I've been going pretty deep and obscure with my episodes recently, so this week we're getting back to the basics with a detailed look at one of gaming's fundamental classics: Donkey Kong. And its sequels, I guess. (They're not as interesting.)

Given the classic appeal of this episode's topic, it only seemed fitting to pull together a classic Retronauts lineup. Besides myself and Bob, we also snagged Ray Barnholt and Chris Kohler. The result is, in my profoundly humble opinion, a great example of old-school Retronauts, like in the olden days. Except now we're all older and more mature and don't use as much rude language. Sure, we're covering familiar ground, but we do it with such pizzazz and sophistication.

Thank you for your continued support, and enjoy!

I still remember hearing rumors of this videogame called Donkey Kong when it first came out. I was too young to go across that street to the party store so I had to rely on the descriptions of 7th graders at my elementary school. For weeks I thought it was about donkeys and I dreamt up whole scenarios about what it could be like. Then I risked my parent's wrath and snuck over to the store on the way home from school. It was so different from anything I'd seen that I didn't know what to make of it. But I knew I was hooked.

You know I love that Orinoco Flow.

I'm surprised it took 17 minutes and 38 seconds until the first mention of Heiankyo Alien.

Is Pauline Lady? I thought they were the same person when I was younger, but Smash Brothers Ultimate lists them as separate characters.

I am 3 weeks late to this BUTT; I am so happy I stayed after the ending song. Thank you Jeremy for the sequel that no one wanted.
