Just watching this now, because I so enjoy your reactions. I have watched Iland a few times and I pick up new things each time. I think your comments are wonderful and often spot on and so insightful, in a way that only you with your background can provide. So thank you. One thing that I am curious about is that you keep saying that Jungwon is the center of Enhypen but, as you will see in Enhypen & Hi, Heeseung is the center according to the members of Enhypen. Just curious where you heard that?

Beth LaRue

Maybe you meant Leader and not center. Leader was between Jungwon and Heeseung but Heeseung said that since he is oldest that he should not also be leader. Last, whenever I watch this episode, I always think that it would have been more fair if both groups had been required to do a happy, cute/refreshing concept since they will be required to be able to do that once they debut.

Maybe its becuz hanbin was my fav but I found his elimination lil unfair cuz he is a good dancer, stable live vocals. And considering the fact that Bang PD said to consider the potential and previous performances in making the decision of elimination. Anyways Hanbin also had a solo performance in HYBE new year event before he left HYBE and has a twitter acc with 600k+ followers. And hanbin is rumored to debut in a group with Ahn Hyeongsub (produce 101) later this year if not next year.

AH

I think my biggest issue this episode was the blatantly unfair treatment of Hanbin. His skills and stage presence may not have been on par with the others, and I'm okay with the elimination. but as both a musician and an assistant audio technician, it's pretty obvious that they didn't suppress his voice or use pitch-correctors on it at all like they did with the rest of his group. it's pretty obvious that Daniel, for example, was either lip syncing to the backing track or they edited it over his live vocals. There's nothing wrong with this and it's standard for every live stage performance basically ever, but it's just another instance of M-Net's less than stellar and extremely manipulative editing.

yes! i thought heeseung’s facial expressions weren’t bad at all & i really enjoyed the performance from chamber 5 bc it was rlly enjoyable & made you want to sing along. im no pro so obviously i didnt want to say too much about it but i thought heeseung did good & when i first saw the episode i couldn’t understand why they said that. i rlly respected him as well bc he wanted to do chamber 5 bc it was something he hadn’t tried before & he wanted to challenge himself which is so respectable & a good thing from him as an idol. at some point or another every idol does some sort of refreshing concept so he rlly wanted to show his range & i think he pulled it off! also yes its like with my little sister i want to pinch jungwon’s cheeks and poke his dimples lmao he’s just so cute but still has that characteristic about him that is so cool & dope which is why he’s my bias!

First, my thoughts on K and the “evil editing”. I actually don’t think he was evil edited at all. I actually think they did him a favor by showing flaws but then showing growth. It makes him a more likable person. It’s the people who don’t learn from their mistakes that you don’t like generally in life. If you look at the comments under some of the episodes on YT they are generally very favorable towards K after last week and this week because of his genuine contrition and subsequent growth. I believe it has something to do with completely unrelated to I-Land stuff that happened. Also, the results play out a wee bit different than you think, but we’ll let you figure that out next week 🙂. Second, Hanbin is such a sweet soul. He was in the Ground most of the time and never got a ton of air play, but when there was it was always just joy and compassion and goodness towards mankind. I don’t think he was ready for this group, but I am rooting for him in life. Third, Chamber 5 basically IS Enhypen, but we would sure miss NiKi and Jay 😁. Don’t worry though, you can check out Enhypen, including NiKi and Jay doing Chamber 5 Halloween fruit version on YT if you haven’t already. Fourth, Jungwon is not considered the center. They say they have no positions other than leader. That being said, both when they were formed and just a couple weeks ago they gave Heeseung the nickname “overall center” of something similar. So very loosely it’s Heeseung and very loosely they say NiKi is the dance leader, but they also emphasize that they have no set positions or roles at this time other than the actual group leader which was not determined by these outcomes. Fifth, speaking of nicknames. When you were taking about how Jake could be the actor on KDrama that transforms from the shy guy to the cool kid, I immediately thought about the new nickname the group just gave Jake a few weeks ago which is “Performance Genius” or “Stage Genius”. The group clearly thinks highly of his chameleon abilities on stage and his growth 😂. And finally last (I know, I know. I had a lot of thought this episode. Kudos to anyone still reading 🤣). I CAN’T WAIT FOR THIER COMEBACK!!!! And I’m so happy we get to have a review with you so soon after! Thanks for all your amazing hard work!

