When will the Black Widow movie reaction come out? Can't wait to see it ☺️

Andrew Clifton

Whooooo so glad your doing rocky. I hope you get to do all of them. Once you start down the Rocky rabbit hole there is no turning back lol. Also super stoked to see all that GOT this week. I hope you enjoyed your week off and got to have a good time with your family.

Christopher French

Hey! We'll get to watch the last semi-decent episodes of GoT this week. But hoooo boy we are getting at the season we're all waiting for.

Essero Eson

AH!...Jump scares are not funny. Unless it happens to someone else. That shit is hilarious.

Danishprince

What a nice surprise and you enjoyed the time off, it was well deserved!

Anonymous

What a welcome surprise on this otherwise uneventful Monday! Thanks, Nat!

Aaron Chandler

Well, Monday was looking to be a bleak day until just now.

Randee Carreno

Happy Monday, Natalie! 😊 I'm so happy that you enjoyed your week with your family. And I'm so excited to watching your reaction to the first "Rocky" movie. I hope that you'll continue on with this series at some point. The sequels are just as excellent. The "Rocky V" sequel movie is about 50/50, in my opinion. And the 2 "Creed" movies are a great continuation of the "Rocky" franchise. I'm watching this reaction right away. 😊 This week's remaining schedule looks good. Have a great day today! 😊 Until the next video, Stay Golden! 💛

Darryl Low

Great to see you back Nat, and glad you enjoyed your break with your family. Always great to get a surprise video from you, and filming in a new location and mixing things up. And your video composition looks perfect. This kind of character movie is right up your street Nat. Loved you grooving along to the Rocky theme, and the "Adrian!!" moment was just brilliant. It was Sylvester's brother Frank who is the leader of the singers at the corner of his street. Thanks for a great video and surprise today Nat. Hope all goes well on Tyler's movie 💛

Anonymous

Welp Parasite it is. Guess I’ll have to find something else to do Friday. Ohhhhh!

Dani

When are we getting Black Widow?

Calo Grsf

When it will be officially "released", and we won't have to pay extra to watch it

E Keys

would highly recommend if you haven't watched it.

Mike LL

Well, Surprise, Surprise! (to quote a noted Marine)

JayyDTR

Glad you enjoyed your break! What a great week lined up, and have been itching to re-watch Parasite for a while.

Brandon Scott

Immediately watching this! I'm so excited for this. I hope you loved it as much as I did.

Joe Blankenship

Woohoo! I love this movie. And the sequels.

Rocky Rocky Rocky 😀

hehe heheheheh : ''anal'' ;)

Welcome back Nat hope you've had a fantastic vacation you have been missed, what a nice surprise ROCKY unsure when I will get to it mind darts league restarts tonight so will be off to the pub but I look forward to your reaction when I get to it 👍

Matt Camburn

The split decision means one judge decides who wins one said rocky wins, one said apollo wins, and the last just decides. You see apollo celebrate a little bit implying he won the decision. But rocky didnt care, he just wanted to see adrian. Also a couple interesting things, when someone throws rocky the orange when he's doing the iconic running scene, it wasnt actually scripted and they where filming in a real market, the guy throwing it was purely random chance. Also the dog was actually stallones, when he wrote the film he was broke and ended up having to sell the dog for $60, when he managed to sell the film, the first thing he did was go back and buy the dog, even though the guy charged him reportedly from $3000-$15000.

Anonymous

You have no idea how happy I was when I saw the notification that you’d watched this movie. As a native Philadelphian, it meant so much to see how you enjoyed it (and that you’re an Eagles fan to boot!). I really hope you consider watching the sequels, too, including the Creed films.

Anonymous

Mick wasn't saying to not see his girlfriend but just not to have sex with her...an old superstition

ButtyOh

One of my fave films of all time. Is this gonna be a one off or will you react to the other 5 rocky films + the 2 Creed spin off films?

Jomero

Yeah, Rocky didn't care too much about who won or not. His goal was to "go the distance" with Creed, IE: last all 15 rounds with Creed since nobody had ever previously done that with him. And he was overjoyed over that and just wanted to share that moment with Adrian.

