raven his empathy will also develop, making his vision a definite asset. Anyway I want to see how George Martin resolves the story, if that fool dies before he finishes it I'll be truly pissed, "you had one job George, one job." I'm joking of course. I will say, for my part, the implications of Arya going west of Westeros is interesting to me, I'm about half indigenous and I was wondering all along, since this world is kind of an alternate version of ours, but with dragons and magic etc, what's going on in the lands equivalent to the Americas? Are there civilizations comparable to the Mexica, the Maya, the Toltec, the Inca? What if there are dragons there (Quetzalcoatl, Kukulcan)? I'm just saying I liked the implication that this fantasy world is still much bigger than we've seen. Yeah Martin said that of all the characters, Samwell was the most like himself. Nice nod to the source material there. And I like that Bronn and Davos, two of my favorites, representing the Nobodies with heart, made out well after all. And don't forget, Jon, sorry I can't call him Aegon, is also a Stark, and therefore has the blood of the First Men, just like the Freefolk. Well that's a wrap, is what it is, I still love this show, like I still love The Office, which ended about three seasons too late but...

Sense8 is a fantastic show, if you are looking for recommendations, 2 seasons and a movie, on Netflix, from the creators of the Matrix and about 8 strangers across the globe realizing they share a telepathic connection. It can be pretty aggressively LGBT (which I love) that may be a bit too much for some of your more prudish audience, but for such a short run and such a great show, it could be worth it. Watch it on your own time at least.

What a winter we had, 2 days!!!!!! The Night Watch only was created to defend the people against the White Walkers. No more White Walkers, no point of having a Night Watch. .. that's why Jon's punishments makes zero sense. The closing of the door was funny. There's a huge gaping hole a couple of hundred miles away. Arya killing the Night King(which doesn't even exist in the book). Yeah from the book of Ryan "shit" Johnson. SUBVERT EXPECTATION AT ALL COST, EVEN IF IT BROKE EVERYTHING WE SET IN PLACE. Can't wait to hear about you watching inside episode of season 8..... Yeah, the reason D&D gave for Rhaegal, Dany forgot about Euron's Fleet... The only reason for the Hound and the Mountain=GLEAGANE BOWL. In the book it's suppose to happened at Cersei's trial, but they decide to cut it 'cause they didn't want another trail by combat., instead they quicken the story and blew up the Sept. Everything on the production level is top quality, the only true problem with this show is the writing of the last 3 season, where D&D decided to diverge from the books. Besides that...Music, Costume, Set design. It was equals to most big budget movie.

Love the idea that Drogon burned the throne after seeing the "little sword" killing his mama and just declaring a war on them right there and then lolll... On a more serious note, I think some of the ideas they had weren't my favorite, but I could've lived with them. They just didn't even execute them properly...Not sure why there was such a hurry to end it all so fast when you might of had an all time great show under your belt if you just were more purposeful and narratively consistent with the story.

I've re-watched many of the seasons for the love of epic storytelling. I've avoided the last season until now, and I noticed plot points that before seemed ridiculous. Having said that, when Daenerys stands before her troops echoing Hitler, is when I realized we needed a entire season of that and not until pure evil reigns, do we get to cherish in her demise. This could come with help from the old gods and new.

I think many are a bit overly critical. I could write and essay on it but I've already done that comment so many times. The only thing I will say is Danny snapping wasn't sudden and the signs have been there since season 2. The only thing that irked me with this reaction is you acted like Tyrion joke at the end was out of place. He's literally said that same line throughout the series many times and it's an ongoing joke that he never finishes it. I get it that there plot holes that were causes by things being rushed but they had the amount of time that they had. Dave and Dan got offered to do the next Star Wars trilogy and would have been stupid to turn that down. Many of the cast members were ready to move on as well. They also had no more book to go off and GRRM hasn't even finished the next book to this day. Yes we needed a few more seasons to it right but it is what it is. Still can't wait till House of Dragons comes out.

