Straws and curls - a deadly combination 😃 I think this is the longest episode so far. Certainly a more sedate pace than the last 2 episodes. Now you know his name, but the shows creator Jon Favreau says it's okay to still call him Baby Yoda. The bad guy who Mando fought at the end was played by Michael Biehn, who played Hicks in Aliens. Loved how you got caught up in the action. Your anxiety was really getting to me, and I knew what was coming! 😃 Love that music cue near the end. Ahsoka is now getting her own tv show. Great reaction as always Nat. Thank you. Looking forward to the next episode.

Jedi Mandalore (Dylan)

So the character mentioned by Ahsoka Grand Admiral Thrawn is not Moff Gideon who is the person after the child. Thrawn is another character who you haven't seen yet (My Fav Star Wars character) had his own trilogy of books which came out at a time when Star Wars was at its lowest in interest over 9 years after Return of the Jedi and around 9 years before the next movie the Phantom Menace so really there was nothing Star Wars related at this time. This was until 1991 when Heir to the Empire released written by Timothy Zahn and set after Return of the Jedi following our beloved original trilogy characters as they go against a new force Grand Admiral Thrawn and his Empire of the Hand. This was followed up by Dark Force Rising in 1992 and The Last Command in 1993 where Thrawn was assassinated by his own body guard while commanding his fleet against the New Republic a fight in which he was wining and would've won defeating the New Republic if not for his death. This trilogy kicked off a massive inteast in Star Wars again and kick started the Expanded Universe from novels, comics, and video games. He himself appeared in Tie Fighter an awesome flight sim from 1994. Everything above is now non canon sense 2014 but Thrawn was brought back in 2016 with Rebels season 3 this time it was set a couple of years before A New Hope and right when Thrawn was promoted to Grand Admiral. In 2017 Timothy Zahn wrote a new trilogy this time it was an Origins story showing us his rise to Grand Admiral starting in the early years of the Empire right after the Clone Wars when the Empire was still using Clone Wars vehicles and ships. The Mandalorian Thrawn is of course linked to Rebels and the canon novels but we can also look at his appearance in the 1990s as that trilogy took place around the same time as the Mandalorian show.

Honestly if you want to watch Clone Wars and Rebels, you might as well just binge them on your own. There's just so many episodes it would be a huge task to tackle for your channel. We probably all agree you'd enjoy them more if you just watched them on your own at your own pace. They are SO good and if not for Mando carrying the franchise right now many of use "younger" Star Wars fans, I.e. millennials and gen Z would say those shows are the reason Star Wars is still relevant today.

Tiger Chu

One of my favorite episodes on the show. The lady who plays the Magistrate is Diana Lee Inosanto. Actress and stunt woman who is also the goddaughter of Bruce Lee...........watch Hot Fuzz

Good stuff Nat

Sean

Ahsoka's concerns about training Grogu do stem from Annie becoming a Sith. She was Annie's padawan.

Matthew Periolat

Totally respect and commend you for not letting Star Wars take over your streams. I do hope Clone Wars and Rebels remains on the radar though, if a twinkle beyond Pluto, as Ahsoka’s story is a good one. Just an arrow for the quiver when you are ready and through the myriad of other projects. Thrawn... well, I refuse to spoil but it’s enough to say with one exception, there is no name in Star Wars expanded lore that strikes as big a cord. He is... Emperor level threat. Yes, that big. But that’s as far as I will go. The Darksaber has ties back to Clone Wars and Rebels too, as does Bo Katan, but you’ll see if/when you get there. As for this, man, this FELT like a Japanese samauri flick. Some of the shot compositions were really just breathtaking. Beautiful deep episode and scratches a deep itch both in lore and in the current series. Cannot wait for more, to see the remaining twists on this path. Let us continue on our way soon enough.

