YO I had the hardest time with ranking so pardon me if I am less nuanced with my reasoning for the bottom placements of my final ranking. Everybody is so good, and they're basically just at the bottom because the other performances had a little more going on for them for me haha.

ALSO I've heard a lot of things that are going on with fandoms so please stay respectful in the comments section down below. Disagreements are okay as long as respect is there :)

I literally watch the whole reaction with your comments i think it gives great insight but i have to say my mother is not happy with me being on the laptop for more than 2 hours

Currently watching and I just wanted to answer your first question before I forgot it! I like to watch your whole thing because it's like I'm watching with a friend and I can see how much of what I thought of the show you agree with. Plus I like seeing all your reactions to everything. I actually watch each episode like 3 times - once as soon as it's available without subs, then with subs, then with you. Keeps me entertained 😅and also I notice different things each time!

Thoughts on this round Rankings: ATEEZ - The Boyz - SF9 - iKON - BTOB/ SKZ (they tie for me) ATEEZ - Their storyline was super clear and they even connected it to their previous performance and referenced their own overarking storyline with the Hala Hala dudes. by far the best rearrangement on Kingdom up till now. Chan’s stank face says it all lol. They used classical music sampling again (Vivaldi’s Sumer 4 seasons) and the performance had Rock, hiphop, EDM and even Latin elements to it, yet it all fit together so well. Just HOW on earth??!! Fr. I bow down to the Edenary team. They’re hella amazing. The dance too. A* as expected from the performance monsters they are. San seriously popped OFF here and Yunho as centre? Yes Please. Only thing I could have done without was Hongjoong’s speach. He looked like he was having hella fun though so that made me mind it a bit less 😂 The Boyz - The rearrangement worked really well with the concept they were trying to portray, the choreo was downright delicious they were so in sync. Just in general their stage felt incredible well thought out and polished, kinda luxurious even. Anyways, they did a great job. SF9 - The fight choreo was super impressive, the dance breaks were what I've been wanting to see from them (I hate the fact that the most impactful dance break was almost not visible due to it being so dark, lighting team come ON?!! I watched the dance practice and was like, wait what?! They did that??). Clear storyline, the facial expressions were on point this time. Only thing I felt was kinda lacking was the rearrangement of the song. It felt too much like the original imo. (I'm also just super happy for them they did well in the peer ranking category this time. It must have been such a relief after receiving 0 in the previous round. As far as I could tell BTOB and SF9 got all 5 votes, ATEEZ and iKON each got 3, SKZ got 2 and TBZ got 0) iKON - They changed the song and made their own. It fit well with the performance but I don't think I'd actually listen to the rearrangement on it's own. That's fine though. I don't go around listening to the remixes that are used at dance comp's either lol. I saw in the credits that Mino worked on it so that’s fun. ^^ Ju-ne sounded great here. He has a very peculiar vocal colour that really makes him stand out. I remember absolutely falling in love with him after hearing "Apology" back in the day, due to how he started off that song. That group slowmo choreo is what did it for me in the end. Combined with the red lighting it looked so cool! For some reason I wish Bobby had a handheld mic during his rap parts, idk why lol. I was living for the random ad libs. It made the performance feel alot more natural and fun. BTOB - The rearrangement was cool but lacked any driving force by only doing the drop once at the end of the performance. I kinda got bored 3/4’s in just waiting for the chorus to drop hehe. (after watching the uncut version I felt this alot less, but still a little bit) Props for the live singing and damn Minhyuk really do be looking rrrreal nice in red. I loved their concept as well. Now I’m even more impatient for real concerts to start up again. 🥲 I definitely understand how they ranked high in peer voting since as fellow artists, the missing of concerts and that kinda stuff must have really hit home. SKZ - It's really weird but I felt no real connection to their performance at all. Seungmin and Han’s vocals were stunning. Changbin really went off in his rap parts. However it just felt unnecessarily dark to me. There was nothing new about the concept or the storyline. There’s been an over saturation of dark concepts lately, and where I would have initially been like - Wow, that’s AWESOME! It was just - Wow, okeh. I guess it’s another one of those then. I wish there would have been more moments when the members were all together and I couldn’t figure out the storyline either. By all the other groups I could clearly make it out but with SKZ I just felt confused? Random notes: - The fact that San went to and iKON concert with his MOM. I can’t even.. She’s awesome. 😊 iKON plz go on an international tour in the future or imma have to move to Korea. Fr. - Also where are Changsub and Bobby??!! Changsub looked kinda unwell ngl. But I have no idea what could be going on with Bobby. Did they have other schedules as well that day? If so, damn. That must be exhausting. - Everyone praising Han’s versatility had me all kinds of proud. 💛 - San’s trousers are so cool. I need a pair. 👀 I liked Yunho’s look the most though. It felt really cohesive and suited his tallness. I loved the simplicity of it, with the asymmetrical detail and colour adding just enough to be interesting. Idk he looked kinda cute hehe. - Hongjoong added his laugh signature before the rap part. ✨ Also, his new hair?! His stylists are having way too much fun. - Juyeon was amazing, the duet with that female dancer? Wow. But I’ve had enough now. We’re talking about THE BOYZ here. Not JUYEON, SUNWOO and the boyz. There is obvious focus on certain members of some groups but by TBZ it’s really too much imo. I wish they’d put some other members in the spotlight a bit more. 😢 - Kevin's hat in the training room... I'm in love. Like legit. IN LOVE. Where can I buy one? And if not. I'm making on myself. I'm dead serious. - Don’t get me started on Hwiyoung. I love kpop first and foremost because of the music okeh!... That said. He’s the only kpop idol to ever grace my desktop background and I’m constantly reminded why every time he’s in frame.😳His solo stuff is really good btw. Do check out his album “Free!” If you have time ppl. “Sick of your Sh*t (feat. J.DON)” is real noice too. https://soundcloud.com/h0123/sid - Everyone is constantly joking about performing “Bloom Bloom” but I’m literally praying we get at least one bright concept on this whole damn show. Life isn’t just angst and shadows. I’d love some sunshine and rainbows too plz.🌈 - The songs keep on being shown with and Apple Music logo at the beginning of each performance but they’re not on Apple Music yet… I’m confused. 🙃 But yieeah. This show is such a blessing and a nightmare at the same time. I get so see amazing performances of all the groups I love and my heart is literally screaming at all the interactions between my faves. The fact that it’s a competition is just…. I don’t want to see anyone feel sad damnit, they’re all so good 😭