I agree with you 100 percent. People just missed the signs that Danny's coin came up crazy. She crucified people, she killed people who did not see things her way. She was talked out of her instincts to kill people by Jorah, Tyrion, and Ser Selmy. She was always crazy, well once Kahl Drogo and her child die. All of that was ignored because she was "liberating" people, which is def a good thing but she always wanted to go further. She wanted to destroy all the cities that were slaving cities. Having Missande and her dragons die sent her over the edge and she no longer cared what her advisors said. The change should not have been shocking or surprising to anyone, sure when it first happens but not after it is all taken in totality.

What I noticed for the first time watching this finale is that the final sequence of shots has Jon coming out of the tunnel under the Wall and going into the woods just north of the Wall with the wildlings - matching the beginning sequence of the first shots in the first show.

Hardest thing about watching GOT with you, is the possible Spoilers, especially breadcrumbs that could put some context on Season 7-8, even if they were clutching at straws reasons for most people. You rolled your eyes so many times when Bran was in an episode, and we all knew he'd be King. LOL.

It is absolutely ludicrous, and all I can do is laugh when I see it now, that Bran became king. Not only was he the main character that fans cared about the least and the most boring storyline in the entire show, but he's also the character that the showrunners thought so little of that they decided he didn't need to be on the show for an entire season. Also, he made it clear about a hundred times in the last two seasons that he is no longer Brandon Stark, no longer a man, he isn't a Lord and he can't be one because he's the three-eyed Raven, etc etc. The showrunners just absolutely destroyed 7 1/2 seasons of incredible television. The last two or three episodes are blasphemous compared to the rest of the series. What an awful ending to one of the best television shows of all time.

For all the complaints about the final season - and there are many, it doesn't change the fact that the show was absolutely seminal - we can thank it for expensive fantasy series getting greenlit like Witcher, The Dark Tower, the new Lord of the Rings series, the Wheel of Time, etc. This show proved that such expensive risks could be incredibly lucrative and paved the way for all that is to come. Moreover, there were so many, many incredible moments throughout the first seven seasons of the show that no half-hearted ending could ever take away from me, from Hold the Door to the Red Wedding to Dany freeing the Unsullied to Arya's... everything. The ending was a disappointment, but most great series have disappointing endings (it wasn't Battlestar Galactica bad, after all) and I'm grateful both for the journey and the legacy that GoT leaves behind.

There are things in this season I loved, things that were silly (hard agree on the "north will remain an independent kingdom" part, i was waiting for someone else to go "hold up, is that an option?!" lmao) Some of the stuff that frustrated you was more explainable than you picked up on and i'm sure you'll get some flack for that in the comments but it doesn't matter, there was obviously a lot of weird unexcusable logic and pacing problems in the big picture. I think Arya killing the Night King was a great choice. From the very first season Arya has been dealing with the god of death, starting with Syrio, to Jaquen giving her 3 deaths to give back, to losing almost her whole family, to training to be a faceless man to serve the god of death. Her killing the most literal god of death the show has is fitting

You’ll love it And shows it think that you will like Nat, HIS DARK MATERIALS - I’ve never been so sure of a show that’s a perfect fit for Natalie BLACK SAILS - a personal favourite of mine as I’m a pirate historian in my part time. - what this has over Thrones is a great conclusion. I have to say, knowing what I know now about where the show ended up, the episodes and events leading up to That Event™ take on a whole new light, where I can at least get a sense of what they were trying to hint at, however rushed and clumsily, whereas when I saw it in realtime I was in denial and thought we were being "tricked" into thinking where things were heading before the twist, but the twist was that there was no twist.

The Expanse is amazing, one of the best sci-fi dramas in a long time. The sixth (and supposedly last) season should come out end of this year, but the timing of watching it could be important depending on how you plan to watch/release.

I don't understand... Did you expect GOT to have a happy ending? The same show that has had endless plot twists and turns, that always subverts expectations, these stories that come from George RR and what he's presented so far... the same show that shockingly killed Ned, Rob, Catelyn, direwolfs, love interests etc... to end on a happy note? Dany and jon happily ruling together? Yes things progressed quickly because of the last 2 seasons but this feels overtly critical.

