Heya all. Well, since I fell so behind on rendering, I decided that I am going to use a render farm to catch up a bit. I am putting at least $500 toward rendering. I feel bad that the final rendering is taking so long and I want to do whatever I can to help speed things up.

Anyway, with some luck, I will have a LOT of rendering done by the end of the weekend =) I will post some updates over the weekend and most likely a new preview or two as well.

EDIT: Also hanging out on discord today while I get a scene setup for rendering on the render farm.

That's a lot of money man. Save yourself such an expense like, 4 times, and you can buy another computer you can work on while the others render... We wait like, a month between vids, if a backer cant wait an extra 3-4 days, I think he'll cancel sooner or later on some other pretext anyway.

heya Danel... You're totally right. And... I will buy another computer in the next month or two. I want to get a specialized machine just for rendering even better than the one I recently bought. But its just crazy how long these renders are taking right now. By using the render farm, I am going to save 12 DAYS worth of rendering. And I just feel really guilty about messing it up in the first place and I dont want my Patreons to suffer because of something I messed up on.

Hmmm, well, I'd still rather get better future results than take an immediate shortcut, but it could be that I'm not in the majority... Maybe next time you can do a poll? Worst case, you do what you did anyway, and in the best case, you save that money and put it to better use.

AgentRedGirl

Yeah you are making a lot of sense. I will do a poll for sure if I am ever in this situation again though

Monkitar

Yeah, I agree, save the $500 and put it towards another render PC, 12 days isn't that long lol, your work is worth the wait in my opinion

Caman

Red on balance you provide much more content, interaction with your patrons, updates, pin ups, and previews than any of the other creators I follow. Not only is your work unique, but it is high quality. Don't sweat the small stuff. Your patrons just keep growing.

The render farm is your decision but I agree with everyone else here as I think you're being too hard on yourself. I've been with you from the very beginning and like Caman says above nobody else even comes close to you in terms of content and interaction so you have absolutely no reason whatsoever to feel guilty. Plus 12 days isn't that long so the $500 would probably be better spent on another rendering rig, and with the new rendering settings you figured out wouldn't it be less than 12 days?
