So, writing recently, I've come out of the fugue state with some of the weirdest stuff.

It's Behold: Humanity! stuff, but more "Tales of the Terran Confederacy" stuff. Stuff like a participant's account of being in the Mar-gite War. A chapter of a tanker in the Mithril Nebula Conflict. A chapter or two of a xeno-species getting close to the Clownface Nebula and the entire ship's crew going crazy from the psychic 'stain' that extends out for light years.

Not sure why my brain is doing that.

I've also typed up a few chapter that I just stare at that show that humanity's been gone over 30K years, the Confederacy is more of a fragmented state, and a new species coalition is trying to become dominant. They have no idea that the reclusive member-species of the OId Aligned Systems Confederacy is a slumbering giant as their people move on to the next stage. Instead, they want to poke it as they make a bid to become the dominant coalition of the Cygnus-Orion Spur. Apparently, they're seeking an ultimate weapon supposedly created by The Builders.

Don't ask me, I just type this stuff up.

That's why something there's no chapter that day, because every time I go to type, I end up with weird stuff. If I try to do another chapter, I end up with the new stuff.

Stupid lightning bolt.

Stupid brain.

Since I'm 15+ years sober, I can't even go back to killing it with alcohol, like our original deal of "You keep me from feeling pain and illness, I'll kill you with booze!" that worked so well for so long.

But, I'm still working. We're going to wrap this up. We're going to have the payoff and the resolutions that so many stories nowadays just skip or don't bother with.

To me, one of the most powerful parts of the Lord of the Rings is the Scouring of the Shire, as well as the return home of the Warrows in the Warrow Trilogy.

Finally, I should be typing.

Funny thing is, all my brain says about Clownface is "What a shitshow..."

Anyway, I hope April is good for everyone. Winter's grasp is receding and April Showers Bring May Flowers.

I don't know who May Flowers is, but I hope she has candy, not pain and suffering.

Are you perhaps suggesting that after you have finished wrapping up Behold: Humanity! that there might be another series in the offing? Oh dear. Whatever shall we do. https://i.gifer.com/fzwK.mp4

Personally, I am glad to hear you are typing these up, and I hope to be able to enjoy them in some published form. like all commenters before me, these sound great. Some of your one off "standalone" chapters remind me so much of the golden age of sci fi short stories. My introduction to reading was a massive tome of a book called "road to science fiction" an omnibus collection of sci fi from James Gunn. many of your "one offs" stand shoulder to shoulder with these classics. I am glad for your fugue states, but only if they are not distressing or harmful. Let your muse be your guide, As far as I can tell it has not steered you wrong yet. https://www.amazon.com/Road-Science-Fiction-Heinlein-Here/dp/B0014C4C8E