Melissa O

I agree. And he did still get scores in the 80s, which are still high and would have thrilled them all just a few weeks earlier. I too thought he did really good though and found no fault with his facial expressions. Drew me in!

Omg thank you it was so helpful for me to read all the information u gave us . I’m knowing them through Jeff’s reactions and I think I’m falling for them 💜💜💜

ChanChan

Yay excited for you to get into more enhypen!

jeffavenue

ohhh yes i read an article this morning about that potential debut! good for him! he’s definitely very popular as we’ve seen a lot of fans voting for him so he’ll be fine no doubt!

jeffavenue

ya i can definitely see this happening. cause it really didn’t blend with the others- that’s why i mentioned maybe it was the mixing and if you as an audio tech can confirm that then i’ll have to agree it was very unfair of them.

jeffavenue

honestly i wasn’t so sure about them when they first debuted - i knew they were talented i just didn’t know how much i wanted to get involved. but drunk dazed and fever were soooo strong that it was just hard to ignore.

the first 6 members are determined by global votes, the final member is the producers choice between the 3 participants that are left. voting started the second episode 11 ended and you could only vote for 1 person a day. during the live show of the final episode everyone was allowed to vote once more for 1 person. both BTS and TXT are there and it's gonna be long as hell cause you can already imagine how long they're gonna take before announcing who stays so be prepared lmao. on another note and unrelated to enhypen, but i would love for you to react to the going seventeen series if you aren't already watching it on your own! no pressure but if you wanted seventeen content i would highly suggest "going seventeen", a new episode comes out every week on youtube and they're funny as hell.

Didi

Jay really is a softy 😊 Be prepared to be annoyed at the end of the finale, because it will take a while to announce every single debut member, it was sooooooo long.

Jenn BL

It was so heartbreaking for me because K did so well I thought there was no chance he would not make it…he was it for me since first episode…hoping his debut comes soon❤️

Please do a reaction to hanbin’s NYE solo performance! He has improved so much since I-land!

valid_val

After you finish I-land would you consider reacting to some performances (maybe one from their debut and another from their first comeback) so you can give us your opinion on what you think they've improved on and what is still similar to when they did the show? I'd really love to watch that as a closing chapter for all the I-land journey!!

valid_val

btw even if someone places 1st in the finale that ranking doesn´t really play any kind of role once they come together as enhypen, therefore when someone is "center" is purely because they fit that position and that concept not cause of the results here on I-land ;)

jennielvr_

is skz’s kingdom week coming out today? just asking as the timetable said 6am :)

I feel Jay got a bit shamed for pointing out the stuff Niki could imorove on. Seeing stuff, recognizing how it can be improved and packaging it in a way that is constructive and not offensive to the one being corrected is a real skill that needs to be practiced. It's not something that just falls into someones lap and it should be valued. Being harsh might and brutally honest might work for some people, but it's not a great overall feedback strategy. That's the reason not everyone is a great teacher.

Personally I felt this challenge wasn't a very fair challenge and what you said was kind of the reason why. Not all idols can really pull off a super upbeat, cutesy concept without looking awkward or like they feel embarrassed. It's a real skill. Most debuted Kpop idols can absolutely pull of sexy or intense because it's somewhat more natural and easy to do. So I would have liked the flame on team to do a sorrowful ballad type or a "home run" style song so it really challenged all of them to do more than just smolder. That's why I really felt Chamber 5 won in my books. They had to pull of being cute and honestly some idols look so uncomfortable still while trying to do that. It takes me out of it as a fan. This episode is where I really started to appreciate Sunghoon too because he came in so much later and had to do a much harder concept and to this day he still is really talented at pulling off the cute/bright concept without looking awkward, like Sunoo. I'm excited to see your reactions to Enhypen and Hi and their upcoming album!

LoLo

Ahhhh Hanbin's elimination always gets me the most, he was always one of my faves. Anxiously awaiting for him to debut... hopefully soon! (fingers crossed) I don't know if you're aware but he's with Yuehua Entertainment now, which he signed with back in June.

jeff i'm vv curious as to who you would vote if ever you watched i-land real time hehe. i reaaally enjoy watching your reactions and it feels nice to rewatch i-land with youuu! 😊
