So excited for this! Writing this before watching the reaction but it's gonna be so interesting seeing what Nat thinks of it now that she has (finally) seen the movies leading up to it :)

Anonymous

YAY!!!! And on my birthday weekend!!!

Calo Grsf

I was just going to watch it tonight to inaugurate my new 4k TV haha, I hope your weekend went well

TrackHoodie

The craziness of that first month of Avengers in theaters! whoa! For me at least, this was before assigned seating in the major theaters in Los Angeles. Waiting in line with hundreds of people waiting for the movie peeps to open the doors was bedlam! And Natalie, the beanie is fire today!

Drew

Hell yes, been so excited for this. I think everyone would agree that Marvel Phases 2 and 3 only get better and better. Looking back the first Avengers movie really feels so quaint compared to where the series goes. I recently rewatched the whole run because of your reactions and it truly is incredible how good the Marvel films are as a series. I cannot wait. Definitely dont look at cast lists or posters going forward though, you'll spoil some fun moments for yourself.

Niklas

I watched this on the first available screening. Once it was done, I went right back in and saw it again. Saw it four times total in the cinema. Such a fantastic experience after years of buildup.

Anonymous

Anyone else having a problem getting the video to play?

Anonymous

It's awesome seeing you react to this! This movie is very special to me. It's what got me into the MCU

Anonymous

Awesome! I know what I'm doing tonight

mranderson

Yay! Was not expecting this today, what a lovely surprise!

Jayson Phillips

Love your MCU reactions can't wait for more!

Joel S

I highly recommend you check out Agents of Shield, it has some tie in's with the other movies and is actually a pretty great show.

Anonymous

I’m so excited! I’ve been waiting for this!

Jay Beiler

Oh man, you missed one of the great little lines Stark dropped on Hawkeye during the battle, just as he gave him a lift up to the rooftop. You were talking about the enemy reinforcements and it slipped past you.

Danishprince

To answer one of your questions Nat: Loki was at the concert hall to steal the eyeball of a researcher that had access to Iridium, the material Erik Selvig needed to stabalize the portal :)

Darryl Low

Great fun video Nat. Thank you. Been a while since I'd seen this too, probably 2013. It was called Avengers Assemble here in the UK. I'm guessing the old 60s series The Avengers still has the copyright. You can always tell a Joss Whedon script a mile off, with all it's quips and fast paced dialogue. It was fun seeing all the characters interacting for the first time again, and a lot of fun watching your reactions as everything fell into place, and also you crushing on Steve, and ScarJo! :) I liked how you turned your lamp to Marvel Red this time, and it's good to see you looking so chipper again Nat.

BHillzebub

Iron man 3 comes before AoS in the timeline but yes I also highly recommend it.

Opti_Frog

Yup, written AND directed by Joss Whedon. This movie was considered to be a pretty big gamble, so i'm sure the heads at Marvel wanted someone who was good at writing and handling ensemble casts. Boy, did it pay off.

BJ Stephens

Honestly Nat, if you really liked Agent Coulson, then when you finish up with Firefly, you should give the Agents of Shield show a look. React to the pilot, and see if it's something you'd enjoy. IMO it's a really good, fun show!

Neil Silverman

Well that was a really fun way to spend a Sunday afternoon. I haven't watched this in years, and sitting down and watching it with you was great, Nat. Thank you.

Scott Greene

I've seen this movie so many times, I did not even need to watch the movie along with your reaction! Very glad you enjoyed it so much. Joss Whedon directed AND wrote "The Avengers", plus the second Avengers movie (which I guess you'll get to in February). He also wrote and directed "Serenity", the Firefly movie. I'm a big fan of his work. He created the "Buffy" and "Angel" TV series as well, and wrote many of their episodes.

Drew

"Tony's such an interesting character because he's still a kid" I have never heard someone descrube Tony so well in such a simple way. No one is "invincible" otherwise there would be no stakes. Hulk and Thor are the two hardest to kill on their own but again, no one is literally invincible.

