Valve was on fire in the '00s, and along with innovative single-player FPSes like Half-Life 2 and Portal, the developer advanced the craft of multiplayer FPSes with the stellar Left 4 Dead series. Even though the zombie phenomenon of this decade was becoming a bit stale by its back half, the asymmetrical gameplay of Left 4 Dead gave players a unique, expertly crafted experience—as well as a series that still has a healthy player base more than 10 years later. On this episode, join Bob Mackey, PC Gamer's Wes Fenlon, and duckfeed.tv's Gary Butterfield as the crew discusses why Left 4 Dead is a series destined to stalk the earth long after its death.

Note: This episode was recorded weeks before Back 4 Blood's release got delayed to October 2021 and we take no responsibility.

Bill as the boomer would be perfect. You know when he's coming when he's wailing Lenore. You can even have special dlc where boomer bill is dress as Lenore.

This is one of my favorite Bob episodes. L4D came out of left field and growled and munched into our hearts. The speed with which L4D2 came out a year later had me thinking that this would be an annual franchise like Call of Duty and Assassin's Creed so it was disappointing that the series ended at numero dos. And that music.....always brings back the fear and dread that I experienced back in the day.
