Wooo, can’t wait to watch these later tonight! I can now finally say it- this was the batch of episodes I teased being very excited to see you watch back in season 3. This arc is absolutely wild- I still have vivid memories of this batch (unfortunately) leaking a few days early, and rushing out of my lecture to the campus library to watch them ASAP so I didn’t get spoiled. Such an exhilarating burst of new lore.

Steven's Dream- Loooove seeing Andy again! Now logically, I'm not exactly sure how far that plane's gonna get them towards Korea from the east coast of the US, but... ahahah, maybe he just flew them to the airport or something, idk XD Gosh, those huge, seeping tears Steven cries are really disturbing, visually. They did a really good job at emphasizing in the animation how completely against his control this crying is. Also eternally shook at Steven outright having a raised voice fight with the Gems, since outwardly vocalized anger (and especially at them) is such a rare mood to see him in. Seemed like the poor kid had a loooot of accumulated baggage and unspoken frustrations about them that sorta... just exploded out, in that moment. :( _ Adventures In Light Distortion- Haha!! Adventures! :DDD Fun! Goof times! Silly laughs! And now- oh shoot, Steven's sobbing. Well this episode hurts me. (In more than one way- you are most definitely not alone, it really hurts my eyes, too. I wish they didn't go for that weird sorta quasi-3D effect but without the glasses vibe with that scene, as much as I DO admit the disorientation of it pushes the emotion to the max.) So far, I think my biggest observation while re-watching these eps is that they've really been pushing Steven to his absolute extremes. Outwardly expressing more anger than he'd normally let himself feel, outwardly expressing his fear to the point of hoarse cries when he normally works hard to keep such vulnerability close to his chest. ("I just want my dad-!" breaks my goddamn heart. Kudos to Steven's VA for the very heart-wrenching voice crack on this line.) Poor kid, geeze. Always fascinating to see this show continue to unravel its characters, though. _ Gem Heist- Endlessly obsessed with the moment where Holly Blue Agate YELLS at the poor amethysts for yelling in the halls, and then doesn't like when they're talking low either. Wow lol. It's a moment that makes me laugh as a viewer bc she's just SUCH an asshole it's funny to me, but in that sort of way where I also just want to give those poor amethysts a hug. Get unionized lol, your boss mega sucks. It's also really jarring to see Pearl clash against the Homeworld customs for her kind of Gem- goes to show just how far she's already evolved beyond her origin. _

The Zoo- Greggo, Greggo... Coming in hot with a universe of heartbreak. Good for you, buddy. See, you may not have all your hair anymore, but you still got that rizz. I always laugh too hard when he gets absolutely walloped in the gut by his own son, though (DAMN he can throw a sick punch)- and for what? It doesn't even DO anything! XD I liked your musings on the ethical dilemma of "do they try and take the Zoomans back to Earth so they can be free despite the fact they would intensely struggle to acclimate, or do they just leave them here knowing they're happy and provided for in their ignorance of not knowing they're trapped?" It definitely is an interesting question to ponder on, because I don't think there's an easy answer. Not sure they'd want to go anywhere with Greg now, though- HAH! _ That Will Be All- I actually noticed a brand new silly detail I've never seen before during this watch! It's super small, only lasting for a few frames, but when the door to the Amethyst enclosure opens after Holly Blue is screaming at those poor Gems, you can see Pearl, Ruby, and Sapphire leaning in to the door with their hands to their heads as if they were trying to listen in. Then they snap riiiiight back to attention, ahah. Never noticed this before. I enjoy how this episode's song instantly provides depth to Blue and Yellow Diamond- characters who, otherwise, might easily just come across as entirely generic antagonist figures. They're still cold and oft cruel to the Gems under their service, but it's interesting to see how they have vulnerabilities, too- both mourning the loss of the diamond Rose shattered, but in diametrically opposed ways. Blue breaks outwards, wallowing in her grief... and Yellow seems to be breaking inwards, the lyrics of her song ("what's the use in feeling, Blue?"/"what's the use in feeling blue?") posing not only a clever double meaning, but also showing how she's coping by trying to NOT show emotion at all. A method which clearly fails her, as she's close to tears by the end of her song. I just really like how relatable this show continues to make its antagonistic characters- life is complicated, WAR is complicated, and as this episode so deftly shows, it's left gaping chasms on all sides of the conflict. _ Awesome batch, I had a lot of fun watching *you* have a lot of fun with these! Thank you once again for sharing with us.

One detail I really love about that last episode is how the diamond ships look! Yellow’s is a clenched fist, while Blue’s has a more- for a lack of better words- ~dainty~ looking gesture. Perfectly encapsulates their personalities ‏ᴗ̈

Aaaah! I hadn't noticed that. Made a comment about them being arms, but didn't really think to look much more than that. Neat catch!