ButtyOh

This reaction alone makes me so happy that i decided to join your patreon over the weekend

codenamewitch xx

Would love to see you watch Battlestar Galactica now that you are caught up on MCU

Theoshin

This made my week thank you

So many behind-the-scenes stuff about this film. Stallone got the inspiration for Rocky from real-life boxer Chuck Wepner, who managed to last until the 15th Round in a match against Muhammed Ali. Stallone was basically broke when he wrote the script, even selling his dog Butkus. After shopping the script around, he finally sold it, but on the condition that he also got to play Rocky despite the studio's desire to cast a well-known star like Robert Redford. Upon getting paid, Stallone tracked the guy he sold his dog to and bought Butkus back. Of course, Butkus would appear in the movie. During the date when Adrian (Talia Shire) comes up to Rocky's room, she had a serious case of the flu, but Stallone bit the bullet and kissed her anyway. Also, Stallone choreographed the climactic fight, and they filmed all the rounds in reverse order, applying all the Round 15 prosthetic makeup at the start and removing it little by little until they got to Round 1.

Ben Wheeler

Carl Weathers (Greef Karga from Mandalorian) as Apollo Creed!

Brandon Scott

Ok, so I'm sure others will fill you in on some of the things you asked but I'm just gonna list a couple of things. In this fight (and in many back then) there were 15 rounds. They don't really do that anymore. So there were three judges that keep score during the fight and at the end, if no one has one by the last bell, they tally the score cards from each judge and that's how they get a winner. A split decision just means that the judges weren't unanimous in their decision. I'm so glad to see that you enjoyed this movie for all the right reasons and you really saw what I love about this movie in all the right places. That scene at the end, the deep understanding that Adrian has about what Rocky had accomplished and what it really truly meant to him is, in my opinion, one of the most satisfying and beautiful moments in the past 50 years of cinema (not to mention, Rocky and Adrian are my all time #1 cinema-ship, hands down). I know you and every one else who hasn't seen it thinks this is a "sports" movie but it's obviously about hope and courage and the willingness to stand and take that one shot even if you don't believe you can win. Sometimes taking the shot and taking it with dignity and determination and sacrifice, sometimes that's all that really matters. Sometimes that's the only victory one needs. Beyond that the facts about how this movie were made are astounding to me. Stallone did write this because at the time he was tired of playing Rambo in basically every movie he was offered. He wasn't Schwarzenegger. Stallone was a trained actor who wanted a role he could really stretch in. The studio turned him down at first and then, once they took on the project, tried their damnedest to cast someone else in the role but Stallone refused to let them. They made this movie with a tiny budget and, if I'm not mistaken, they shot the entire thing in like three weeks. And then it goes on to win 3 oscars and spawn one of the most successful film franchises of all time (most of which Stallone also wrote and a couple of which he directed). I was so excited to watch this with you and I want to thank you for allowing me to watch it sort of for the first time again. Thank you. This was a great surprise.

Zack Wallace

Super excited to learn that you’re an Eagles fan!

Steve J

Well, I don't even really consider the first Rambo movie a 'Rambo' movie. it wasn't till the sequels that it went all crazy 80's action/explosions.

ButtyOh

Boxing matches have 3 judges that preside over the fight and give each fighter points. For things like number of strikes landed and stuff If a fight goes the distance with no clear winner (aka one fighter ko'ing the other) the judges scores decide the winner If all 3 judges give more points to one fighter, said fighter wins by Unanimous Decision You get a split decision if two judges give more points to one fighter and the third judge gives more points to the other fighter. In which case the one with the two judges siding with them wins

dieselbeast

I'm so happy you reacted to this!!!! I enjoyed watching it with you!!!! Pleeassseeee watch rocky two three and four, five and six aren't crucial but two three four are just as good if not more so, I know you'll love them!!!!!

Justin Credible

Rocky 2 is definitely worth a watch. 3 is if you're really into the series. 4 and 5 you can skip. Creed is good. Creed 2 of okay.

