First of the month! Thank you so much for resubscribing to my Patreon! September was busy AF and it doesn't seem like it's gonna slow down for the rest of the year haha.

PS. The subs were unexpectedly lower than I thought so it's A LITTLE cropped at the bottom. Like if there's a 'y' - it'll look like 'v' since the tail is cut off. Sorry about that! I will keep it in mind for the next episode!

EDIT: Seems like the app still isn't fixed. Please watch on your browser :)

Holy cow, I'm glad you watch this. I just finished ep5 today and have nowhere to talk about this with. I love all this girls and so happy that this show makes them exposed to the public.

Doyoungismyult

YAAS! I am so excited to watch this again! It is so much fun. I also hope in the future to see reactions to LOUD because I still think you would love it. This show is amazing too though and already has so many iconic dances.

Joanne Elizabeth

yessss so excited for this , thank you Jeff x

Natalia Kuroś

I haven't watched this series yet. I was waiting to do it here 😁

AleksBh

Fyi, this show is real hit in S.Korea and many idol groups kinda made some parody from this show already, lmao

Anonymous

I love watching the shows “with you” rather than by myself! I just finished RTK and Kingdom and all your other reactions that went with them and it was so much fun. I don’t mind waiting for you and what you end up wanting to watch! Thank you for your honest opinions and it is like watching with a friend. (I don’t have anyone IRL besides my mom who likes anything Korean and she only like KDrama🙁). K-wave person here since 2007. 👋

I honestly wouldn't have picked Taeyong as a Judge. I can understand BoA as a Judge because she has over 20 Years as a Performer under her Belt but having 2 Idols without Battle experience wouldn't be my Choice. Daniel is such a great Host and I couldn't imagine anyone else that would bring this much fun on the show but he would have been a great Choice as a Judge because he is a Dancer first, he even teaches bboying in his Live's ec. If we are talking Idols I might have also picked someone like Rocky from Astro, Kai, Taemin ec - People that are more into *contemporary" jazz, ballet. If we are talking NCT I would have picked Ten because he knows so many different dance forms. I love Taeyong but his Freestyles aren't Competition Pieces for the most Part.

jeffavenue

i totally get it! i only have my little sister to really talk kpop on the regular (i have other friends that listen to them but not like reality/variety shows deep). glad i’m able to share these with someone who’s been into kpop for this long!

Anonymous

i also feel like they should have aspired to make the judge panel as diverse as possible

Anonymous

I was waiting for this! Cant wait for your reaction in the next episode.. 😊

vega

Woahhh I'm so happy you're watching this :) For there personality and if korean audiance is ok with that actually idols are different than the majority of koreans they are not as conservative I think. When you watch show me the money which is watch by a lot of people of different categories it's worse than that. I think at one point you said that waacking and voguing are not really made for battle but I think it's the opposite because the base of waacking and voguing is doing balls where you battle in different categories. For the judges and chaeryeong in the battle I have mixed feeling because I don't think they choose to be here and Mnet as a contract with SM I think (all juges are from there) but at the same time they have so much place to become well known they should at least leave this show to dancers who are never highlighted. :)

Maryam

Ooh! I didn't realize this would be so long, but I should have expected it. Let's do this!

Missy

Btw Jeff, Monika is basically Lia Kim’s teacher. That’s why Lia Kim didn’t join the show. Monika is like the biggest senior of all. They should have had Monika as the judge, but she said she participated to help the younger dancers to get recognized. Since covid affected the dance community a lot, many dancers loose their job, cannot continue dancing because they cant make any money, shows were cancelled, classes were stopped, and not like all of them are famous enough to get the choreographer job.

Anonymous

Aiki had better control with the salsa because one of her expertise is in Latin dance. I also don’t think Aiki was trying to copy Gabee during the battle, it was the perfect song for her.

Kaszy Notte

loveee this reaction & glad that you're finally doing it! I was waiting for this so yayy you should watch street dance of china Jeff! there's lots of amazinggg waacking and vogueing dancers/battlers in that showw especially in the newest season

jeffavenue

oh shit. ya she’s amazing 🤩 can’t wait to see more of her. didn’t know she was basically lia kim’s teacher. damn.