I really hope that you could do a reaction to the original version of I'll be your man. It was composed, arranged and written by BTOB members. They don't have a dance practice video for this song, but their live vocals, especially the harmony parts are insane, which can only be shown through their live stages. It's a very hard song to perform live. Also this is one of their rare songs when they have more aggressive rap parts, unlike their usual chill style.

It is only Jeff's opinion and it is respected as all the others, as he has said, each one has their own criteria to qualify the groups, just as you or I can put the boys in first place there will be others who will put them in last, question of tastes and criteria. P.S. Sorry to disagree with you, the guys did very well this round, but Wonderland was fantastic.

FUN FACT: BtoB is also a self producing group. Eunkwang is actually a Director at Cube Entertainment Eunkwang is actually voted to be one of the best vocalist of kpop in general. Along with their vocal line Also Ilhoon(ex member) is also voted to be one of the best rapper in KPOP along with Bobby zico and gd Minhyuk is a MVP in ISAC(IDOL ATHLETIC CHAMPIONSHIP) winning multiple gold medals in various sports like sprinting high jump(able to jump over 180cm with just leg strength) and a record holder for idols in jumping over that tall chair like thing in the ep 6 preview. Also I hope Jeff can react to the original BtoB i'll be your man and MOVIE mv not to compare but i just wanna watch him react to them masterpiece of a song. Both of this song is a rare song where BtoB kinda tackles the modern genre of kpop aside from their debut days. I really hope so plss jefff :'(

I'll comment later with my thoughts on the performances for this round but PLEASE THESE CUTS OMG I can't take it any more. I've been watching Mnet shows for years since Produce and I thought I was used to them but they seriously are getting worse and worse - I don't remember the cuts during the performances being as intrusive as they are on Kingdom currently. It completely kills the groove, just as they're about to go into a new section and you know something good's coming but we don't need five other teams to say 'wow!' multiple times before it actually happens!!!! I'm so damn frustrated at how it's being edited for broadcast. I won't say the cuts are entirely pointless because I do enjoy seeing the other groups' reactions but 1) it's being edited in way too intrusively and repetitively and 2) as a viewer, the first time you see the performance you should be able to focus solely on it and nothing else and on the narrative that is being built up. Disrupting that every couple of seconds for shots of other people looking impressed and then rewinding and then repeating the same thing, however fun it might be at times, only alienates me from the actual performance and tries to influence my thinking. Sometimes I see people hyping things up and then I feel afraid/confused because I might not have seen it as that impressive, or vice versa - something I liked is not emphasised in the reaction edits but those edits shouldn't be influencing my thoughts.

