Hey guys, Judge Heath here, just letting you know that since we can't be actively monitoring the system today, don't be surprised if you sent in a request late last night or earlier this morning (Or later this afternoon) and you don't get a reply right away for your free 3 months of access. You will be gotten too, but today is especially hectic because we're trying to bring on a contracted freelance programmer and a fulltime programmer who will pickup the slack once the contractor is unable to work on the build. That means 100% of our efforts needs to go to back and forth negotiations, often across borders, talking with our lawyer about getting the contract made, and blocking out exactly in as much detail as possible what is necessary to count as 'completed' in the contract. One way or another, programming is starting back up, in Unity, today.

Former Breeding Season Patrons, I just ask you to be patient with us, our replies are going to be rather slow today as we deal with all of this. Thank you for understanding.

edit: Also, the reason you're hearing from me more than S-Purple is that he's basically working non-stop on art assets for the game right now, as well as organizing design documents, fielding questions for our writer, setting things up with our Animator, trying to get various news outlets to at least link his side of the story so that his reputation is not irrevocably poisoned by this whole event, and generally being "as busy as a one- armed carpenter in Smackaroo" to quote Terry Pratchett. Don't expect too much out of him until we get the release out.

Update: We've nearly reached an agreement with our first programmer. We have a letter of intent which will work as a legally binding stand in until the full contract can be completed, and we're all on the same page with priorities we think. All that's left is for everyone to sign it, and for work to begin.

Best of luck on your negotiations

This new game is being made in unity and not flash? Will that affect the animations and such? I don't know how diffrent those engines are from each other

take your time and good luck!

Great news! Though I am a former supporter of BS I prefer to monetarily contribute directly to this project to help kick everything in gear as soon as possible. Thanks for the free offer though, I hope that it helps a lot of other former BS patrons.

I'm a former supporter of BS, the lack of progress is what drove me from them months ago, only recently coming back in hopes of progress. I will be supporting this project and I hope to see great things.

After hearing the other side of the story, I'm personally not worried about any system for free access being set up. Granted, I was only a supporter of Breeding Season for 5 or 6 months so I missed most of the rollercoaster, so I may be in the minority there. Good luck getting things rolling as smoothly as possible in general, though!

Unity is equally able to handle 2d animation as Flash is, but the animations will likely be separate files, imported directly into the engine, rather than specifically modified skeletons within the game itself as you usually do with flash. This is not definitive though, as we are still working out the best balance between speed of making an animation, and our ability to make diverse animations.

PLEASE, take all the time you need with the contracts and actually HIRING people to work on this-I was so upset that the BS team went so long without anything really promising going on, but that you're getting so much accomplished so early speaks volumes; keep up the good work!

Appropriate priorities: check.

Also, Nghia Le Trong, while Unity is more powerful, it wasn't our chief reason for using it, so don't necessarily expect us to use all of the potential power it could give us. The biggest reasons (besides the fact it was the shared engine choice between our two contractors) had far more to do with the ease of accessibility in using it from anyone easily being able to download it and that it uses some of the most commonly known programming languages available. The massive community, built up of examples of code, and fantastic level of resources available for it also played into the choice. The additional power it gives is really just icing on the cake.

Update notice in the main post.

Swift progress on the reaching of the milestone is good to see.

Aron Marczylo

Great to hear about the progress, hope this game will launch with no issues as I look forward to seeing this.

Same here. I'd rather not see this run into trouble right away just because too many of us want it free.

If you guys are using Unity you might want to check out an animation suite called Spine by Esoteric Software. I've been using it myself for a while and find the power and workflow combined with solid support for Unity to really make it worth the investment. Good luck with the new project!
