To atone for antagonizing comedy legend Eric Idle on Twitter, Luke and Will have a good time revisiting MONTY PYTHON'S LIFE OF BRIAN (1979), the most overtly political film from Britain's most famous comedy troupe. They analyze the film's skeptical view of religious and political groups, and its thesis that "You don't need to follow anyone. You are all individuals." PLUS: What's the deal with all those "How To Argue With Your Trump-Supporting Uncle" articles that pop up every Thanksgiving?

Palin and Chapman... no idea.

One of my greatest personal annoyances with centrist libs is how willing they are to lend credibility to fascists and right-wingers. At a cookout this year, someone bragged to me about how open minded they are politically that they even read Milo cause they want to know his views, which is silly and a waste of time. It’s important to know what right wingers are thinking, but don’t act like their ideas are legitimate. It’s more important to figure out some reliable individual news or commentary outlets and work on constructing a coherent worldview. Reading Milo because you wanna treat him as an actual thinker and not a hack (or taking the Dave Rubin approach to unquestioned “ideas”) is exactly how bigotry gets laundered. Similar but different is when I hear boomers talk about how they get all sides by watching both CNN and Fox.

Haha good points. This is like saying you're an expert food critic because you have eaten steak au poivre and human shit. Or in the case of boomers watching cable news, because you've eaten human shit and dog shit. People could read actual books on political theory, political philosophy, etc if they want to actually have the robust understanding these centrists claim they want to have. But that would require actual work and wouldn't be as easy as reading a fascist who is functionally illiterate or watching TV.