I'm still completely shocked that Stray Kids got last for the expert ranking. I really thought that this performance was better than their last one. However, I do think whether it be the camera work or whatever, I have heard other people think that the choreo didn't seem as prevalent as the other groups..? But I don't think that would/should push them down to 6th. Not to say any other groups deserve to be lower, but it's still hard for me to fathom the results. I hope The Boyz and Stray Kids, especially I.N. because he was crying and unsatisfied, are not too discouraged by the results! Major congrats to Ateez though! I'm not sure I agree they were number one for this round, but I still think they did amazing. Their passion is always something else. I'm excited for next week! Thanks Jeff for putting so much time and effort into providing us these reactions and evaluations!

To answer your 1st question jeff..I usually watch the full performance of each group when it is uploaded on youtube...and then i wait for your upload reaction to watch the whole show with you..cause i feel like I'm watching with a friend and i really love, enjoy and learn from all your reactions.. I was also shock for the straykids ranking on this round cause i think they really did well on their performance..but also as you say it's really hard to rank them and we have diff. personal taste cause all the teams are good in their own way.. (especially cause I'm also a multi fandom and i stan most of them so it's hard to support only one group) well for now i wil just enjoy the show and their perpormances and not be stress by the rankings(if i can😄)and see where it goes... Jeff i watch the whole thing live on Thursday and follow the live trans on twitter then watch the whole thing again with you ! My ranking is 1 . SF9 2. IKON 3. Ateez 4. BTOB 5. SKZ 6. TBZ but it's incredibly hard they are all so great : Just a side note ( and i know this is not meant in any way ) but can you please stop referring to Yunho as ' the other guy ' it feels incredibly disrespectful to such a legend ( again i know this is not intentional in any way ) thank you Jeff :)

I think my personal rankings were closer to the peer evaluations, although still different to yours. I have no idea how BTOB and SKZ ended up on the bottom for expert rankings... For me my ranking is: 1. Ateez + BTOB tied 2. Skz 3. Ikon 4. SF9 5. TBZ I know I have a personal bias towards Ateez, but I do personally still think they did better than where you placed them. It was tough though bc all the groups really pulled it out and made it much harder for me to draw clear lines. I also agree that Wonderland was a show stopper, but I don’t think it’s super fair to compare the rounds between any group, despite if they improved or didn’t, just because the rounds serve different purposes. I think Ateez, Ikon, and Skz had my favourite musical arrangements and really spun the songs into something new and cohesive, like I’d listen to all of those without the performance and still feel impacted. BTOB really found their pocket this round. Overall it was the most well-rounded performance and they really played well to their strengths without sacrificing a storyline and impactful creative direction. The musical/jazz influence was a smart move, although I wish the arrangement was a bit more creative. But the overall impact is why I have them tied for first, and Ateez’s arrangement and creative direction are why I have them in that place too. Overall this round was so tight and I enjoyed watching everything.

I watch the whole show through your reaction video. For the ranking, I'll keep it simple (btw my ult bias group in kingdom is atz). my general unbiased preferences of the performances for this round -> 1. skz 2. Ikon 3. BtoB 4. atz 5. sf9 6. tbz

Soff

my personal ranking: 1. BTOB: I loved the arrangement of back door. I t was low-key and their vocalsss my gosh btob is really superior when it comes to that. I I thought the whole concept was super good and I appreciate they stayed true to themselves without flashy dance moves.. also the fact that they're doing all this as only 4 and not the entire group I really admire them. 2. iKON: I loved the way they rearranged the song and made it their own and the way they incorporated the inception movie aspects.. I still want them to bring out more of their own dance capabilities but overall I think they did great. It's sad to see that everything that has gone down the last couple of years has really given them confidence issues but I hope we get to see heroes of remix/m&m/win ikon back. 3. SF9: The Stealer is definitely my favorite THE BOYZ song so I really like it hahah. The arrangement was done super well I love the movie aspect the perf had and the impact they were able to bring. 4. ATEEZ: I guess I'm too used to the original cause I really like the arrangement but it didn't do much for me tbh. The performance was good as always ATEEZ always kill it with the dancing. I thought Jongho's last not was too much and it felt to shouty imo and I could've done without the speech. 5. Stray Kids: I personally love stray kids but I didn't like this perf all that much. I wanted their vocals to shine more but I felt like they didn't do justice to the original vocals. I admire that they wanted to try something different but I think they could've done better if they arranged it in a more skz style. Jisung's vocals though! He didn't disappoint and he keeps making me so impressed in all his abilities. 6. THE BOYZ: Out of all the performances theirs was the least memorable imo. I became a fan of theirs during RTK and this time around for KINGDOM they're not hitting for me. They always have excellent ideas but sometimes I feel like its too much and I would love it if they had a simpler stage without so many props.

