So glad you watched this one and enjoyed it Natalie. I know a few Naval Aviators and even with some inaccuracies Top Gun is still a classic even among them. My dad actually got to meet one of the Naval Aviators who few the F-14’s in this movie, his callsign was Scooter. The scene at the beginning where Maverick flips the bird to one of the MiG pilots, that was Scooter. He also was the one who buzzed the tower after Maverick and Goose get Jester. Even back then buzzing the tower was a possible career ender for pilots and not only did they get permission to do it for the movie but they had to do it eight times or something because they couldn’t get the right shot. Let’s just say he said they had a lot of fun with that. Glad you liked it again, looking forward to more of your reactions.

For sure. The sequel is so much better than the original, IMO. (In fairness, I've always thought the original is pretty overrated and has skated by for simply being "cool"... but I know I'm in the minority there.)

Here is a little insight - while stationed on a troop ship in Asia in the early 80s, we had the same incident happen were inbound aircrafts, from another country was heading for our battle group. We were working out (P.T.) on deck and when our aircraft carrier launched birds to intercept and they broadcast thru out our ship so we all could hear- our jets traveled by my ship doing supersonic, where you saw the jets pass by 1st and then heard the boom of the sound which shook the ship. Our guys forced the other aircrafts to leave our battle group area, which was about 150miles out.
