Favorite episode of this season, can't wait to watch this later.

Ian

Been waiting for this one so excited to hear your thoughts on this episode and the reaction I already know will be amazing, drink check! snack check! Let's go 💛

Randee Carreno

Getting this downloaded now to watch tonight. 😊 This has been a good season. Looking forward to watching this episode reaction this evening. Have a great day today, Natalie! 😊 And until the next video, Stay Golden! 💛

mike

This show doesn't glorify war a lot but I love it that when it does, it's for tyrion, someone no one takes for a hero.

Danishprince

Almost done with season 2 and 25% of the show.. The time has gone by fast :D

Steven Tarsitano

the episode 9 is typically the climax of each season, and episode 10 is usually aftermath/closing of the season.

Ian

Great speech hound hahaha that had me in stitches Nat OMG that was funny 😂 😂

Anonymous

I dont think Natalie realized that the one who hurt Tyrion was a KINGSGUARD.

Justin Credible

Make sure to pay attention to the song Bronn and the other Lannister soldiers are singing. They also play it over the end credits.

Anonymous

And I dont think its a spoiler to say that series finale are usually only to wrap up the season and setup characters for the next season. Episode 9 is where stuff happens in all seasons.

Darryl Low

A good episode which really highlighted that, when your backs against the wall, who do you want on your side? Great video Nat. Thanks 💛

Tranquil_Gnome

The man who plays Bronn was a musician/singer in a former life. UK famous. He will sing a few times more in the series. And you might have missed this but a few episodes ago Malisandre told someone that they would die by fire. Looks like she was right.

Ilsuk Yang

The Mountain's real nme is Gregor Clegane and the Hound's real name is Sandor Clegane. The Hound fled because of the fire (remember the creepy story Littlefinger told Sansa about the Mountain and the Hound?). The series follows a certain structure that I'm sure you'll see as you get deeper into it. You seem pretty smart, so you may have seen the pattern already!

Martin Firth

TRIVIA: The actor who plays Bronn used to be in a boy band in the UK called Robson and Jerome. He also used to date Lena Headey and they refused to do scenes together.

Calo Grsf

Nice reaction, thank you Nat! 😄 You were funny in this episode, and yeah The Hound knows how to motivate his troops, a true poet 😆 And Bronn is a really cool character too, I like that you like him haha I can't wait for the next episode! Stay golden and be safe 💛

RocktSurgeon

The hound is deathly afraid of fire, that was what effected him rather than being saved by Anton. They’ve been showing the fear here and there (especially early in this episode) but I don’t think he really explains it for a while still and won’t spoil that. He’s a great, tragic character.

I had a lot of fun watching thiw with you, Natalie. It's a key moment in the series. A lot goes on with The Hound, Sandor Clegane. I can give you some spoiler-free history. Sandor's grandfather was the Kennelmaster for Lord Tytos Lannister (Tywin's father). Once he saved Tytos from a Lioness, losing a leg and 3 dogs. Lord Tytos rewarded him with lands, a house and tower (making him a minor lord), and made Clegane's son his squire. Sandor was taught from a young age that he owed feality to the Lannisters. You've heard the story of how his older brother, Gregor burned him as a child. Sandor grew up hating everything about Gregor. He refused to become a knight because Gregor became one and had no respect for knights because Gregor preys on the weak in violation of his vows. Because Sandor does whatever a Lannister asks and is one of the most fearsome fighters around, Cersei made him Prince Joffrey's personal bodyguard, and King Joffrey added him to the Kingsguard. So, Sandor has been Joffrey's loyal servant for years, and has hated every moment of it. Finally, seeing the Blackwater burning was enough. Sandor was deathly afraid of the fire, and he lost all will to fight and realized that he didn't like the people he was fighting for. I'm not certain if it's the same one, and maybe someone else will corrrect me, but in Season 1, Ned gave Sansa a doll as a gift, and she rejected it because she was angry at him and yelled that she was too was old for dolls. Obviously she regrets that. Tyrion's flesh wound. On TV they got a fairly handsome Peter Dinklage to play Tyrion. In the books, Tyrion is an ugly little man by all accounts. Add to that a big facial scar, and he becomes even more the Imp than before. See the picture I linked to see an illustration. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/content/dam/tv/2016/04/04/tyrion1_trans_NvBQzQNjv4BqqVzuuqpFlyLIwiB6NTmJwfSVWeZ_vEN7c6bHu2jJnT8.jpg?imwidth=450

I can't wait for the finale! It's been so fun watching these along with you!

nataliegold

Yes! I totally missed it in this reaction and only pieced it together while watching a future episode! Some of the outfits/costumes that signify what side people are on are still hard for me to remember

Jason

The Hound is shooken up because he saw people burning alive. He is traumatized because he was burned by his brother when he was young, hence his burns (This was explained by Littlefinger to Sansa when introducing the Hound at the jousting tournament, but you may have missed it). He saw his people doing to other what was done to him and had a shift in his loyalty.