Missy

I love that show, the camera works are also better than this show because they don’t put so many reactions in, then we can enjoy the dance flow better

elise

To respond to your question about Chaeyeon 's company, she is at WM ENT, Same agency as ONF, OH MY GIRLS and B1A4

Jade

is I land coming out today?

Madrih

hey jeff, mind sharing where you found a such high quality stream :(?

Iris Lee

im so so glad u react to this! this show is really BIG in korea now, it really blew up. i'm so excited cuz u know, Leejung choreographed Lisa's lalisa, itzy's wannabe mafia and icy and much more, lachica girls choreographed almost every chungha's songs and more, and others all participated in kpop groups as a backup dancer or teacher of them, so i'm so glad u decided to watch these ppl! as u mentioned, the evil editing is really much but this time most viewers aren't really affected by it, cuz the personal relationship between the dancers are spreading fast :) for instance, Holybang's honey j was a teacher of Noze's highschool, so they were teacher-student before. YGX's Yeojin (which mnet evil-edited her question to Noze) is actually really close friend to Noze. YGX's Leejung once worked as a teacher at Prowdmon LipJ & Monica's academy, and they call each other 'mama' and 'baby'...lol Want's Moana worked several times with LaChica's girls, when they make dance videos. Noze also worked as a teacher at Coca&Butter RiHey's academy. and much more, etc...so basically, in this small dancing community, most of them all know each other very well :) oh and as u mentioned glass floor, actually YGX's yell did mentioned it was really hard to dance there cuz she was worried she'd slip, so she couldn't really do some moves :( and fun fact, coca n butter is actually cocaine butter but since korea needs to sensor this, they changed it lol sorry for too much tmi, im just so so excited for this!

Yess!!! I was waiting to watch with you!! Thanks Jeff! Also, seeing Taeyong as judge makes me soo happy and emotional

I really like watching these shows with you instead of just watching them alone because its always interesting to hear your thoughts and insight. A lot of people mix up Voguing and Whacking that's okay, especially because your dance background is a completely different one. A little bit of information on all these different styles: Whacking, Locking, Popping and Voguing are either Club or Street Dances which means they are social dances and meant to be danced in a group as well especially Whacking and Locking. I also noticed that you often use Locking and Popping in combination but these are very different styles, so not every Popper is good in Locking and vice versa but of course they can be mixed. And all these styles are very dominant in the battle scene and can be used beyond limitation if the dancer is good at free styling. I look forward to watch your next reactions :)

Glorisss

Came back to your patreon for THIS!!! Also you can see the full, no camera switch, no replay version of these dance battles on MNet’s youtube! Watch it in your free time if you’re curious!

I think you can just differentiate them by using the terms "professional dancers" and "idols"? I'm sure we'd get what you mean!

eve_ss

Regarding the choice of judges, for me as long as the crew members themselves acknowledge them and doesn't have any problems with it then that's it (And I don't see anyone of the girls complaining about it). Personally, I feel that whatever opinion we have on this it really doesn't matter because it's them girls who knew better than us on who's deserving or not to be judging them. Also, I believe the sole purpose of this show is not really to find the BEST crew out of them it's more so to give them a stage to be known/ recognize by the general public. The opportunity to be able to showcase their talent and give a kind of insight on how their industry works. and I think this show is succeeding on that because tbh tho I could see some familiar faces here I don't really give much attention to them before but right now I got to appreciate them more. I even have my own BIAS! HAHA I love them all. Just to share also, this is my FIRST TIME watching the whole episode of SWF (I only watch clips before). I really waited for this reaction so I could watch it with you! ☺️

jeffavenue

thanks for the info on the dancers! glad korea embraced this cause the damn community is definitely more progressive hehe. ya it’ll be hard for yell to do some floor work and handstands cause that glass floor has no grip lol @ coco n butter’s real group name. wish they kept me it 😂😂

jeffavenue

yes thank u for clarifying some of those genres cause i am familiar with the actual styles and how they’re executed but not so much the terms that’s why i keep mixing them up lol.

