Wowie zowie! After the untold tyranny of 15 years of New Super Mario Bros. games, Nintendo's flagship series returned with a bang in the form of Super Mario Bros. Wonder. This absolutely charming collection of 2D platforming ideas stunned the public last fall with its sheer abundance of variety, all executed to the standard of excellence we expect from a Mario game. But how did it all come together? And, most importantly, did we actually like it? On this episode, join Bob Mackey, Kevin Bunch, Stuart Gipp, and Henry Gilbert as the crew discusses the next evolution of the Super Mario series.

I probably need to play more, but this hasn't clicked with me. Likely it's because I haven't been playing around with badges, out of a misplaced notion that I'm somehow cheating. It'd probably be more fun with online people, too

I initially didn't like that they made the core cast play the same, but I ended up really loving the badge system. If you want Luigi to play like SMB2, they got a badge for that, etc. Honestly, this is the first Mario game since SMW that really grabbed me and gave that feeling that the classic ones did, and honestly I never thought it my 40s a game could do that again, but sure enough, Wonder had me feeling like a 10 year old playing SMB3 for the first time with how much creativity was jammed in there.