My ranking: SF9 TBZ BTOB Stray kids Ikon Ateez

I watch the youtube full cams performances first lol then I watch when viki has 40 ish percent subtitles the whole show and then I watch your whole reaction because I loveeeed your criteria and your input, it really adds to my experience of the show and I love your rankings....that being said as an atiny I am sad that you ranked ateez AND theboyz so low......but your review did change my original ranking, my original ranking was 1)the boyz 2) ateez 3) stray kids 4) btob 5) sf9 6) ikon (just based on how entertained I was and if i wanted to rewatch but ovbiosuly that's bias because I loveeee ateez). After watching your reaction I admit Ateez's performance did not live up to my standards for them, I also think it lost its spark after more than a few rewatchs so my new ranking today changed but the boyz performance was so good, I don't know how I would describe it but as entertainment and not a fan (i dont know what their fans are called either) I think their performance was the most cohesive, the most exciting, the most impactful to me. Overall my ranking is 1) The BOYZ 2) Stray Kids (this one was also very emotional, and I had no idea they wrote their songs, my fave song of theirs is SLUMP actually followed by TOP) 3) BTOB (I agree this is a solid performance, such a musical vibe) 4) SF9 Yes, great concept, great vocals, i just def feel myself liking them more and more 5) ATEEZ (i am sad especially because I know they lose their spots during fan voting but that is how this round went, I am glad they made friends, I am glad they enjoyed the performance, I love their work, and I am proud that they got #1 here, and I also agree this is not their best and I am okay with that) 6) IKON, i loved ikon, but I did not enjoy bobby's performance, and the dance was strong but maybe I am just not as big of a fan of their rap as much as I was in 2018, and I also don't know what it is here besides taste.... overall for me the song that made the impact musically and performance wise and I will save as a new favorite of mine is THE BOYZ

iKON's "Inception" performance is the definition of Re-Born. Periodt. 🔥 What I like the most about theirs is that the highlight of the performance was the "song" itself, which makes so much sense because the theme is called "Re-Born". Like what you've also said, the song was also stuck on my head ever since I heard their version. The arrangement was so good! 🥰 and the fact that they chose to change the chorus, that was a huge risk y'all! because that's like the most vital part of the song. and I'm so proud that they did so so well with it! 👏🏻 I hope YG or Mnet could release DORARA PAENGI already. I've been waiting for it since last week. 🥺 I have listened to the full version stage audio for so many times already (even w/o watching the perf itself) it's now my new jam! 🔥 But I seriously need the studio version now. 🙏🏻 It doesn't feel like just a cover or just a remix version of the song. Seriously, you could just download the full performance stage as "audio" and it sounds like a legit comeback song/stage for iKON. ❤

Anonymous

I think in terms of actually doing the re-born concept, ateez and ikon are easily top 3, they actually made changes to the song and performance. No offence to tbz and sf9 but the reason I would put them last is that they both felt performances each group would do by themselves (for example sf9’s felt like an award show ver of the stealer that tbz would’ve done), but that’s just my opinion don’t hate me

vega

For me the ranking is Ikon > BtoB > SF9 > Ateez > The boyz > Stray kids I hope you will react to the original songs you don't know If I'm not wrong : I'll be your man (MV and live), Rythm ta and O sole mio

