I can think of one way Ron Howard could make this adaptation interesting: he sets it in Mayberry and all its residents are Trump dead-enders now. One senses that the worst fate they can imagine is having the CEOs who used to kiss up to them look down on them once the patina and trappings of power are gone. It clearly affects the choices they make while they govern.
