As another year winds down, it's time to return once again to the Retronauts holiday cabin in Parts Unknown. And for 2017's celebration, we've dug up one of the few remaining video game cartoon Christmas specials left for our annual festive discussion: Donkey Kong Country's "The Kongo Bongo Festival of Lights." So, boil up a boozy batch of bog nog, cozy up by the fire, and listen in as Bob Mackey, Henry Gilbert, Chris Antista, and Matthew Jay explore the winter solstice customs of hideous CGI apes.

I completely forgot that Donkey Kong Country had a cartoon. I watched it on Fox just because it was a video game cartoon without knowing that it is bad. That being said, you did cover Legend of Chun-Li a few holiday specials ago. If you run out of game-themed holiday cartoons you could always cover video game movies.

I for one think Warcraft needs an episode so I don't have to watch it. (I walked out of the theater after 10 minutes.)

Relistened to the previous shows a few days ago, great job on this one. Thing i remember about the DKC show was the use of Squawks the Parrot, just the worst 3D model. It’s head swivelled in such a way that it’s head would clip through it’s body to talk. Looked so bizarre. As for more More of these... pretty sure that Pac Man show from a few years ago has a Christmas special. Guess you’ll have to get to that one day.

That was beautiful, haha. Definitely one of my favorite Retronauts episodes ever.

This was fantastic, perfect listen on Christmas Eve while making mince pies to avoid talking to my relatives. The true meaning of podcastmas. Thanks for the hard work Bob.

Wow that DKC cartoon was still airing in 1999? It was on all the time on Teletoon in Canada. DK saying "Banana Slama" every episode.