eve_ss

My personal ranking: 1. iKON 2. BTOB 3. Stray Kids and ATEEZ (if based on the the theme I would choose ATEEZ, if based on my personal preference then it would be Stray Kids). 4. THE BOYZ and SF9 (I can't choose only one I'm sorry. This is my limit. I love all the perf seriously!) Obviously, I enjoyed iKON and BTOB's stages the most. I mean, I could listen to their rendition all day! (even w/o watching the perf.) For iKON especially, their re-born stage feels like a legit original song from them! while for BTOB, their vocals never disappoints really! I got goosebumps seriously! and their concept was so good! For ATEEZ and Stray Kids, with the theme Re-Born, I feel like ATEEZ did more so with the arrangement of the song they chose to made it like their own, the concept was great too! and they also added a lot to it, while for Stray Kids although they also did so well, I feel like the song arrangement was not "re-born" in the sense that much and it was still kinda like the original version but with just much more darker vibe and feel to it. HOWEVER, if I would choose what I enjoyed more, then it would be Stray Kids, theme aside, I really like their performance and it was so nice to see them do a much more vocally centric song like this and they really killed it! For SF9 and THE BOYZ, I love both their performance too. I love how creative they are in terms of concepts, and with all the details of the performance. But like what you've mentioned Jeff, it was really hard to rank them all because they were all so close and they all did so great!

Unfortunately The boyz were 5th and Stray kids 6th for me. The boyz performance had potential but lacked quite a bit. The timings and the visuals were off. With latin inspired concept they could have done more, especially since they had female dancers. Stray kids performance ... idk what was going on. It might be because I didnt know the lyrics etc, when I first watched it. The whole piece was sloppy and hectic for me, they can do far better. My number one is Ateez as their choreo was hard and their expresivness is on another level. Everyone did such a great job though!

Anonymous

hi I can help with explaining skz's storyline for this performance! the whole basis of this song revolves around them having someone that they care about so much to the point that they're willing to sacrifice themselves to save this person. (it's easier to understand when you can understand the lyrics while watching this performance) In summary, the little boy represents their "precious person" who had turned to stone/died (could be friend, family, etc.) Hence in the beginning you see Han kneeling down in front of a grave and statue of the boy. SKZ are regretful and want to bring him back. They decide to summon the devil to achieve their goal, but you see angels of heaven trying to stop them and failing because skz are so desperate to bring the boy back. The summoned devil (Felix) offers them the Philosopher's Stone, but in exchange for it, skz must sacrifice their own lives. That's why in the end, everyone dies while the child was successfully resurrected and seen hugging Chan.

For me: 1. BTOB: As a stan of each and every one of their groups, the way they flipped Back Door into a rock song is amazing. Eunkwang helping with arrangement, Changsub practicing his vocals, Peniel writing his own rap lyrics, and Minhyuk helping with the choreography. I just loved seeing that. 2: Stray Kids 3. iKON 4. SF9 5: ATEEZ 6: The Boyz

eve_ss

Since you already watch the re-born stages for these songs, I hope you could react now to the original songs. 🙏🏻 1. iKON - Rhythm Ta 2. BTOB - I'll be your man 3. SF9 - O Sole Mio (I know you already reacted to Back Door (Stray kids), Inception (Ateez), and Stealer (The Boyz)) so yeah 😉 So looking forward to these! Hopefully when you already have free time. ☺️