Jimmie V

Paulie gets way less credit than he deserves even being a jerk. He was giving Rocky all the meat (protein necessary for training) and eventually hooked Rocky up with Adrian by making the dick move on thanksgiving. If you watch, he is also the guy who holds up the ropes for Adrian. And yeah, I'm always a bigger fan of you doing non-comic con movies, but you gotta appease the Black Widow fans, haha.

Calo Grsf

Adriaaann! hahah Hi Nat! Welcome back and Happy Monday Reaction 😄 A totally unexpected surprise, thank you so much 😃, it was a lovely and funny reaction (special mention to eggs and music hahaha), it makes me giggle when you realised the "Adrian" line 😆 And of course nice to hear you enjoyed your family time😁, and koda who wants to be interesting, so cute 🥰 even if he is very well camouflaged 😆 I hope you're fine, take care, be safe and stay golden! 💛

The story of making Rocky is just as great as the movie.

It Hurt A Lot

I really want her to watch Rocky 3 and 4 mainly so she can sing and dance to Eye of the Tiger

Anonymous

You need to watch all the Rocky movies! It’s amazing!

Tay Schumaker

5 you can skip. 4 is an essential Rocky movie. Granted at that point it’s full on ridiculous, but outside 1 I would say 4 is the most iconic and well known Rocky film. And is necessary viewing before Creed 2

Laura Thornley

Hell yeah, so glad you watched this too! Its not a perfect movie, but its one of the better movies from the 70's in my opinion. Oddly timeless.

Aaron Chandler

The best sports movies are rarely about sports. The sport is used as a backdrop to tell real compelling and emotional human stories. Rocky isn't really about boxing. Field of Dreams isn't about baseball. Rudy and Brian's Song isn't about football.

Theoshin

I hope you look into some oh the backstory about Stallone and this movie. How about the studio wanted to buy the screen play, but wouldn't ley him play rocky, and at this time he was poor he had to sell his dog because he couldn't feed it. Then Finally the Studio gave him much less, and as soon as he got the money he bought his dog back ( the same dog that is in the movie).

Aaron Chandler

These movies get progressively cheesier as they go on, but the best movie line I ever heard is in Rocky VI. And Creed is a great movie, but she needs to watch the rest of the Rocky films first.

Bubba Fett

Good for a stand alone movie or do the series, rocky IV is prob my favorite of all of them. What ever you decide with the rocky series, don't overlook the gem Over the Top.

Dooly

Ooh a classic

john collins

I hope you watch Rocky 2! Rocky 1-4 are all GREAT! I'd love to see you watch the two creed movies as well

JediLounger

Glad you enjoyed Rocky. As another poster said, the dog was actually owned by Stallone, he had to sell it but bought it back later for a large sum of money. Another fun fact is Stallone kept the turtles, and they are still around, being in their mid 40s now.

Ilsuk Yang

Rocky should've won this fight in the first round actually. The count was started late because of Rocky going crazy and not going to his corner after he knocked down Creed. Because of this, Creed was able to get up at the count of 8 beating the 10 count (boxers have until the count of 10 to get up or else they lose the fight). So, if Rocky just went to his corner like he was supposed to, he would've won the fight! But I actually think what happened was very indicative of how "green" Rocky is in a big-time fight. He never fought in a big time match before so he let his emotions go a little too much.

chicks dig me

Rocky Isnt a boxing movie, it's a love story.

Anonymous

Ahh yes, Season 8 begins and The Long Night is upon us

Darryl Low

Field of Dreams is such a beautiful movie and I really hope Nat gets to watch it at some point.

Frank Rosales

Most of Creed's dialogue in the fight was just trash talking Rocky nothing important. Three judges have a points card and they give rounds to who they believed who won each round at the end the winner with the most rounds gets the win Rocky won one of the Judges score cards out of the three and Creed won two of the cards giving Creed a split decision win. Also they put Vaseline petroleum jelly around the eyes and face so when they get hit it doesn't cut to easily. Boxing doesn't go 15 rounds for championship fights anymore since 1982 when a boxer died and was changed to 12 rounds for title fights. Rocky 2 is a must now that you seen the first also if you want to go the Rocky route you can stop on the 4th movie.

chicks dig me

Natalie, 3 Oscar's including best picture, with Talia Shire, Carl Weathers, Burgess Meredith and Burt Young along with Sly, all nominated for Oscars.