Randee Carreno

Excellent reaction! 😊 This was one of the episodes I was looking forward to you getting to. Rosario Dawson did a fabulous job playing Ahsoka. We now have a name for him, but I'll always call him Baby Yoda. I do call him Grogu as well. Grand Admiral Thrawn was the main villian in an excellent series of books that came out in the 90s. "Heir to the Empire", "Dark Force Rising", and "The Last Command" that took place several years after "Return of the Jedi". Again, I'm super HYPED for these last three episodes. Until the next video, This Is The Way & Stay Golden! 💛

swoop_13-37

I would say there a few choice episodes you would want to record. consult with your local star wars nerd for episodes to record. Honestly half of the last season. And acouple more each season.

swoop_13-37

The "head wear" are tentacles from her species. Just more head.

The Dark Sabre is in the hands of Moff Gideon. Not a spoiler, as you saw him use it to cut open his Tie Fighter when he was shot down in Season 1. Looking forward to you reactions to the last three episodes as there will be some few returning characters. From pretty much all of Star Wars canons. Just an early heads up. When you get to the last episode, stay for the end credits.

Ian

literally finished your casino royale reaction and alert pops up for this lol needless to say i had to watch and it was great your reaction wonderful as always and yep baby has a name :) thought the music in this episode was fantastic creating such tension just epic

NobleSon32

So Moff Gideon has the dark saber if you remember he used it to cut himself out of the crashed tie fighter at the end of season 1. Also, fun fact, Ahsoka was Anakins Padawan during the clone wars and Grand Admiral Thrawn was the empires best military strategist.

It's blasphemous to some but you can watch Clone Wars and Rebels in a condensed way. There are guides online which will tell you what episodes are mostly filler. You lose some of the series depth but still get the plots and characters fleshed out.

TrackHoodie

Important fact to know about Ahsoka, she was Anakin's padawan

It Hurt A Lot

I think Ahsoka being in the episode was just throwing a cookie to all the Star Wars fans watching. It's not super important to know exactly who she is or her backstory. It makes the episode more exciting for sure. But watching Clone Wars and Rebels isn't vital whatsoever in order to watch The Mandalorian

Joe Blankenship

I’ve tried watching The Clone Wars a couple times. I hear it gets better, but the few episodes I watched felt like they were aimed more for kids. Also, this episode made me wonder if the Jedi ever use normal swords. Kinda hard to be stealthy and have your weapon drawn when it’s a big glow stick.

Ulrich Unterbrunner

Thrawn can definetly be researched. He has a strong presence in Rebels, but his fame derives from Legends, where he was the main villain in the book series that played in the same time as the Mandalorian (it is just not official canon). Elsbeth was or is working for him and Ashoka has some special interest of finding him based on her past. The nerds among us immediately recognized that it is about him, as those droids carried the insignia of the 7th Fleet, which is Thrawns force. Thrawn is a Grand Admiral - one of twelve among which all imperial forces were split according to their needs - and the only non-human the Emperor ever bestowed this honor upon. On a final note: This was probably the introduction episode to the Ashoka Tano series which is coming to Disney+ this year or next. Also: Keep up those reactions. Gives me an excuse to rewatch a lot and not having to force my wife to watch along :)

This_Jedi_crafts

I'm glad that you enjoyed the episode even though you haven't watched The Clone Wars or REBELS. It has been said that this episode, in particular, was Dave Filoni's way (He created Ahsoka, along with Geroge Lucas) of "giving something to the fans" after not quite knowing where Ahsoka was (after REBELS). Grand Admiral Thrawn is key to REBELS and, as someone else pointed out, the novel series where he was first seen. The bird creature in the forest is a type of "Spirit animal" (though I think it's real) that follows Ahsoka wherever she goes. Her "hair" is the "mondrials" (forgive me if I mispelled that). Some die hard fans had issue with them not being "long enough" but I was elated to see her. I think (personally) that the reason she couldn't train Grogu is that, while she was fully trained as a Jedi, she technically is not one. She has (to me) the most integrity of almost any character in the Star Wars universe. A character that was introduced in The Clone Wars, she was hated by fans and crew to be one of the most beloved characters in the Star Wars Universe.

Ulrich Unterbrunner

Since they only glow when active and when not are far easier to conceal than a 1 meter sword, it is easier. But yes. According to legends the first lightsabers were used by Jedi about 5.000 to 10.000 years ago. So there was a time Jedi did not use them.

Andrew T

Getting closer to the excellent final chapter of this season. I echo what another commenter said: in the last episode, watch through the credits.