Samantha

I'm back with my essay length opinion of the performances! (I copied/pasted my thoughts from last week so if you saw them on last week's video it's all the same.) SF9: Personally, I think this is SF9's best performance so far. I disagree about the acting being too much but only because that is something that SF9 is known for. Also, unlike Stray Kids last round they kept is all connected and flowing as opposed to broken up by cuts and different areas of the stage. They stayed together and kept it going without too many cuts without making the audience have to jump from one to another. They showed and performed with their own color and skills, something I was missing from them last round. Also, I like the rearrangement for the Stealer a lot. I think they did a great job incorporating good level changes, group choreo, and vocal moments that they missed out on before. We can really see their growth in this new environment for them because I think we really need to remember that idol groups very rarely use props and multi level stages for their work. This is something new to SF9 and several of the other groups so I'm glad to see them progress in their own skills! Overall, 8.5/10 The Boyz: Definitely the best performance of the episode, but personally for me only by a small margin. THE ARRANGEMENT THO!!!!!! I'm in love with it!!!! The style of what they did with this performance was somehow completely new and yet so the Boyz. It reminded me a lot of what I felt when they did Danger on rtk because both of these performances focus on songs I know really well but at the same time made them purely The Boyz's performance rather than just copying/imitating the original. (Tbh, all the groups have done that so far this round but it really hit me for this stage) Overall I think they had a good balance but I still think the tango moments, while gorgeous and so well done didn't really flow into the rest of the stage as well. I'm glad they had them for the stage but idk if they were actually necessary in the end. Overall, 9/10. iKon: I'm sorry, I really really really wanted to like this stage and performance but there's also a reason why I never became a full blown iKonic; I'm not that big into the YG sound. To me, this felt too much like a mushing together of an iKon song with the og Inception. It didn't flow together the way I think it should have. However, the performance was incredible!!!! I loved how they incorporated the individual moments along with the full group choreo on the chorus. Not to mention the consistency that iKon has in being true to their own sound and vibe. I so respect and praise them for it, even if it ends up not really being my thing. And Bobby's verse just *chefs kiss* The man NEVER misses tbh, I'm so glad he's an Ateez fan now! (Mingi/Bobby collab one day hopefully?!?!?!?!) Overall, 8/10. HERE'S THE NEW STUFF! Ateez: They did it again. They created something that I feel like fully explains and shows just why they deserve first place. Also, they're really out here proving to me that they are THE 4th gen idol group. So Hongjoong's additions to this iconic (haha) iKon song truly made it only Ateez's by the end of it all. (I personally think tbz and iKon did this last episode as well btw!) The influence of Money Heist on not just the performance but the music as well really shows how much of a creative force Hongjoong and the Edenary team along with BBTrippin really are. The way the Latin influence flowed in so cleanly and subtly into the og track really made me fall in love with this song all over again. It's one of the few iKon songs that I actually listen to whenever it pops up on spotify or something so I was really interested to see where Ateez would take it. Also, the way they incorporated the feel of the modern era along with the Korean history of the feel of censorship and a lack of a voice from the common people shows Hongjoong and his awareness and willingness to talk about current events which we don't see as often in idols. Overall, this was a 9.5/10 for me. It would be a 10/10 but the ending just wasn't enough for me personally. I'll have to think on it for like a week I bet, just like with the round 1 TBZ performance lol. BtoB: Y E S. THIS REARRANGEMENT IS EVERYTHING TO ME!!!! (Also, Minhyuk loves to remind me how much I used to be in love with him lmaooooooooo.) Their concept was so nice and clear and they were able to incorporate those moments of singularity within the whole of their group without making it disjointed or messy. The way they incorporated actual doors into the staging of it as well made me super happy because while it may seem obvious it also could make the performance seem choppy but it wasn't! They had the flow of the camera and the appearance of the members down to the second and it was just wonderful to see. The vocal moments had me literally screaming the first time I watched it bc GOD, that's just it for me. That's the vocals I fully go for. And just like the groups watching, I too was like "man I miss concerts :(((((((" Overall, I give this a 9/10! Stray Kids: Just to say here, I miss Hyunjin. He would absolutely be adding that extra push that I think Stray Kids is currently missing. I'm on the fence for them (again, so like maybe it's just a me thing). My main thing was I was a bit confused for the more nuanced pieces of the storyline they had for this performance. Like I got the main overall theme of sacrificing yourself for a loved one but then smaller pieces weren't as clear to me? Idk, but looking at this through a theatrical lens I think they needed to clarify some of the smaller details a bit more. But the vocals were incredible (once again, Han and Changbin compete for my fave member and end up tied ^_^) And the dance moments were actually really well done and incorporated well into the whole of the performance. It was much cleaner and pulled together this time rather than being chopped up and scattered like the last round so I fully think that their growth on this show is going in such a positive direction. Overall this performance was an 8/10 for me, which honestly is shocking bc I'm very pro add some demonic sacrifices into your kpop performances lmaoooooooo!!! (If you know the Buzzfeed Unsolved meme of that's enough dancing we need a murder, that's very much my personal fave kpop concept) Final personal ranking: 1. Ateez 2. BtoB 3. The Boyz 4. SF9 (Honestly they're tied with the boyz for me on this round tho.) 5. Stray Kids 6. iKon Some final thoughts on this week: On the voting; it's shit. Like yes, I agree that fan votes are important but 40% is WAY too much. I think it should be 20% max if not even less. That view on my end is also influenced on how the fucking stupid ass voting is being run on whosfan with the whole you have to vote for 3 different groups. It's honestly messing it all up and is just making the outcome incorrect with how everyone is voting. It should just be a vote for your group once and that's it. Not to mention that the app is trash and constantly crashes and glitches. But as always my final say is fuck mnet and fuck the rankings, just let the lads have fun doing performances that they really can never do anywhere else and let them create as artists! Getting off my soap box now but like I think that at this point the rankings barely mean anything real outside of the expert evaluations and the views for streaming. Everything else just seems useless or pointless. Overall, I just want these artists to be given the chance to have fun and be proud of their creations rather than be upset and borderline hating themselves for small mistakes that feel like the world all because of these stupid rankings. Also, I watch the whole thing you put up Jeff! I watch for the reactions, the insights, and the rankings. I can feel the genuine care and thought you put into your reviews of each of the things you put out both here and on youtube so truly I think watching the full amount of the content you put out is just a respectful thing for me to do if I'm willing to do so (which I obviously am lol). You create great content and as someone who is always looking to expand their thoughts and skills on/in the entertainment and performance world, I think ending up in your little corner of patreon and youtube is just a great place to be! 😊😊😊😊