I actually liked the ending.. Natalie said a lot of things were predictable but all the things that happen at the end was far from predictable. khaleesi or john getting the throne would have been predictable. I can understand why ppl have been upset about it but i honestly enjoyed it.. The lighting is the only issue a bit too dark with the night scenes.

It's been a long and wild ride. Thanks Natalie. I agree with you on Beric Dondarrion. I'm a huge fan of Arya, but I'd have liked seeing her being successful in the general battle, dropping white walkers to kill their zombie groups, and let Beric be the one. He was the alternate version of the lord of light's prophesied champion with a flaming sword. Melisandre was wrong to think the champion was Stannis, and it would've been great to have Beric take out the Night King instead of Stannis as well. I haven't read the last book, so maybe George R.R. Martin went that way. Can't wait to find out.

He dies after the Red Wedding when he "breathes life" back into Catelyn Stark (yes, she survives in the books). </strike>

It's too predictable but didn't see kaleesi's death, jon joining the nights watch, arya sailing west, sansa queen in the north or bran becoming king? She's shocked to see Tormund at Castle Black even though he explicitly said in the previous episode that's what he was going to do? And there are NO more nights watch. They all died. He's starting a new version-- whatever that's gonna be. I completely understand being frustrated by the compressed nature of the last two seasons-- I wish they'd taken longer also. But her complaints are silly and she simply can't follow simple information from episode to episode. I've been a long patron of Nat, but this stuff is getting old.

The reason the Night's Watch was created was to protect the Realms of Men against the White Walkers. Since the White Walkers all died, the Night's Watch has no reason to exist anymore. So it doesn't make sense to send Jon over to the Night Watch. Jon also has no reason to listen to Greyworm's wishes, since Greyworm commands a single decimated army that is no longer even in Westeros. All of the other Lords have no reason to hate Jon. His existence as a Targaryen promises them all that Dany would have, except Jon isn't a mad women who massacred an entire city for no reason at all. Jon was an easy choice for King of the seven Kingdoms. Also, Jon was still technically the King in the North when he was following Dany and bafflingly no one in the North cares at all that Jon was imprisoned and banished to the Wall, even though he was basically elected by popular vote. Yara forgets that her only reason for supporting Dany was for the Iron Islands to be an independent kingdom. For some reason the North is allowed to sucede when in reality this would cause all of the other Kingdoms to also seek independence. Arya received no consequences for committing mass murder and massacring an entire house. I could go on but why bother.

I had to stop watching the reactions after season 7. From the comments, you weren’t a fan either. I never read the books but will consider if GRRM ever finishes. Hopefully a long ass book can flesh out the story even if it ends the same. I can’t understand commenters who think you are being too critical. Her reactions are genuine and in the moment. Pretty sure that is the point of a reaction video. I don’t want Nat censoring herself for the audience.

You can't say that Bran has the best story when the character wasn't even in season 5. Also, can Bran see the future? When he says why do you think I came all this way, did he know Dany was going to kill everyone then? I also just hate the character of Bran. Not sure if it's the character or the actor's portrayal but he just gave me nothing in the later seasons.

I think the fact that Drogon destroyed the Throne shows he knew exactly what it meant. It had been brought up before we didn't know the extent of their intelligence. I feel like you're assuming he's an just an animal and he's not.

The problem though is they never setup for that payoff, which honestly is kinda the whole problem for season 8. Twists and turns are nice and all, but you need to match them with character motivations. Maybe one of the dragons is killed in a trick from the Red Keep... then BBQ happens, little things like that.

I understand the complaints about the way the story is told over the last 2 seasons - they switched from a detailed narrative to focus on visual spectacle. Some of the writing fails - Bran's line after being asked to rule lands with a complete thud. But I have to complain about some of the complaints, like the complaint about Dany's "sudden turn". She had been promising to burn cities to the ground since arriving at Qarth at the start of season 2.

It's NOT ridiculous for Bran to send Jon exactly where he actually wants to go - Jon did not want to rule or be ruled, sending him to the wall is simply a way to let Jon live as a free man. There is no threat that the Night's Watch has to guard against, so there is really not a Night's Watch.
