It had to happen eventually, so during the holiday season of 1994, a cinematic Street Fighter adaptation found its way into theaters. And despite having a higher level of quality than the previous year's Super Mario Bros. movie, Street Fighter didn't receive a warm welcome from American audiences. But is this cheesy romp crafted by the king of '80s action movies actually better than its "so bad it's good" reputation? Quick clarification: Henry says the WWF Yokozuna was presented as being Japanese, but that's not true. Mr Fuji (a Hawaiian) was billed from Japan, but the Samoan Yokozuna was always billed from the Polynesian Islands.

I legitimately saw this in a dollar theater on the day it came out. I was 11, so I told my mom I would take her as a Christmas present, which was a wild reach, but I think it worked because she liked JCVD’s vibe