jeffavenue

ahhh of course they do i should’ve known lol and thanks for coming back 😁

jeffavenue

that’s true- it’s kinda like kingdom in away where they probably just wanted to play and showcase their art 👍🏽

Sara Espinosa Amorós

It’s Taeyong first time as a judge, and I think we shouldn’t be so harsh on him. Everyone has their first times, and it’s okay to have different opinions and to think maybe someone isn’t as “qualified” to be a judge than others. But I think, apart from being a strategic marketing from MNET, Taeyong has a lot of good input and good criticism, I have watched episode 6 at this point and Taeyong has really good opinions and he takes this very seriously. BoA, who has 21 years of stages under her belt, takes Taeyong’s opinion and she loves him, that means something too. Also, Taeyong is a choreographer as well as an idol and a leader. He is a performer, he is a dancer, and he might not be experienced in underground battles, but he has trained from teachers that are experienced in that, and he understands. I just wanted to say this for people, to understand that let Taeyong do his job, it’s his first time as a judge, you might not agree with some of the stuff he says, but doesn’t mean his input is bad. Also, he gets better and better as the episodes progresses.

mina

fun fact Lee Jung from YGX was in Just Jerk Crew when they went on America's Got Talent which got the crew world recognition during that timev( now everyone knows Just Jerk) . In 2018 they even performed at the Pyongchang Olympics opening ceremony!

I always enjoy watching your reaction and I really agree with you, it's really in the same thing that I think as well especially about the idol dancer and Dancer because their job is difference way. Even you can tell idol is also good dancer because they have to dance too. But the thing is about the progress what they do or how they think and their experience in there Not the same. Almost idol work is just perform sing and dance together for suitable with their song, they still have dancer or choreographer to teach and learn from in every way because it is how their job work. But in dancer is all about choreo and focus only the way to dance and Skill, they will be have a strong point on dance in the battle. But the judges are idol too even though Boa has a lot of experience so you can tell how mnet work, just for entertaining bacause we know all dancer teams are really Great. However, I also love taeyong so just watch the show for fun.

Rina

I've seen a lot of clips from this show but didn't think about watching it until I saw that you reacted to it. Now I really want to binge all the episodes!!

Kate

I was busy celebrating my bday and didn't see this. Now the video does not exist 😭

Anonymous

@1:53:52 Wrong translation. Taeyong said "DJ" picked the great song but the translation said "she" picked the great song. So in other words, you are correct. they don't pick their own songs :)

Anonymous

fun facts: Hyojin Choi from Want (the leader) is also from Hit the stage. She was Hoya's partner for this stage: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z85PpnhTcWs 4/6 dancers from Taemin's Advice are in this show: Noze (WayB), Rozalin (Want), Simeez & Lian (LaChica). Simeez and Lian were in criminal and Idea as well.

in Korea, people understand that the vibe/attitudes in Dance or Hip Hop, Rap world could be very different from what they normally see or what they see from the idol world. So even though the attitude or comments from the dancers are somewhat very different or somewhat strong, people kind of understand what it is in these types of shows.

Missy

you can watch it on browser, the app hasn't been fixed yet :(

S H

I didn't watch this yet but happy to watch along with you XD. And lol the evil editing...

Anonymous

I think you would really enjoy Street Dance of China, the dancers skills and variety is amazing there too. And judges all dance with their crews

S H

commented earlier only after watching the intros but after watching the first battle it felt a bit strange. Isn't it normal for both dancers to dance to the same music in a battle though? Or did they cut out and show that each dancer could pick the music style they preferred? Hmm...it isn't apples to apples if they're not dancing the same music. And I like you as the fourth judge :) I agree with you that the winners shouldn't be picked purely because of the judges' preferred styles. I would have thought it would be better to have more professional dancers as judges vs celebrities no matter how good a dancer the celebrity is. Understand the need to draw in the mass audience but maybe a better balance might have been better. Looking forward to the choreographed stuff. Maybe battles are just not the focus of strength of this show.... Really don't think YGX was really dancing like she was in a battle...actually....none of them felt like it...maybe I was just spoiled by street dance of china 4. (;´・ω・)・・・・they're all like...lacking in energy. the music choices didn't help like you said...

