2022 Plans (Patreon)

Hey everyone, happy 2022! We've been planning what we should be focusing on this year and we thought it would be best to give you all a quick rundown on the things we want to make happen this year.

First of all our websites could really use a refresh. The current design was built very quickly so that you had something to use instead of relying on us to share keys over DMs etc. We already have a design in mind and hopefully we will get this done early to mid this year.

We have already re-imagined how logins will work in the future which means you will still be able to login with Patreon, or you can tie your Patreon to a VRCDN account. We did this to give better data transparency on what we store about you, as well as to make it easier to request copies of the data we have on you as well as deletions. We hope to roll this out with the new website UI.

Over the last few months we've seen a surge in demand for our VOD service, this is something was wasn't expecting so we are now designing a more scalable solution to help keep up!

We want to also change how our Patreon tiers work. Over the last year we've had requests for higher bitrates, extra relay keys, extra forwarding slots, etc and we want to accommodate all of these requests as best we can. We don't have any info on what will change yet but we will let everyone know well in advance so no one is caught out.

Ofcourse there will be the continued optimization and tweaking of our core media server, this will be ongoing probably forever smile

One new addition we are rolling out today is our brand new Discord bot! Since all of the VRCDN team are EU based, no matter how bad our sleep schedules are we still are not available 24/7. This bot will be able to give basic assistance when we are unavailable. The bot is still very much in testing so please report any issues you experience with it!