Brian Jones

This movie is about the heart, not the boxing. Pretty much all the Rocky films are that way, and I'd even highly suggest watching the first three (they start to get a bit absurd after that, other than Creed) if you like it. The story of Stallone coming up in the business and what he had to go through to get this film done is really great if you take the time to look into it. They were literally doing costume changes out of the back of a van. It's a great read if you have the time. New location is fine Nat.

Prophet2272

Just had to say 2 things: 1. I still use to this day the "Eat lightning and crap thunder" line. 2. This reaction made my week(even though we just started it)loved it.

chicks dig me

Hmm, no. Balboa got up on ''8'' because he heard the ref counting down.

Stallone was my father's favorite actor, and he loved boxing, so on my father's birthdays and deathdays, I watch Rocky movies. I miss my dad. I hope you do the rest of them. (You can skip V(5))...

Heh heh "anal" lol Sorry...had to

E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!!….also check out Raging Bull…a boxing but not boxing movie.

William Connery

That means Thursday is a big, big one…..can’t wait

Alan Kobb

Welcome back, Natalie! Happy New Year! By the way, how does a New York girl become an Eagles fan! There's something very, very wrong about that! By the way, most "sports" movies aren't really sports movies. 42 was a story about breaking the color barrier with baseball as the background. A League of Their Own is a similar theme of women fighting discrimination, but Tom Hanks is fantastic! Bull Durham and Tin Cup are basically the same Rom-Com painted on a baseball or Golf canvas with the same star, but Bull Durham stars the great Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins in in a love triangle with Kevin Costner at his best. Both take these big-time sports to their gritty minor league venues and the crazy characters. Field of Dreams is a spiritual movie. Froday Night Lights is not so much about the football as it is the people of this small Texas town. The Longest Yard (the original) is about a group of inmates who regain some of their dignity through a football game. Rudy is about a young scrapper who never gives up, and it stars Samwise Gamgee, so you know it's good! Hoosiers is the basketball version of Rudy. Both are inspiring. The Color of Money isn't really about pool. It's one of Paul Newman's finest movies about an aging former star trying to teach a brash Tom Cruise how to win. OK. Major League and Dodgeball are sports movies, but they are hilarious!

panacamanana

Rocky is one of those movies you never watched because it's not a great series. They're ok. But to each their own.

Joe Blankenship

Parts 2, 3, and 4 are also pretty fun to watch. 5 is skippable. Part 6 isn't bad. And the Creed movies with Michael B. Jordan are really good.

Brian Jones

At the very least she should watch 2 and 3..... 4 goes a bit into the absurd, but the first three are all still excellent films that hold up well. And yeah, the first Creed film is genius. The second one was good as well.

Essero Eson

If you enjoyed Stallone in this then you might highly enjoy another film of his called Oscar.

Anonymous

Sylvester Stallone still owns those two turtles, Cuff and Link, and they had a cameo in 2018’s Creed 2.

Matthew Periolat

Yo, Natalie, this is a good one. Seriously, it took me years to really appreciate and get why this movie is a classic. Not about winning, just proving to yourself you are something special. And you do that… you win the world. Adrian telling Rocky she loves him tears me up to this day for that reason. Would LOVE to see the rest, if you are game. Five more, plus the Creed movies. And actually, you could use this to springboard to Karate Kid too. Regardless, real treat, really fun and thanks for a good time.

Al Baughman

So glad you watched this movie it's an all-time classic. I really hope you watch Rocky II, to me it is equally as good as the first. It's up to you if you keep going after that one, but at least watch 2. Slyvester Stallone still has those 2 turtles Cuff & Link!

Anonymous

what a sweetheart! glad for you rocky fans =)

Anonymous

meticulous is a good word other than anal lol...

Anonymous

I hope she does the whole series too. Rocky Balboa is the last movie I saw with my dad before he passed. I got him to come out to the theater, which was very very rare for him to do.

