Hey guys!

Here is my reaction to episode 7, JAYNESTOWN! This is a little bittersweet as it means we are officially past the halfway point for this series. Good thing we have a little movie called Serenity afterwards! This episode was a hoot and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

As always, please let me know your thoughts in the comment section below and until the next one, ✨stay golden! ✨

You’re gonna love Serenity! Your rewatch of the series has helped me rediscover the world, it was shitty it got cancelled in the first place. They’ve teased a second season so many times over the years.

Curious when you’re gonna get back to marvel, I’m excited for those reactions! I’m waiting till firefly is done to watch these

Great reaction (as always), Natalie! Not sure if it was just me but the audio and video seemed to be a bit out of sync, at least in the beginning. But I really appreciated your analysis of the episode too. It's a lot of fun to feel like we're getting to introduce someone to a fandom of ours that means so much to us. Keep it up!

Your adding a few more songs to this episode made for an entertaining rewatch. Waiting with great anticipation for your reaction to "Out Of Gas".

Can't wait for next episode, Out of Gas. It's my favorite.

It wasn't until I watched this episode again today that I saw the correlation between the mudders needing something to believe in (Jayne, the hero) and the Bible scene with River and the Shepherd. They both tie together well with River's line, "it doesn't make sense," and Jayne's final line, "don't make no sense." The Shepherd's explanation addresses this: "it's not about making sense, it's about believing in something, and letting that belief be real enough to change your life...it's about faith."

These episodes are the highlight of my day! Thanks so much!

Great video Nat as always. Thanks for 2 fun videos. Definitely an Irish accent, not scoatish. We had a variation on your mud song here in the UK that went - Mud, Mud, Glorious Mud. Nothing quite like it for cooling the blood. :)

About your comments on the show's cancellation, there's a reason Joss Whedon swore he'd neve work for Fox again.

The Gold girl can sing, how awesome. Agree with most the next episode is the one to watch. She is so going to "ugly cry". Keep Kodo nearby for emotional support little one. Luvin the videos so much!!

Uncle Dino

Oh guys check it out. https://m.imdb.com/name/nm8639077/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_3. I really wanna see Ms Goldberg act, any ideas on best place to find these movies, best one to start with?

Kevin Cleary

Great reaction! Can't wait until the next one, it is the best episode in the series, and arguably one of the best written on television.

John

I love the bit with Simon and Kaylee at the end. Yeah, he's a bit clueless but she really didn't understand how much he was just trying to show her respect. At least they both know the other likes them.

I love this episode. Not only is it hilarious but it also shows us a glimpse of Jayne's true personality. That he's not quite as much of a heartless money hungry dick as he puts on. While he does have that aspect of his personality, there is a part of him that is genuinely caring towards his friends. He just prefers to keep that part of his personality hidden. It does pop up in a couple of other episodes, and in the movie.

What you said at the end about this show defying your expectations is so true -- that was what initially hooked me in to this series. It was the scene at the end of "The Train Job" when Crow tells Mal that he will hunt him to the ends of the galaxy, and I thought "oh OK they are establishing a major recurring villain for the series," and then Mal just kicks him into the engine. I loved being surprised by that, because so many movies and shows are too predictable.

When Joss Whedon was talking to Adam Baldwin about the character (from what I've heard), he told Baldwin that, "Jane thinks he's the good guy, but he's really not" (or something like that) - But that is a good description of how he behaves.

Garren Haskell

I don't know if this episode or the next one, 'Out Of Gas' is my favorite. Or the one after that. Or the one before this. Or the first -through-fifth episodes. Or the ninth-through-fourteenth. This is a riddle that is impossible to solve. But Jaynestown is really high up there.

Yea Becky! Are we your day job until you get discovered? :)

Good stuff Nat

Adam McCabe

Love all of Nat’s singing in this - definitely made the episode

Aaron Lovik

And yet, he did. At least Dollhouse got a couple seasons before the axe. Fox screwed themselves by not sticking with Joss.

Hi fam! I'm loving this Firefly reaction series and I know I'll be bummed out when it ends far too soon (just like the show did). Any plans on watching another series after Firefly? I think Chuck would be a fun watchalong show.

nataliegold

Have a LONG list of shows haha, but we’ll see. May be tricky with Mandalorian S2 coming out!

I can't wait for 'Out of Gas' ! It's my absolute favorite. The episode that got me into the show.

Baron

Thank you this was such a great video, watched it twice, you are hilarious especially some of your reactions to stuff that happens. I won't spoil it with specifics, I found so many of your comments to be interesting and funny at the same time.

really enjoying watching these reactions - reminds me of introducing this show to friends and my wife. she had the same reaction to the crew as you did for the most part - the next episode, Out of Gas, happens to be my personal favorite and it is the one where she finally accepted the slightly dysfunctional family unit the crew is.

Todd Spencer

Out of gas is another personal favorite. I think you will like it, especially as much as you love to dive into the history of the characters. There are still some great episodes coming! I cant wait till the next one is done!

Rune

You skipped this weeks episode?

Todd Spencer

I'm sure she will get to it. It is a holiday weekend, so things might be a little crazy everywhere.

Im Aussie we dont really have summer camp, our parents just let us go into the bush from December to February. there are a surprising amount of homeless deep in the bush and they are much nicer than house folk.

AtomicAcorn

Your comment about "little surprises" that keep you invested is one of the reasons you should consider watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer if you haven't seen it already. It's Joss Whedon's best and most fleshed out fictional world imo.
