We discuss art, religion, and Grand Societal Narratives through THE MAGICIAN (1958), a film by Luke's favourite filmmaker, Ingmar Bergman (well, he's no Morgan Spurlock...). PLUS: anti- and anti-anti-theism on the left, the Canadian election, and more from our favourite YouTube vloggers.

I don’t know if you guys realize but I’ve been a Michael and Us fan since the jump lol. I heard that when it first came up, I just meant like an up to date analysis of the political situation in Britain. Like will our boy get in or will the machinations of the neoliberal elite continue to keep him out?

lol, I'd do an episode a week on this if we had enough time. The week after next I might be doing some UK politics pods, so hopefully that'll work as an intermediate solution till we can next do a Britain episode! - Luke

So in this pandemic I ran out of sounds and finally caved in to supporting this podcast. I’m a big fan of how spirituality mixes with politcal motivation and also just the idea of people dealing with God (which is why Bergman is great?). Growing up I found capatilism and God always together but when I started attending a traditional Catholic Church where they did mass in Latin and everyone was a professor or a military man, i was introduce to the idea that free markets are not morally superior and in fact the people should maintain the government in a way that help the most vulnerable. Though now a godless commie I still think of how religion helped in leading me to my politics and that it’s possible other will find themselves on the same path. It’s great to hear y’all talk about this and maybe do another soon?(Bergman of course)
