This week's patron-exclusive episode is the first part of two—our look at strange and exotic controllers was so involved we ended up splitting the conversation into two shows (the second of which will show up... eventually). I'm a little buried in PAX panel prep at the moment, but I'll be posting a companion article soon to show off images of the controllers we covered this episode!

Also, editor Greg Leahy sent along the following notes on music selections this episode:

06:26: DDR Mario Mix - Step by Step

19:58: Celeste Farewell - wavedash.ppt

26:28: Ridge Racer Type 4 - Move Me

35:50: Mortal Kombat - Courtyard (Ad Break) PSO - Eternal Story

42:20: Descent II - Cold Reality

46:25: WWF No Mercy - Smackdown Shop

49:38: RE4 - Serenity

57:25: DQ VIII - Chatting

Closing: Ridge Racer Type 4 - Epilogue

Finally! Thanks to Shaan Khan for the cover illustration.

Just just started listening and Benj is talking about my pinball joystick! It works great on TG16 crush and every SNES pinball I’ve thrown at it. I was really surprised that these games never really used LR as flipper buttons. The most common layouts were always left on dpad and A.

As someone who follows LGR for his Oddware series on the youtubes, stuff like this is extremely my jam and the kind of content I like paying for. Can't wait for part 2! Anyway if y'all need me, I'll pour one out for the Sega Activator, the weird controller ambitious enough to be called the default control scheme in 32X Mortal Kombat II, and then immediately retired from the market due to its inability to function as a controller