I always watch the full reaction! I like to get a new perspective on everything :)

Yeees! until now, no one (from any Idols) still able to beat MINHYUK's record on that vault jump! (275cm y'all!) 👏🏻🔥 Jeff would definitely be familiar with that game from that one NCT World episode. 💚😂

wow..have not read your entire comment..but impressed by its length!

My personal ranking is: 1. Ikon 2. Ateez 3. BtoB 4. SF9 5. SKZ 6. TBZ All the groups did excellent, but if we focus on the theme of the Re-born episode, I think the first three did a good job, especially ikon and ateez, they managed to completely change the song and make it their own, with the arrangements they put it the stamp of each group. BtoB with his vocals never cease to amaze me. You should react to his videos like Movie, ill be your man, missing you, you won't regret it.

Camylle Val

i love this song, it was hard for me to separate the song from the group, i liked skz performance but i can’t like it as much as they deserve because i love the original so much, like the original live vocals are impregnated in my mind

My ranking is: 1. Stray kids: Their vocals rap and dancing were amazing. The emotions were on point and gave the song a totally different meaning 2. The boyz: I feel like even if you took away the props it would have still been a nice all-round performance. They had the vocals, dancing and rapping. Nothing unnecessary. 3. BtoB: They made that song theirs. The vocals were amazing, even though they didn't do much of dancing they transformed the song. 4. Ikon: I loved the concept and the dancing but there were some weird parts to me. They did make it theirs. 5. Ateez: Although I like the performance, they did have vocals and rap. I can't help but feel like it was the wrong choice for them. it also doesn't feel like a song I would just listen to. 6. SF9: Their performance was grand but I do think their acting took away some of the impact for me. They did make the song theirs but it didn't fit for me. The holding on to the guns seemed a bit weird to me and near the end, it felt like there was something missing. a shame because I really liked their performance in round 1. First time commenting on my ranking btw. Hope I don't offend anyone, it's my opinion. I appreciate yours too.

Hey Jeff! So during the rewatch of Ateez's Rhythm Ta Full Cam version, you had said that Jongho was off pitch. I had listened to that a couple of times and actually, he was on pitch. If you can hear the vocals on it, there wasn't any backing track for that second high note so you can clearly tell it was his voice and he hit spot on. So, I was just wondering and no disrespect to you at all because that's definitely not what I am trying to do, what's your definition of being on pitch and off pitch because you have said that in a couple of your videos before and most of the time, the singers are on pitch. P.S- I'm not just saying this as a viewer but as a performer myself who has been trained in music and singing for some years now. Also, if you want to reach out to me, insta: @itznay_allday00 (or type Naomi Pannell)

I like to watch again with you to see if there is anything you noticed that I did not appreciate the first time. I think it's interesting to read everyone's ranking, and just overall learn more about the groups. My personal ranking for this round 1) iKon 2) BTOB 3/4) Stray Kids/SF9 5) ATEEZ 6) The Boyz. Every one did great! I placed The Boyz last because I think that mistake with the lighter stick decreased the impact of the second half of the performance. For example, that one scene with the dancing and mirrors was so dark that I could not really appreciate it. ATEEZ, I felt like the performance did not really match the arrangement of the song. They were dancing very hardcore, but the song was rearranged to be slightly slower in tempo and lost the bounce/energy that was needed to match their overall dance and narrative. Stray Kids and SF9 were interchangeable. I think they both lacked and did better in certain aspects. For Stray Kids, I felt the narrative itself was confusing with the little boy. I had to re-watch a few times and read comments to fully interpret it. But, I appreciated that they attempted a very hard song to sing vocally and did it well. SF9 is just the opposite. The stage production and narrative was very cohesive, but I agree that the singing/dancing itself could have been more in the second half. BtoB and iKon did well in balancing all aspects, and then it is just a matter of preferences for who is 1st or 2nd.