Steven Hok

Loved your reaction for this Natalie. Excited to watch the season finale with you!

Starromania72

For an episode filled with the sounds of battle, there are some really nice quiet moments, where they drop the music briefly a) the flight of Bronn's flaming arrow across the bay; and b) Cersei with Tommen in the throne room. Proves you don't have to saturate everything with an orchestra to colour the mood of a scene.

Anonymous

Description of a successful surprise attack on an enemy flank: General Patton: "Hold em by the nose and kick em in the ass!" General Nat: "They're fucking em in the asshole! Yay!!" Love your tactical critiques, Natalie! Keep em comin!

You should absolutely listen to the lyrics of the end credit song of this episode. It's basically the Lannister theme song called "The Rains of Castamere". It alludes to the destruction of another house at the hand of Tywin Lannister that also had a lion as their banner, House Reyne. The song's melody will become very relevant in a climactic later episode.

Sean

I haven't watched yet and I'm very curious exactly how this, of all possible things, becomes part of this reaction. 🤣

Kevin Anand

Stannis is the GOAT. Right in the front lines fighting with his men,

Anonymous

Yeah, there's plenty to dislike about Stannis, but the man is brave and his men will find that inspiring. In the lead boat and first over the wall is pretty badass.

Anonymous

And I'll second the recommendation to listen to the rendition of the Rains of Castamere over the credits.

Joseph Phillips

This comic is one of my favorite portrayals of the hound. He acts all mean, but he really has a soft spot in his heart. https://thepunchlineismachismo.com/archives/comic/its-not-like-i-like-you-or-anything

Stannis the goddamn Mannis Love the guy despite his flaws

Chrishart59

Cersei had a drink, had a drink, had a drink, and skipped the snacks. Drunk Cersei is the best.

Anonymous

A few to add to your list of considerations. Life Aquatic, Kung Fu Hustle, Royal Tenenbaum,

Anonymous

Cersei did not kill Lancel lol, she only shoved him in his arrow wound.

Ben Gilshenan

natalie as a FYI the 9th episode (penultimate) in most seasons is when something big will happen season 1 was when ned stark was killed and season 2 is the battle for the blackwater keep that in mind for future seasons ( for later seasons with lest episodes its the second last episode)

Michael Patrick

Suggestion: Go on Youtube after each season and watch the “Blu-Ray menu” videos for each season. They are about 90 seconds long but are soooo well made. As an editor, I really appreciate the effort that went into them. 👍

Michael Patrick

AMEN...I think every single episode throughout the entire show has intentional music selected for the credits

JediLounger

For me this episode is where the series started to decline in quality. While it is a perfectly fine episode, the battle in the book is so much better it’s not even funny.

Anonymous

George R. R. Martin said in an interview or a commentary (can't remember) that Tyrions injury (in the book where he loses part of his nose) was inspired by an episode of The Twilight Zone he worked on where a stunt person actually got a similar injury.

Anonymous

I remember hearing some fun behind the scenes stuff for this battle, like how the guy who's leg Tyrion chops off was a real amputee that was given a prosthetic to stand on that Peter Dinklage then had to "cut" off from him. Also George R. R. Martin talked quite a lot about the use of helmets in warfare and how it's so unrealistic that the main characters wouldn't use helmets, since they are all wealthy enough to have them, but because we need to see who's who on screen and because the actors want their faces visible they remove the helmets.

Ellis Hugh

Regarding the wyldfire - it burns even underwater, so the sailors jumping into the sea will find no aid...

Anonymous

I adore the song that played during the end credits! I want a full version. I hope you caught it, before moving on, Nat.

Joe D. MacGuffinstuff

This was the episode I realized "a man cannot have 'FEWER' than four (upwards of a dozen) favorite characters," in this show🤘🏽Podrick and the Hound joined the favorites gang after this, Jaqen Haagar is there already. And the show isn't even done introducing characters 🖤

Anonymous

It's The National playing The Rains of Castamere. You can find it on streaming platforms, here is the youtube link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fn3_f30svQI

Andrew Clifton

The Hound was acting like that bc he is terrified by fire and just can't deal with it.

Tommy Ross

Oh come on, "Let's go kill them" is the best ending of a speech in the history of television

Michael Short

Personally I think the only good king (or queen) is one who doesn't want it. lol
