Hey Guys,

While I was programming our GPU server to render animations, I had this idea of rendering one scene in resolutions higher than 1080p that we're using in the game.

I want to know which of the attached images looks best on your computer, without slowing it down.

Based on these results, I want to make a habit of rendering preview scenes in a range of resolutions that add the most value to you.

1080p

1440p

4K

5000x4500

Well I use an android phone and the first 3 look the best. The last one is a bit awkward.

It really doesn't matter to those of us that do not have the monitor capable of showing above 2K, they all look the same. I picked what my monitor was capable of showing the highest resolution. My video card can go to 4K though.

I play on a 21x9 ultra wide monitor 3840x1600. For pictures I prefer maximum resolution so I can zoom in nicely if I feel like.

The 4k had a better native fit to the screen due to it's width. The 5000x4500 was nicer to zoom in with more detail on the actual character but you loose the width and so environment objects. So I lean more towards the 4k I think. hmm, looking closer at the 5000 I can zoom in soo much more on her face though with more detail. So I conclude it's a toss up, for gaming I say 4k but for still pictures then 5000.

I've a 4k monitor, but really from 1440 and up the details popped.

Thanks for the insights. I think I'll use 4K for preview renders in the future.