Anonymous

Natalie now that you've become attached to Agent Coulson, you've got to watch Agents of Shield

MJ

"This was never going to work unless they had something to... to... AVENGE" Coulson ;-)

Anonymous

Now we have to get through Iron Man 3 (not a fan), then the hideousness that is Thor: The Dark World before we get to ONE of the best MCU movies, Captain America: The Winter Soldier!

Chris Lane- Venturi 3D

Disney/Universal Marvel stuff.....theme park geek here. So it's WAAAY more complex than Universal owning the rights. Short version: in the 90's, Universal was trying to make a DC Comics themed land for their new park opening soon, Islands of Adventure. That deal never happened, but Marvel, which had no popularity at the time sold the theme park rights for CHEAP and in perpetuity....but only "east of the mississippi river". They got the rights to a VAST majority of the rights and "family" of things like the Avengers. Disney can only build other things not exactly associated the same way, such as Guardians of the Galaxy which is going into Epcot. Disney can also build in California and they are/will be with a Spiderman ride and eventually another Avengers ride in the future...maybe. They also built an Iron Man simulator ride in Hong Kong and overlayed an old Buzz Lightyear ride into an Ant Man(where they actually foil a plot by....wait that's a spoiler, I can't say it!)

RebRox65

Couldn’t believe that a poll on YouTube put Ironman 3 down as a Christmas movie!!!

Baron

Watching the reaction now, It's kind of interesting that Nat does not comment on how this movie is story, written and directed by Joss Whedon. But so far she has not mentioned much about the directing or story or writing. I still have about an hour to go, so I am curious if she sees anything that makes her think of Firefly.

John

First off, I really love your reactions, but man you can be stressful to watch sometimes. You'll be commenting about set direction or stunt doubles while something important is happening and miss it. Also, Teraflops isn't a fake word. It means trillions of floating point operations per second. It's a measure of how fast a computer can do mathematical calculations.

Curaitis

Cant wait to see you watching the rest and seeing all those Story and Character Arcs coming together at the end.

Ron K

I'm sure someone else has already posted something about it, but Joss Whedon directed a great modern version of Much Ado About Nothing. Clark Gregg (Agent Coulson) along with some other Whedon alumni are in it. Can't remember how big their parts were but both Nathan Fillion (Mal) and Sean Maher (Simon) are in it too.

Anonymous

Ironman 3 and Thor 3 are really bad, I realize job security but we can skip those.

Matthew Periolat

What an absolute treat to get this in! And with the holidays coming too! There’s stuff to say and cards to hold. For now... everything is perfect. And there is so much more to come. And I will just smile and buckle up to enjoy the ride. So, you like Steve, Natalie, Hulk and Tony, Thor and Loki, huh? Cool. And seriously, they don’t sell kosher dogs from the carts in New York? Color me surprised! Stay cool and stay golden. This is so worth it. And such a joy to share, my friend.

Anonymous

Fun fact: Robert Downey Jr would hide snacks around the set which is why you could see Tony Stark snacking in the lab.

Anonymous

I highly recommend Agents of Shield, which takes place in the MCU and has some cool storylines that tie in with the movies. Also, Joss Whedon and his brother were the showrunners and directed many episodes.

Baron

Thank you for the great video. I thought you did a really great job with this movie. I enjoyed the fact that you say "oh wait I am not gonna comment on what I remember" then continued to do it in an extremely entertaining fashion. I kept waiting for you to remember something else because you were so definitive about "this is the one thing I remember" it is all very funny, your reactions get better with each video. Also I think you mistook the Chrysler building for the Empire State building. Also someone else in the comments pointed out that Iron Man 3 is technically a Christmas Movie, I mean if Die Hard and Gremlins are then so is Iron Man 3, Right?

David

+1 for Agents of Shield

Andrew T

Between this and Firefly ep.11, there's a "guys ending up naked" pattern going on.