James M

Nice reaction! I love Rocky because it's not really about boxing or sports at all. Rocky IV is so deep 80s it's a must watch!

Jon Hoover

It's an amazing series. Some of the most inspirational sports movies ever. Everybody's entitled to their opinion. It's one thing to say it's not for you, but I hate when people act like 95% of the people are wrong. Rocky is just one of the most beloved series of all time.

Jon Hoover

Uhm Nat, the cat eye glasses weren't retro back then. They were current when this movie was shot.

Joe D. MacGuffinstuff

The racket ball is a boxing thing, with hand-eye coordination. Boxed a little in the Army, best workout ever, had me maxing the PT test no problem. This movie, you can't help but get motivated to train, with that montage and the horns lol. Yeah I was wondering how the first date scene was going to go over, didn't age well, even I find it a little cringey watching it now. Also I always had a little crush on Talia Shire, but more as Connie from The Godfather, btw, fun fact, she's Francis Ford Coppola's. sister, and Jason Schwartzman's mother. Lol my dad used to drink raw eggs before going for runs when I was a kid. The no sex thing, it's not about avoiding women per se, it's just the sexual release, it's to keep you angry, apparently sexual frustration is great for bringing out aggressiveness lol. Like the ice water scene in Raging Bull 😂 Going to the body like Rocky is devastating, most people think it's all about the head shots, sure you hit that button on the chin the guy's generally speaking going down, but body shots, especially the liver, it HURTS, you can't breathe, and in the right spot your body involuntarily drops out from under you almost as bad as taking a hook to the jaw. Just watch Antonio Gatti take and somehow survive that liver punch in his first fight with Mickey Ward, incredible fight btw, one of the best in modern times. Yeah they're opening up his sinuses in that pre-fight scene Nat, cardio is vital in combat sports. I really feel like Sylvester Stallone in this movie is channeling his own struggle as an actor/writer at this point in his life, and it's what makes this character so relatable. Have to say he also did a great job in First Blood (the first and best Rambo movie, it had a heart, the sequels to me were ridiculous). Yeah I don't know about Philadelphia, I've never been there but I think Bill Burr had a point in his infamous Philly Rant, they have a statue of Rocky, a fictional character, but not one of Smokin Joe Frazier, who was champ and had some of the most epic fights with, and beat, Muhammad Ali. Maybe they do now but if so it took them long enough. Title bouts back in the day were 15 three minute rounds. The first time I fought 3 three minute rounds I thought my heart was going to explode like the Alien out of my chest. In the end it was all about the hero getting the girl ❤️ he didn't even care to hear the judges' score. So glad Nat enjoyed it, was worried she wouldn't.

Misty Crom

Some fun and interesting things on this one... firstly, that Butkus was Stallone's actual dog. Also, Stallone apparently wrote the script in just 3 and a half days. Also, ironically, during filming of the fight, Carl Weathers' nose was injured and Stallone got bruised ribs (ironic since their characters injuries were the reverse). Also, mostly agreed on others suggesting watching the series... 2 is great, 3 and 4 are largely a lot of fun... 5, yeah, is kinda skippable, but if you want to see out of morbid curiosity/completionism, is fair enough, and Rocky Balboa (6) is a great book-end to the franchise ... which then continues with Creed. I guess it bookends Rocky's story. One other thing... Sylvester Stallone is probably the best person I've ever heard a commentary of on a DVD/Blu-Ray. On First Blood and either this or Balboa (maybe both). anyone who can check the films out with his commentary, I'd very highly recommend it. excellent pacing, good variety of information, and never boring. The only others I'd genuinely generally recommend are the Kung-Fu Panda director commentary, and Taika Waititi's commentary for Thor: Ragnarok, for very different reasons.

Jon Hoover

Can we watch Mr. Mom next? There's a connection, I swear.

Daniel Vezina

60$ for 60 min of alone icetime, thinking even back then that was pretty cheap....

Robert Avila

So glad you did this movie. My favorite reaction videos are from iconic movies, and this definitely qualifies. I'd consider this one of the best, if now THE best, sports movie, It was more about the people involved instead of the actual sport. Thank you so much for surprising us with this one. It's also a bonus whenever we get to see your beautiful puppy!