Frankie H

The music that plays when Ahsoka appears at the beginning and at the end was first composed for the Clone Wars cartoon. It's nice that they carried over her original theme music from a different series.

JediLounger

Now the fun begins. Looking forward to the final episodes, glad you enjoyed this one. As others have said, and I said in a comment on a previous episode, Clone Wars and Rebels is totally something you should watch, but I don’t think it’s right for the channel. Perhaps some choice episodes you watch with us, and the rest off screen. But there are simply too many to realistically watch on the channel.

Eric

If your looking to jump into a new genre may I suggest westerns.1993s Tombstone Is a great start Instant classic.

Ron

Hey Natalie, if you're looking for a TV show that takes you in a different direction, I have a couple of suggestions: Sci-fi/Space: Battlestar Galactica (2004)(84 eps) plus the 2003 miniseries 2-parter. David Lynch: Twin Peaks (1990)(30 eps): I noticed you haven't watched/experienced any of his work. And, this is probably his best known work which has a smallish but very loyal fanbase. The quality of this show varied significantly in the second season because Lynch didn't write all of the episodes, but it did end strongly. Over 25 years later, David Lynch and co-creator Mark Frost returned to continue the story *with the same actors* in 2017. (18 eps). Twin Peaks: The Return was entirely directed by Lynch and co-written by Lynch and Frost.

I am preemptively liking this because this will be first time i'm doing a full reaction watch along.I know what happens in the next few episodes obviously... I couldn't wait for the condensed version. You're Golden... I will comment my reaction to your reaction after this :)

Kevin Mowery

I'm sorry Michael Biehn's character had to go and get himself shot here. For one thing, I love when they bring back former enemies to be allies (Mando's real power is making best friends), and for another I love the bit in movies and TV where the henchman says, "Hey, man, I don't even need this job." Right now, I'm hoping you get a crazy urge to just binge and do an immediate follow-up because the next three episodes are all fire. (And stay for the after-credits on the last episode.)

Frank Rosales

Long story short Ahsoka Tano was the Jedi Padawan of Anakin Skywalker stuff happened along the way and was kicked from the Jedi order. That was one reason she couldn't train Grogu though she was a trained Jedi she no longer is one and doesn't have the right to train someone thus why she told him to go to that other planet for him to search out one.

Kevin Mowery

I wouldn't worry about reacting to Clone Wars or Rebels. Between the two of them, that's like 12 seasons of TV. Besides, there's a *bunch* of planned Star Wars shows on Disney+, and all of the MCU shows on Disney+ are 100% canon with the movies (unlike previous shows which are arguably canonical at best). I think Disney's ultimate plan is to basically have one MCU show and one Star Wars show always airing. So I'd say just stick with shows that only lasted a season or two, or that have self-contained seasons so that if you put them down for a while it's no big deal. Suggestions: Stranger Things. Each season is a new story. The stories continue off of each other, but no season ends without the current story ending. Fargo. Each season is completely self-contained except for the occasional reference to earlier seasons. Agent Carter. Yeah, it's another Marvel show. But it only lasted 18 episodes and it's really good.

Mitchell Scott

I've only just realised the smile on ahsoka at the end.. she fucking KNEW! I think she felt who it was going to be. God damnit!

Jeremy Vickers

Just casting my vote for next series in line. If you haven’t seen “Lost” that would be amazing to see you react to. You really get swept away with the characters and each of their stories.

Texas Anla'Shok

I'm finding myself hoping they'll bring Cad Bane in in future seasons.

Ronny Boss

Dag nabbit I completely missed the notification and now I have to wait until I get off work tomorrow to watch 😥 at least I have something to look forward to; to get me through my shift

Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian Season 1 could give you some real insight into the production on the series without spoiling anything for Season 2. Your perspective on production elements is always interesting and what they are doing here will blow your mind!

