Hello!

Sometimes I get caught in a cycle of the same movies, books, activities, and whatever else. If you also suffer from this, I hope this small collection of recommendations can be of some help.

P.S. These are obviously just things I like and if you don’t like them too, then that’s absolutely a-okay ❤️

Movies/Series:

Renfield (2023):

Just a fun movie about leaving toxic relationships. The film follows Dracula’s familiar, Renfield, slowly, but surely trying to break-free from the terrible hold of his master. It’s funny, it has Nicolas Cage, it’s one of the few movies that’s made me audibly laugh in a while. Big thumbs up!

The Producers (2006):

Singing, scheming and making fun of Nazis! The Producers is a camp satire about people, money and taste, and more importantly it’s just a hugely fun time. I recommend you watch it with friends, but it’s also amazing as a solo experience. Dig in, bring snacks and get ready to have the gayest of times. Watch the movie - you’ll understand :)

Girl From Nowhere (2018):

A psychological and supernatural thriller all about a girl called Nanno. If you like fast paced horror, trippy situations and exploring the dark side of human nature - this could be one for you.

Queen Charlotte (2023):

Funny, camp and throughly binge-able, Queen Charlotte is the Prequel show to Bridgerton. Lots of British women being sassy, lots of men being farcical, lots of cool songs and history re-imaginings. Also, underneath all that, there’s a really beautiful story about loving people in the face of mental illness.

Music:

Talking to Yourself - Carly Rae Jepsen

Little Girl Gone - CHINCHILLA

Energy - Tyla Jane

Mourning - Post Malone

I Think We’re Alone Now - Tiffany

Happier Than Ever - Kelly Clarkson

Honey - Halsey

The Power of Love - Celine Dion

Activities:

Keep a Food Diary:

If you have a bad relationship with food and you’d like to improve it, keeping a food diary can be a great idea. Whether you binge, deprive, flip-flop or even simply forget to eat, keeping a small diary on your phone can help you be more conscious about what you’re eating. As some who has been underweight, overweight, up and down, every which way, this has been a big help to me. No more bingeing, no more depriving, just slow, boring consistency :)

Get a Bold New Haircut:

I got a wolf-cut, dyed my hair black and I gotta say, I might just be living in my cigarette mom era (minus the smoking and kids). I feel light, I feel liberated and I am free from tension headaches via scrunchies and hair ties. Small changes that are in our sphere of control, make us feel alive and present. Do it however you like, just do things that remind you you’re here for you :)

Little Acts of Bravery:

I made a new friend last month and it made me really happy. I was scared, I didn’t wanna be needy or desperate in her eyes, so I started small, but sincerely. And I asked if she wanted to get a drink and she said yes. It was really nice. Try to do the things you’re scared of, even if it doesn’t work out, you did something, you took a shot. You did a thing and that’s a lot better than letting fear win.

Regarding food diary: i recently discovered the App lifesum and im In love with it. It find almost everything i Scan into it and has a good amount of foods and ingredients you can manually add. You can buy the Pro Version for it to display macro statistics for the food but it works just fine as a free Version. (This is not a paid review)

Phoenix Brave Hideki

As always great recommendations Tea! I totally agree with the Renfield movie that movie was a riot and your new hair cut sounds great.

All very good ideas but I am curious about the choice for The Producer's 2006 version and not the 1967 version. Also any movie produced by Mel Brooks is a fun time.

I'd like to second the motion, The Producer's (1967) is just as, if not better =)

Love reading these on a nice morning with some tea or coffee.

I don't think I could willingly watch the remake if I had to choose between the two. I like Nathan Lane and can see him as Zero Mostels Max but with Matthew Broderick as Gene Wilders Leo I cant do it.

Always love reading these recommendations, it always has the vibe of a friend giving a little personal wellness check to keep your life fresh and positive, thanks Tea!

I've been meaning to get a hair cut in the past couple of months. For the first time in my life, I started growing my hair long in 2020 and haven't cut it since. For the first time in my life I actually love my hair, so I'm reluctant to cut it, but I want to at least get the ends trimmed.