Cripkie

im a lefty. Down here the stereotype is your sensitive. Could be worse, i remember my mum said when she was a kid it ment you had a devil within.

Cripkie

i never thought of this movie as about fighting. i always remembered it as a film about last chances.

Cripkie

no mick means by "women weaken the legs" is that when you have someone else who depends on you its a lot harder to walk into the frey.

Cripkie

koda freaked out because you were stressed. They have empathy just like we do.

Lorenzo Turner

That's not what he meant. There's a long held belief in the fight game that having sex during training camp reduces you athletic ability.

Anonymous

If you are an eagles fan you need to watch invincible with mark wahlberg.

Myles Away

At that point they would have been considered out of style. It was visual language to say she is not cool and is kind of nerdy. Just like Rocky's glasses weren't hipster glasses it was visual language to say he doesn't have a lot of money and will wear whatever glasses he can get.

Anonymous

OMG, that was such a great surprise! Loved the chance to rewatch this classic — and with someone who was experiencing it for the first time! (I did this with my daughters growing up, and watching you see it for the first time just gave me all the feels.)

Anonymous

I also love that Stallone *still* has the two turtles from this movie,

Anonymous

Boxers don't run to maintain weight. It's for the cardio. 15 rounds of throwing punches as hard as you can uses up a lot of O2

Ronny Boss

In hindsight I probably should have checked to see what streaming service airs this before I bought the DVD after work...Idiot 😂

Laura Thornley

Huh, small connection in my head - Micky is 76. Its 1976/77. Micky was born in 1900 (or round abouts). Also its a big deal because 1976 was the bicentennial of America as an independent nation. Hence Apollo dressing up as George Washington.

Anonymous

I hope you choose to watch the whole series including the Creed series. Other than 5, they are all good movies.

Kevin Mowery

I'm not a huge sports movie fan, but in addition to Rocky, I'd recommend Slap Shot (starring Paul Newman) and The Longest Yard (the original with Burt Reynolds, not the remake).

JarHead0351

Love Rocky - Sylvester Stallone grew up a few blocks from me and also we went to the same High School (he was 2yrs ahead of me) - Got a chance to meet and hang out with him on the set of Rocky 3, while in the Marines. Look real hard during the fight which he loss to Mr T. 4th row from the ring in a red Marine Corp Jacket - Had a blast and even got to to dinner with his brother Frank Stallone - Everyone loves a underdog...

Kevin Mowery

While I was on HBO, just saw Saturday Night Fever is on there. Another great underdog following his dreams story.

Anonymous

This would be a great series to continue, movie 5 is meh but 2, 3,4 and the Creed movies are good watches.

REDR58

One of the more interesting things to me about this movie compared to the later ones is seeing how much the Philadelphia skyline changes. It’s so different now than it was in 1976.

REDR58

Speaking of the dog, Rocky’s turtles, Cuff and Link were still alive as of 2019, aged about 44 years old at the time: https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/stallone-keep-rocky-turtles/

Andrew Clifton

Wow just finished watching it finally. Been working many many hours so I haven't had much free time. A few things I'll comment on. 1. This fight is at heavyweight so they don't have to cut any weight. The running is to have enough cardio to go 15 rounds. Fighting is one of the most exhausting things you can do. This is why most street fights last less than a minute. This fight was 15 3 minute rounds. Now in days boxing matches never go past 12 rounds. 2. Apollo won the fight by split decision. There are 3 judges scoring the fight. 1 scores it for Rocky and the other 2 for Apollo. If all 3 had scored it for the same fighter it would have been a unanimous decision. 3. Apollo was saying at the end of the fight "Ain't gonna be no rematch" and Rocky replied "I don't want one. 4. When Rocky told her to wish him luck she wanted to say she loved him but couldn't work up the nerve. She finally did after the fight. Paulie means we'll but he has a lot of demons. I really hope you continue and do parts 2 through 5 as well as the more recent movie "Rocky Balboa". Imo part 4 is the best movie of them all. I loved your reaction and was so happy you did this one.

