Happy Westeros Wednesday! (our 2nd to last one!)

Here is my reaction to episode 2 of season 8!! Get ready for an action packed one tomorrow!

Unfortunately, the freezing issue with my camera is getting worse....haha. So hopefully I'm able to resolve it soon. I edited the video in a way where you don't have to pause the episode as you're watching it along with me. So hopefully it's not too noticeable.

These shows also get way darker visually, so I recommend lowering the light to your face if it helps you see 👍

Honestly good luck with episode 3 - I watched that in a pitch black room and still had trouble with the seeing things. In my opinion, for that episode it is less important for us to see you and your reaction than it is for you to be able to see what you are watching so no worries if your lighting and video are a bit off for an episode!!

I know this is kinda random, but I've always thought a spin-off with Tormund as one of the main characters would be absolutely awesome.

also fun fact probably a little late but the floor tiles that flip over in the intro are to mark where the army of the dead is at in the next episode you will see it reach all the way to winterfell and yes almost everyone dies but snape and hermione arrive at the end with a time turner and they snap there fingers to bring all the heroes back and they fight and evetually destroy the one ring of power but the night king isnt killed and he is reborn as darth vader and then.... wait i think i mixed up my shows, damn it !

Awesome reaction as always! :D If you are filming with the camera connected to your PC via USB, sometimes there is an issue where too many USB connections on the PC can cause recordings to pause. Worth checking out maybe!

I'm trying to watch along, but the episode Nat is watching is ever so slightly slower than the one I am, so I'm having to pause all the time to let her keep up...

Honestly, I'm happy this is finally wrapping up. It was voted on by the majority of people, so it's proper to watch it, but for those of us that don't care about GoT it's an awful long wait for it to finish. I'm glad for those viewers that enjoyed the reaction, though, and Nat obviously liked it too which is good.

I still absolutely love this episode and think it's one of the best of the series. Fantastic character development and interactions. Glad Nat seemed to enjoy it as well. Next ep should be exciting!

If you haven't watched it yet, next episode definately needs to be as dark as possible. I think we can forgive a full view for the sake of your ability to properly seeing the screen. Glow of the screen or small light should be sufficient for us

A lot went on in this episode. Arya is 18 years old in season 8, and Gendry is around 23. Since this was shot in Great Britain, they had to obey British law, which forbids productions that include sex with an underage character, even if the actors are of legal age. Yes, any knight (or K-nig-it as Davos would say) can make another knight. Generally all that is required is for the candidate to have shown bravery or skill in battle or in tournaments. Some formal ceremonies require the candidate to sit a vigil in a sept and be annointed with oils, but some knights are knighted on the battlefield or, as in this case, just before a great battle. The knighthood comes from Andal military and religious tradition, but members of other religions can be knighted, such as Ser Rodrik and Ser Jorah, both of whom prayed to the old gods of the North. The haunting song that Podrick sings is called Jenny's Song. It is about Jenny of Oldstones, Jenny was a strange, but beautiful common girl. One day Crown Prince Duncan Targaryen, heir to the Iron Throne met her and fell in love. His father, King Aegon V refused permission for him to marry the commoner, so he gave up his right to the Iron Throne to marry her. In some ways, this led to the affairs of Game of Thrones, The song recounts the events of the Trajedy at Summerhall, when a massive fire broke out at the Targaryen's vacation retreat. Jenny was saved by a King's Guard, but King Aegon and Prince Duncan were killed. Duncan's younger brother became heir and eventually King, and his eldest son would eventually be known as The Mad King.

Even though the season as a whole was rushed and disappointing episode 2 and 3 of season 8 are some of the best episodes in the series imo.

As far as Gendry and Arya go, the signs have always been there even when they were younger she was watching him in a peculiar kind of way... She's older now, and with the stuff she's been through her mental age is way beyond her actually age which according to the books is probably about 14 maybe 15 years old and Gendry I believe is probably in his early 20s to say the least. So it's not that big of an age difference really It's just the trickiness of her age being a bit young.... And yes ma'am you sure did misinterpret their relationship hahaha!

Nothing that you are using is designed for that, least of all the batteries. Cameras are energy expensive, that means hot. This is almost for sure an overheat issue. Lithium-ion batteries get hot as a product of how they work but ...thats why so many billions have been poured into solid-state (lithium is liquid-state). They are really good at short use and as backup plus they recharge quickly, thats why we use them, but they do not live long. They are badddd at long term high current. I suggest you power your gear in a more direct way annd not through a rechargeable. You need a rectifier not a battery. Your gear wasnt designed for 2 hour videos, 45 minutes maybe. Best guess: as your converter (or transformer) dissipates the way more power than you need into camera levels it heats up, actually in the short term this improves performance. When it gets too hot the properties of the components change. In modern devices we have fail-safes to shut things down in the order of most to least power-costly (videos go early) to make sure there is no overheat...modern devices can "mmmmm nah just for a second i really need to stop...."....sooo...if yoi had reacted to this in 1993 you wouldve burned the entire block down

Gendry and Arya in the books are about 5 years apart if I remember correctly, still don't like that scene as we have watched Arya and more importantly Maisie Williams grow up before our eyes.