My favorite episode!! Long time Star Wars fan here! Don't get bogged down in the animated series. If you're enjoying it more than I'm seeing than go ahead but it really is a lot to work through if you're not a big fan. Some good catches from you. The bird in the tree meant something. And "What is that Thing?(35:45)" meant something. Please watch the last four episodes of Clone Wars though, they are excellent!! Seriously! After this episode is when I read that the producers said they looked for inspiration from the things that originally inspired George Lucas in the beginning. Inspirations like samurai movies and westerns. And it shows up in this episode very well. Great episode. The guy you didn't trust... if you haven't watch The Terminator or Aliens then you should watch it with/(or for) us :)

PickettsChargingPort

Natalie, you need to watch a bit of the clone wars to get a feeling for Ahsoka. If you aren't going to watch all of it (It's really long) perhaps specific ones. The last three episodes of season 7 would be enough if you don't plan to watch the rest.

My Toasty Toast

I think echoing everyone here, the Clone Wars is an anthological series so you can skip so many episodes without losing the overall spine of the narrative. While I’m a huge Star Wars fan and would love to see a reaction I also know it would take so long to watch the entire series as well as taxing for you ‘cause there’s an overwhelming amount of Star Wars. If the Clone Wars ever ends up being a reaction series, there’s definitely a list out there that cuts out 90% of the fat/side story arcs.

David Crabtree

Hey Natalie, this goes over the broad strokes and can get you caught up on Clone Wars- https://youtu.be/czMCCuUlAZ8

RebRox65

glad you watched this episode of Mando, because now I get to tell you that now is the time for you to learn more about Bo-Katan and the history of Mandalore before you watch the next episode. It an hour long insight in all things Mandalorian and it will explain everything and make your watching so much more enjoyable, for instance When Mando told Bo-Katan she’s no mandalorian because she removed her helmet, so funny because she the current ruler of home world mandalore and it’s little things like this that make the show ,so please click on this link https://youtu.be/mmBl8Iz8OkE it will be the best hour you’ve spent (I apologise for being so forward, but I just what you to know what we all know so you can enjoy it more) and just to add there are no spoilers to the series at this point (promise)

RebRox65

Sorry me again, just to say with all the new STAR WARS tv shows coming soon, we're told will have crossover episodes, I think this makes it even more important to know history of the star was history.

Ronny Boss

If you are looking for a show after Mando plz consider The Expanse. It's the best sci-fi show on tv in the last decade, and the story, world building, and character development is top notch. You would be doing yourself a great service in storytelling if you watch it privately if you don't react to it The season 1 promo https://youtu.be/kQuTAPWJxNo

Andrew Dickinson

"I have seen what happens to a fully trained Jedi Knight, I will not start this child down this path"......would it have killed you to say, oh, by the way, that Jedi Knight was Darth Vader :)

AC5555

She has watched Aliens. I think it's just hard for one to recognize Michael Biehn really quickly. Hahaha. :) I am disappointed she won't be seeing/reacting to the Clone Wars because to me it's essential Star Wars at this point. But that's only my opinion because I grew up in the prequel era and was a teen when it came out so I watched all of it as well as Rebels. Can't think of the saga without the animated stuff.

Outlaw Wales

For an idea of how bad ass Ahsoka is, consider she had light saber duels with Darth Vader, Maul (twice), Gen. Grievous (twice), once against both Obi-Wan and Anakin, and pretty much every other bad guy in Clone Wars and Rebels. She was also probably the only one that could've kept Anakin from going to the dark side. The last six episodes of Clone Wars season 7 are well worth your time. And you'll see the best animated (maybe best of all Star Wars) lightsaber battle.

Matt Wyatt

You can just binge watch Clone Wars and Rebels all the way through on your own. And not do a reaction, you can just do a review video for these two shows

Anonymous

Ahsoka Tano is one of three Jedi we know still exist during the time period of the Mandalorian. The others are Ezra Bridger and Luke Skywalker. All others are speculation, but a good deal more of them are likely to exist. There are three videos that give you a great overview of The Clone Wars Animated series and Star Wars: Rebels and it's good they are on YouTube. https://youtu.be/KkAfNJsko_8 https://youtu.be/ucqB6TyFA0Y https://youtu.be/P9UDN_-Dqe8

swoop_13-37

Fun fact. Rosario dawson was a fan casting. And the guys who love the fans rolled with it. And so was Sebastian Stan as blank..... And word on the street that character is to be recast. No spoilers.