Drew

Honestly I liked Iron man 3 a lot. Dark World is probably the worst Marvel movie but it gets more hate than it deserves. But yeah, the Captain America trilogy really does blow everything else out of the water.

Anonymous

Dude I am so jazzed that you are watching these films, it's a really great ride. Cheers!

Martin Heron

Eh, negative? Thor 3 is genuinely great, I get that Iron Man 3 is a strange energy but watching it post-GOTG when the MCU gets hella strange, it plays better.

Michael Labs

You asked about the big bad guy in the ending cut scene; I'm pretty sure the first time his name gets mentioned is in Guardians of the Galaxy...

MotoDork

A teraflop is a real term.

Anonymous

Fun fact: did you know Joss Whedon who directed this and Avengers 2 is the creator of Firefly?! I think the humor/suspense mix is his signature lol. Edit: I posted that in the middle of the movie I didn't see she made the connection during the credits LMAO

John

I love how matter-of-factly Rogers gives the ten bucks to Fury. Perfectly played.

JediLounger

Hey Nat. I am watching Avengers right now, having you along as The Seventh Avenger is like watching it again for the first time. Now that we are finished with Phase One, I wanted to add to what a few others have said, please, I am begging you, do not look at the cast lists for movies going forward. Several of the movies from Phase 2 and 3 will hit so hard and be an absolute wild ride if you can avoid spoilers if at all possible. I am thinking of one in particular, but in general I want you to be floored like I was during the majority of Phase 2 and 3. Please be vigilant, I promise you it will pan out, and your reactions will be absolute gold(pun intended). Edit: That security guard you liked that was helping Dr. Banner was Harry Dean Stanton from Alien fame. He died a few years ago.

Misty Crom

Been a while since watching this myself, so was fun to revisit. There was a deleted scene on the DVD with the waitress who is then seen at the bank, and also says about Steve (Played by the lovely Ashley Johnson), which makes her appearing so frequently at the end make more sense. I get why t was cut all the same though. I'd say watching Iron Man 3 maybe just after the Holidays, or squeeze it in during will be fitting.

Misty Crom

As a note, the deleted scenes are on Disney+ ( I figure that's where you watched it.)

Calculatus Eliminatus

#CoulsonLives was a big trending item in the weeks and months after this movie. Adding my voice to the Agents of Shield chorus. Just remember that Whedon's love to build characters and their stories before the main course starts.

Joel Palenychka

Funny bit about that last post credit scene in the shawarma shop: Robert's line about the Shawarma shop was completely ad-libbed, but they liked it so much they chose to film the end credit scene with them eating. They filmed it months after the movie had wrapped. The reason Captain America is resting his head on his hand the whole time is because Chris Evans was working on another film and had a beard. He couldn't shave the beard off so they had him cover it up.

Luis R.

Nat! Hey so if you read this I just want to say how great it’s been for me rewatching the marvel universe with you. My family, bless them, always dive into the things I love so they have watched all the movies with me as they come out even though it’s not their thing per say. This journey with you has been the closest I can get to relieving it again for the first time and I absolutely love hearing your thoughts on the movies and characters as you go along. So excited to see what you make of them rest of the films. Also was so awesome to hear what you had to say about Primate and Vkunia, I follow them and they are great. Love seeing this community back each other up. Let’s enjoy some holiday movies now but I will for sure be ready for the next marvel film!

Texas Anla'Shok

Lot of people didn't want Coulson to die. So many, in fact, that they gave him his own tv show.

Robert Avila

I was so looking forward to you watching the Avengers with you. Did not disappoint. Definitely one of my favorites. I've always loved, and most related to the Hulk, and his stuff was incredible (see what I did there). As always, looking forward to what comes next. Looking to have some fun for the holidays, and looking forward to a better 2021.

Bruce Bromley

The MCU is one big universe, you have ten years worth of films and two TV series if you want to absorb it all. I love the cameo that I think you missed. The security guard that finds Banner in the rubble of the warehouse was Harry Dean Stanton Known to you as Brett from "Alien" the guy that always said "Right". I happy that I finally joined your Patreon to see your full reactions. Can't wait to see what you have lined up for the holidays.

