Growing up in Iran under the shadow of American imperialism, filmmaker Mehrnaz Saeed-Vafa felt an unlikely personal connection with American cinema - specifically, the films of Jerry Lewis. In her documentary JERRY AND ME (2012) she explores Lewis as a symbol of America and a universal archetype for outsiders... but also runs into the limits of Lewis as a person. PLUS: We consider the legacy of Morgan Spurlock.

Delightful episode but I did scare my dogs laughing at Michael Jackson and co road-trip. Amazing content. And you are correct: in Supersize Me, Spurlock makes much of his terrible liver values AFTER the McDonald’s diet, but his liver condition prior to it never even mentioned. It was only some years after that he disclosed that he was an alcoholic since he was 15. I mean even without it the documentary is fatphobic garbage, but yeah that bit was rich.