I just watched half of this and I love It! My question is pertains to comment of "dancers dancers" and idol dancers, with my queen Lalisa is she considered as Idol dancer?` or dancer dancer? Because I feel like she can do any style. By the way Jeff I love your vids! 😊

Britta Carlson

SO excited to be watching this show with you!!❤️‍🔥I think dance is my favorite part of kpop and it’s always nice to hear comments from an actual dancer… I have to say, I think that Ten would absolutely KILL it with the freestyle battle… he can do ALL the styles❤️‍🔥

Britta Carlson

I'll kill that fruit fly for you!!

Britta Carlson

Watching Kang Daniel and BoA on this together made me really happy... I honestly couldn't have imagined Daniel hosting a show, but he's just SO PRECIOUS!!!!!!!!!

Anonymous

Finally! I watched this first episode. I am so glad I waited to see if you would react to this show. It is going to be a fun watch to the end. I hope MNET is paying these women double-triple because the amount of show they are putting on is priceless. It reminds me a lot of wrestling where a lot of them are friends behind the scenes. I think they know what is going on for sure. Maybe there is some true drama here and there, but overall they probably are all laughing their asses off after the cameras call "cut".

Anonymous

I am curious to see if Taeyong will adapt any of these new moves he is watching later on. I am going to see how influenced his dance style is in the next couple of months...

Starryyy

I haven't watched this show yet and I have decided to watch it with you!! ❤❤❤

Starryyy

You are definitely right when you mentioned the "evil editing on this show". I hope you'll get to watch Jessi's Interview with YGX on her show "Showterview" when all of them finally had the chance to let out the truth about "the evil editing" (which made it look like completely different from reality) and how much hurt and pain they have to go through with the viewers criticizing them for something they didn't do (but the show made it look like they did). They even shared specific scenes where it was edited wrong and stuffs like what really happened. I hope you'll check it out soon! The full interview is available on YouTube with English subtitles already.

Asmaulhusna Yt

Why am I rewatching your reactions like I don’t have an exam tomorrow?😭

Asmaulhusna Yt

I totally agree, simeez really ate that. And the music choice for the second battle really sucked

gandashaa

Hi Jeff! Finally I am here in your patreon to watch your reactions about this show. I am glad you've got time to watch this and made reaction to it even though the duration of the show was so long. I don't really have a problem for Taeyong being a judge here. MNET chose this judges for their own reasons. And at some point I can understand, maybe during the pre-meeting of the show some choreographers suggested Taeyong. Also for those who think that Taeyong didn't deserved to be the judge in this show, yes idols and street dancers are not the same, but i'd like you to remember that Taeyong never dreamed of becoming an Idol. He was street casted, and was trained to be an Idol. Unlike other idols who have passion on becoming one and they know basics steps, Taeyong was trained by lots of choreographers so he can learn how to dance, and his teachers were almost giving up on him until he become very good at it, and become not only the Main dancer in NCT127, but the Center and the Leader of NCT. So yeah, he was like those street dancers too, but the difference is he was trained exclusively in a company but doesn't make him less as a dancer. Nowadays, choreographers recognize Taeyong as one of the best dancers in Idols. Also, I don't think BoA would agree for Taeyong to be part of this show if she doesn't have trust on him. She was also one of the mentors of Taeyong in SM. And also, this was the first dance show he attended to as a judge, and it's episode 1 y'all, he gets better in every next episodes, don't be too harsh on commenting about him, no one's perfect.

Elena

I know I'm late to comment on this but actually it's not the dancers who chose the song As you said it's the DJ that "randomly" chooses the songs in battles and here too the show follows the same rule. In the Korean captions it's clearly stated that it's the DJ's song choice that was good, so it's just mistranslated 😅