Thomas Malley

Is that show any good? I watched a few episodes and it felt very TV ish to me, in that low cost way it used to mean before TV started looking and feeling like movies.

Frankie H

I'm glad somebody finally pointed out Harry Dean Stanton's cameo. The guy was a legend.

Ken

Just the nature of watch along reactions that some stuff will be missed. I love it when Natalie puts on her filmmaker hat and talks about more than just the narrative. It's part of what first appealed to me about her videos. Production design, stuntwork, sound design, hair, makeup, and costumes are all parts of the movie

Aaron Lovik

The "Glowstick of Destiny" is responsible for a lot of your questions as it just shows up and is not really explained. You see it warp Selvig and Bartons minds to still be themselves, but their loyalty is with Loki and their behaviors are enhanced. Selvig is obsessed and Barton has no conscience while following orders. There are fan theories that suggest the Staff is also warping Loki. He's much more sadistic in this movie than usual and there is more of a blue glow to his eyes. Also, Hulks rage on the helecarrier was enhanced to make him attack friendlies.

Brandon Scott

Dude, the fact that he’s still alive is a HUGE spoiler for the pilot. SMH You should delete this.

Brandon Scott

Ok, so first I was so excited when I saw this pop up in my feed. I’m loving going through these movies with you. On that note, I’m hoping that you will decide to watch Agents of Shield along with the films going forward as they are directly linked and run parallel with the MCU (also, please beware of spoilers about that show on this thread). One interesting thing about that show that ISN’T a spoiler is that it was also created by Joss Whedon and his brother Jed. p. s. The hulk did have reason to be angry at both Natasha and Thor. He was angry at them even before he changed because it was they who pulled him out of his isolation and sat him in the middle of all that chaos. I heard you wondering why he wasn’t in as much control as he seemed to be in his movie. Something I think you missed (but it’s okay, most people do I think)l is the effect the scepter was having on the mental and emotional state of our hero’s. If you’ll remember when Loki was being walked passed Banner after he first arrived, Bruce furrowed his brow and rubbed his forehead. Easy enough to dismiss, but then if you’ll pay attention to the scene in which they’re all bickering and sniping at each other, right toward the end while Bruce is giving his little soliloquy, if you pay attention you’ll see Tony furrow his brow in the same way and then shake his head as he rubs his forehead. The center, maybe the gamma rays, was playing with their minds. That’s why they all seemed so over the top petty and irritable.

crawlie

Compare and contrast these two scenes: the Council of Elrond where the council start bickering and the ring starts chanting and the scene in this where the Avengers start arguing... and the camera loops around to show the scepter upside down.

Michael Cruse

Another hella fun reaction. This is one of my favorite movies, and I'm very glad you enjoyed it as well.

Erik Stevenson

Stellar reaction; re-watching this movie reminded me of how good it is. Are you planning on doing IM3 for Christmas (it's actually a Christmas movie) and would be super convenient timing wise. Hope your traveling and holidays go well, Nat!

Alan Kobb

Sorry, Nat, it's a real word! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FLOPS FLOPS - Floating-point operations per/second. A measurement of computer speed. Tera-FLOP - 10 to the 12th power FLOPS.

Troy B.

I don't know if anyone else has already told you about this, but they made a short vignette around the time of the Thor movie starring Agent Coulson called "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To Thor's Hammer." It's less than three minutes (plus two minutes of credits), but definitely worth a quick watch, if you enjoyed Coulson's wit and courage: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oAE0gbp0c5E

Anonymous

idk if its because of copyright stuffs but the movie is really blurry in the video and there's no sound...just wondering if it's intentional :)

Darren Withers

I’m not sure if you’re joking, but in case you aren’t, I can answer that. It is. The idea is you can sync up your own copy of the movie on your own screen to watch along. If she played the whole movie, she’d have to have permission and pay royalties. I actually kind of prefer her shortened videos for YouTube as it’s kind of a highlights, and more of a reviewing for me.

