Unfortunately, we've discovered that my beautiful German Shepherd, Mina, has hip dysplasia.
We've been to the vet, she's booked in for X-rays and it seems like her back left leg is much weaker compared to her other legs.
Whilst she has never been upset or aggressive with me touching her limping leg, today she was extremely stressed and wary of the vet, so much so that I insisted we put a muzzle on her in case things came to ahead. She has never snapped at or bitten anyone, but I didn't want to put that responsibility on her when she's clearly in pain and scared.
The vet said that dogs with good temperaments often hide their discomfort from their owners, as they're a trusted pack member and they want to play and be petted. But it's entirely different when it comes to strangers.
Mina is booked in for a full day of tests next Friday and we're taking it from there. The good news is that because of you guys I am able to pay for all her tests and possible surgeries. Vet bills are very expensive and I just want to say that no matter what happens, I feel so lucky to be able to get Mina medical attention and care.
Thank you for everything.
Mina is resting, eating normally, interested in play and overall still a very happy girl. Thank you for giving her every chance of leading a full and happy life.