Jeff Clark

Paulie is one of my favorite characters from any media of all time, he's so subtly complex. There's a shot of him in photo in a naval uniform looking highly decorated - the implication is that he had to give up a successful career in the Navy to look after his younger sister when their parents died and ended up drinking and becoming resentful of where his life ended up. He starts off trying to get his sister to find a partner and live her life, even if he is overly forceful about it. And as the series progresses you see his character unravel.

My_Cousin_Mose

I love how hard it is to hear who won at the end. Who won wasn't really the point. The point was he went the distance and Adriane. Apollo won by split decision, which I believe means only 2/3 judges scored him as the victor.

My_Cousin_Mose

It would be cool if you did more of the series. At least the sequel. In my spoiler free opinion (probably not super popular) Rocky 1, 2, and Rocky Balboa are the only really good stories. 3-5 are mostly just fight movies, and Creed was a lame cashgrab. But you can't just do 1,2 and Balboa. You'd have to watch numbers 2-4 first (I wouldn't recommend 5 to anyone lol) and I'd skip Creed but thats just me. I'd be happy to get into this more after you finish the series or declare you'll never watch another Rocky film.

Logan Kerlee

Super enjoyed watching this with you Natalie! This here is probably my favorite boxing movie. There are a number of others but this one holds the top spot because of the emotional impact that it has with me. Like you said many times throughout, the theme is amazing. I feel that it's beautiful and inspiring. Glad that you checked this out! :) I wasn't a huge fan of the sequels, I wouldn't recommend them. If you do wind up watching them though, I'll totally sit through them and share my thoughts on each.

My_Cousin_Mose

I second this. While Personally I love "Rocky Balboa" as well, the first 2 are a self contained story and a good one at that.

Anonymous

If you loved rocky, you're going to love rocky II. I actually think it's the better movie.

Mister Lou

AWESOME! I finally got around to watching this with you! and I really really REALLY hope you eventually react to the rest of this great franchise! and the Creed movies too

I think Nat would love "For Love of the Game", even if she doesn't understand some baseball stuff. As despite being very "baseball", it's also got so many emotional moments that aren't just about baseball but about life itself. Absolute crime that it did so poorly at the box office though.

I like all the Rocky films even Rocky 5 mainly because of Tommy Morrison. I watched him fight in my teenage years. He was a gifted boxer but his life was very hard.

This is my birth movie 1976 😀😀😀

Those turtles were actually his in the movie and so was the dog he was always visiting. Actually he still has his turtles.

Yeah Rocky was a better boxer than an enforcer . He's no Joe Pechi

There things I want to say about Rocky but I can't but if I do it will be spoilers , I will say he does stay humble throughout the series.

Even if you don't want to watch the full Rocky/Creed film series (I actually like them all to varying extents), you should at least check out Rocky II.

The whole point of Rocky, the thing that makes it Steinbeckian art, is that he knows that he can't win. There's simply no way. He just doesn't want to lose. He just wants to be there standing when the final bell rings. How much more heroic is it when someone perseveres even knowing that they cannot win? Also, anyone who hasn't seen the fascinating story behind the making of this film is really missing out. The best thing about this movie though, and many people miss it, is his love for Adrienne (sp?) and the way it manifests at the end. When she runs to him in the ring, losing her hat along the way, this man who just achieved the greatest thing in his life, the greatest thing he will ever accomplish, who can barely see, barely stand, when she reaches him the first thing he says to her is "where's your hat?"... THAT is how much he's into her. True love is selfless love. One quick aside - for Nat, I suspect that 'Rudy' would be the sports film that REALLY gets her.

Please stop here. You won't like the sequels. I do, but watching you watch them and be disappointed will mean I don't like you none too much neither.

Apollo says there won't be a rematch and Rocky says he doesn't want one but there's I think 5 or 6 sequels so spoiler there's a rematch. I watched Ken Burns' 4 part PBS documentary on the life and career of Muhammad Ali last week and I now realize there are bits and pieces of Rocky that are direct parallels to Ali's story.