Randee Carreno

YES!!! This is one(of many)of the ones that I've been waiting for. I FINALLY found the time to watch it last night. I'm so glad that you enjoyed this one. 😊 I remember you wondering about the Black Widow stunt double. Scarlett Johansson's stunt double is stunt woman Heidi Moneymaker. And she was ScarJo's stunt double for all of her Marvel movies. Since you were so attached to Coulson, I highly recommend that you watch "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D" after your done with "Firefly". Loved the shout out in the beginning to Itsaprimate. I follow him as well. And he's another one of my faves. And I'm definitely going to check out Vkunia's channel, and give that a subscribe. 😊 Now that you're finished with Phase 1, we can get ready for Phase 2. "Iron Man 3", which would be a good time to do for Christmas since it is a Christmas movie, is a really good movie. Have a fun and safe Christmas holiday! 💛

LudicDave

Teraflop is not a fake word. It's how you historically measured super computers, and more recently also regular computers. For example the new Xbox is 12 teraflops.

Outlaw Wales

Regarding Coulson... I hear Tahiti is pretty nice...

Jack Mellor

Anyone else watching from the UK? For some reason even though I keep managing to sync Nat’s reaction with my copy of the film purchased on YouTube, the two always seem to de-synchronise. Is the UK cut of the film any different from the US cut, because I keep having to adjust where I’m at?

Frank Rosales

The cut is the same. I start it at the same time and real time watching for some reason little by little gets ahead of the reaction. I normally start mine a couple seconds early so reaction comments somewhat sync with what I'm watching.

1dvsbastrd

You should try uploading to dropbox. The picture quality on google drive is terrible

Anonymous

You know, after Firefly you could think about Agents of Shield as a Series :)

Aaron Taft

He is an amazing ng leader , everything I need to be.

Alan Kobb

Natalie - "A direct portal to New York City! Oh, no. This is bad." You wouldn't say that if you had to commute there from New Jersey daily! I remember seeing this movie and wanting to find out where I could sign up for a monthly pass on Dr. Selvig's interstate portal. ;) I'm with you with the street dogs, Nat, but they're a necessary evil if you've been pounding the pavement all day and need quick sustinence before getting on your train. Still, I much prefer a Kosher dog at Katz's Deli, Then again, there's always Shwarma...

Alan Kobb

Joss Whedon was selected mostly because he is best known for doing ensemble shows that include characters with different viewpoints fighting among themselves, but coming together to battle a common enemy. If you compare Firefly in this way, you can see Whedon's fingerprints all over it. Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel are basically written the same way. His writing is why the Avengers didn't just come together to save the day. Whedon made them battle each other, and forced them to learn to work together, which made the stakes even higher when the battle in New York started. Plus, even though Whedon wasn't as close to the rest of the MCU, the character battles that he built into The Avengers were kept in for the rest of the MCU. By the way, I'm sure it's been said before, but there is another Whedon production in the Marvel universe, Marvel's Agents of Shield. It brings back Coulson, recovering from his injuries in this movie, and a whole new slate of good and bad guys. Highly recommended if you want to take on another series. It's a lot, though. A total of over 100 episodes. Personally I think you'd enjoy it, but you'd also enjoy Agent Carter. It's only 2 seasons, but it's a period piece set after WWII with a strong female lead, and we know how you like that!

Paul Thomas-Humphreys

am I too late to watch this now? It’s giving me the too many users downloading message. I can’t watch or download :-( That’s sad

Doug Watson

Scarlett's stunt double is most likely Amy Johnson.

FatLittleButterfly

Hoping that you catch Agents of Shield in the near future! the final season is worth the journey

Daniel Vezina

Josh Weadon got the gig after and because of Serenity

Jack Burton

I know this was two years ago but Nat saying 'this feels like a lvl 10 idk what a lvl 7 means but i think it should be 10' cracks me up.
