The pressure to lose your virginity is such bullshit and it especially effects men's mental health. So, let's change the fucking narrative. 

I once had a guy I used to work with tell co-workers (after I left the work place, I might add) that I slept with him, and it really just puzzled me. The friend who told me about it (and still worked there) asked if I wanted her to correct him in front of everyone. I gave it some thought, but ultimately I decided he already knew the truth and so did I. And really, it just made me feel sorry for him. I didn't need to prove anything to anyone, but he clearly felt he did. And really it just made me think this guy's gotta be in a shitty place if he's really pretending that sleeping with me is something to brag about. 

Don't get me wrong I really disliked him for it afterward, but honestly it just reeked of sadness and I felt like "well, he's clearly already in pain. He doesn't need me to humiliate him. He knows this is pathetic."

So, guys, let's not be dicks to each other. Let's not make putting your penis into a vagina a big fucking deal. Because it really, truly isn't. Also, let's not lie about sleeping with people we haven't slept with. It's unnecessary and you might end up hurting someone simply to feel some spec of imaginary self-worth. Real self-worth comes from doing good things, working hard and being with the people you love, not sticking your dick in a lady.

I honestly don’t see any purpose in lying about sleeping with anybody. All it causes is trouble and issues. I tend to try to be careful with who I mess with. The law automatically believes any claim a woman makes and will come down hard on you and tear your world apart trying to prove her right. I’ve seen it before. While I do have some wild con tails I do wish I would have been more selective with my partners. Sex is nice but not worth the mental damage the wrong partner can inflict. But always be truthful, it's the best way to go.

I think the mentality behind this sort of thing lies behind the desire to not want to feel inferior to your peers. Many people may want to think what I'm about to quote as "misogynistic" or something.. but it goes "A key that opens many locks is a Master key, a lock that opens with any key is useless" same thing kinda goes both ways. A key that can't open any locks is useless, and a lock that won't open for any key is also useless. You're absolutely right when you say it really isn't a big deal, but human beings by nature are generally insecure, so people will lie about things they've never done for no other reason than just to pretend to be cool. That's just my opinion though..