Of this season, I think I loved this episode the most. Several points when I started to tear up. The song by Pod. The little girl and Sir Davos. The knighting of Brienne. Also just good character moments with the Hound, Arya, Sam . . . so many people. Love it. Wish we could have listened to Bran and Tyrion talk. An on going issue of the season. So many conversations that get cut off. Maybe it is better this way. I don't think the writers could do those moments justice. Hope GRR Martin can. . . if he ever gets around to it. The long night has come and it is indeed full of terrors!

It's not so much that they couldn't write the Bran/Tyrion scene or the time but the convention of the medium if all they are going to do is recount what has happened already with no new information you don't repeat scenes kinda what Nat was saying in Loki ep 5.

Arya is a noble in her home castle. She is a trained killer which she demonstrates to Gendry by throwing those spearheads. She intimidates him to get him to drop everything and give her preferential treatment. Then she demands he sleep with her and when he tries to say something (maybe an objection?) she silences him. She didn't get consent but because she's a woman, everyone is ok with it. She can kill him with little to no effort. She can just scream and he will be executed without a trial. She is in a position of totally overwhelming power over him. He can't say "no" without risking execution. I love Arya but in this episode, they made her a sexual predator and everyone is like, "You go girl!" If she were male and Gendry was a girl, everyone would be screaming about how rapey this scene is.

I *think* HBO may have brightened up the episode after the fact since there was such a kerfuffle about it when it aired. At least that's the internet rumor I've seen, have never done a comparison.

You will absolutely want to watch the next few episodes with as little light as possible. Seriously, you can go without camera lighting, no one will be upset. Otherwise you simply won't see what's happening

Nat missed it in the reaction, or maybe she caught it but didn't comment... Brienne told Tirion and Podrick that he could only have half a cup but from the get Tirion poured him a full and overflowing cup.

The intro is different because this season only takes place in a few locations so they delve into Winterfell and King's Landing to pad the credits time.

This is my favorite episode of the season. And probably in my top 5 episodes since the end of season 4. It was awesome seeing all these characters interact and reminisce on the earlier seasons. Podrick's rendition of Jenny of Oldstones and the editing gives me chills everytime. Wish I could have ended the show here.

Age wise is... hard to guess. I think he's maybe 5-6 years older then her, and I 'think' she's supposed to be 18-19 at this point in the show (based on the actor's actual age).

Yeah there's basically two types of knight - a field knight (one who is dubbed by another knight) that might have a hard time convincing others they are in fact a knight at times, an an anointed knight who's knighted 'officially' during a religious ceremony.

I think I read somewhere that it was supposed to be Jon but they had to change the script because Kit thought it was weird because he knew Maisie since she was a kid.

This actually ended up being one of my favorite episodes. 2nd favorite of this season for sure. A very emotional episode for me. Briann knighted, Pods song and Jamie standing his ground were amazing. The scenes with Arya and the Hound were perfect for their personalities. I agree the scene with Arya and Gendry was weird for us but it makes sense in the moment. She is like 19 and he's in his early 20s. Pretty normal really. It's just weird bc we've known her since she was so small.

If I had the choice between Jamie and Tormund I would pick Tormund :) I'm adding notes as I'm watching haha. It's pretty obvious in the books that Gendry and Arya like each other, and the age gap in the books isn't very big. Only a couple of years.

Rewatching the rewatch. "You are the summary of the five people you spend the most time around." Interesting I'd never heard the English language version of the Spanish saying I heard as a kid: "Dígame con quien andas, y te digo quien éres." Tell me who you go/walk with and I'll tell you who you are. Also, let's all appreciate Nat's dancing when the Rocky theme music goes 11 💛 she I believe would be a fan of 60s/ 70s soul and early disco. Btw the song playing on the radio when Rocky's icing his head is Kool n the Gang, Summer Madness "follow me for more useless information" 👍 Damn, I feel like she doesn't get Mick though. My boxing coach was actually from Philadelphia lol an old grouchy Vietnam vet, first five minutes he lined us up and punched us in the stomach one at a time, we were expressly forbidden from tensing out abs to absorb it, we had to take a gut punch to the diaphragm, if we flexed our abs or blocked in any other way, we would take another much harder punch. Every one of us obeyed that order and as he want down the line every one of us buckled and grabbed the floor with one hand. The lesson was, it's better to be prepared. The more you sweat in training the less you bleed in battle 😜
