We dive into what the New York Times has called "the Intellectual Dark Web" by focusing on one of its leading lights: Dave Rubin. We enlist Michael Brooks (host of "The Michael Brooks Show" and contributor to "The Majority Report") to help contextualise Rubin in the continuum of online right-wing commentators, and to answer the question: "What exactly is Dave Rubin's appeal?" (Spoiler: we genuinely don't know.)

Andrew

I enjoyed hearing a more subdued version of Michael Brooks in this episode.

Kyle

I’m a newbie in this ecosystem of IDW personalities, and I’ve only in the last few years started to put concrete ideals behind what used to be a general dissatisfaction with what was going on in the US. “Michael and Us” has been a perfect gateway for me, because I love cinema - Will, I also have an affinity for endearing trash, my weakness is gialli. Your show, along with “Citations Needed” and “The Dig,” have helped me to build a vocabulary that I can use to express myself. Something in this episode that I really appreciated was when Luke took a step back to develop some background, specifically for listeners who weren’t familiar with the players being discussed. Thanks for that.

Michael and Us

Thanks for listening Kyle! Really great to hear you've been enjoying the show. And thanks for being a part of Michael and Us Nation. - Luke