Personally, I also had the same ranking as you. I thought that Stray Kids and BTOB did extremely well with the theme of "re-born" and the arrangement of the song. I think your criteria is spot on to what it SHOULD be. Their first performances should have had a different criteria (or same criteria with just a heavier emphasis on certain ones) because they were showing themselves off, so dancing, vocals, rapping, things like that should be taken into consideration more. With this week and last, arrangment and portrayal of this theme should be higher. I will reference Stray Kids and BTOB again because they demonstrated this so well. I consider Stray Kids to be a nice all-rounded group, while BTOB is obviously vocal concentrated. I got nervous when Stray Kids picked them because I was curious to see how the rap and dance would play into such a vocal-heavy song. The "re-born" concept worked SO WELL for Stray Kids, and same could be said for BTOB. The arrangment played into their favor, and that was truly the best part about their performances. For the other groups, I can see how the arrangement worked for them, but I felt like it did not stand out compared to the others. All of the groups worked hard for this performance, I just saw that Stray Kids and BTOB went above and beyond. I really wish the expert's criteria was released for this purpose, because we can see how this affected some of the groups who thought they did well, but it didn't show in the rankings. Overall, I agree heavily with you on everything!! Also, I watch the entire thing! I watch the performances when they are released on Youtube, then I wait for you to react to it to watch it alongside you in a way, I love hearing your thoughts and your input! It makes me think about things I haven't before, and I like your perspective. Thanks again for your honesty during these performances!! (:

This week my list is SO different from yours 😜 But I agree that ranking was hard, and there wasn't much separating them for me. But based on personal preferences and re-watch value for me, my list looks like this: 1. SF9 2. Stray Kids 3. The Boyz 4. BTOB 5. iKON 6. ATEEZ. And I watch the full versions first, then I wait for your reaction to watch the whole show "with you" 😉👍❤️ I was btw really happy that you liked SF9's stage better after watching the full version 😊

This is the first time that I really have an entirely different ranking from you Jeff, but I totally appreciate your thoughts. Those are good objective feedback. Here's my ranking: ATEEZ - IKON - BTOB - SF9 - SKZ - TBZ... I put Ateez as first because of the "completeness" of the performance. The storyline, the meaning, the vocals, the dance and the energy. It's just super complete and I am truly amazed of their capabilities. Like I can't imagine how can they top their Wonderland performance, but I think they really did a great job. For Skz, I think it was a good performance and a difficult one. But I feel that the vocals were a bit forced/strained and I felt that. But overall, it was beautifully haunting.

Lawresha

I completely agreed with your reasoning and I really thought stray kids or btob would get first and to be honest I still don't understand how they where ranked so low and poor jisung gave up his morning coffee for two week just to keep his throat healthy and I thought he and everyone else sounded amazing I just don't get it😩 on a good note not many people know how good straykids can sing and a lot of knetz have been praising their vocals as well as bravery for taking on a btob song as no one else has tried to because of how difficult it is to sing

As a Korean, no, I.N’s crack wasn’t noticeable at all in terms of language. In fact, despite SKZ ranking last, they are making the most buzz on Korean forums/blogspots, and are being praised for their vocals, rap, etc. SKZ are one of the few who sang completely live and showcased truly how skillful they are, in ALL categories. In the 5 years this song has been out, not a single group has covered it because of how difficult it is to perform. Korean netizens recognize that and many are noticing that the so-called “experts” take more of a liking to the extravagance of a stage (which Jeff, you said was not supposed to be the main focus of a performance) rather than the skills and performance itself. The “experts” criticism for SKZ’s previous performance was that the concept was based too much on POVs (basically saying too much acting i guess), but for this performance they did a vocal/rap based performance (an amazing one, at that) and it ranks them last? It just doesn’t make sense, and of course these expert’s credentials are being questioned by Koreans as we have no idea who they are (hell, they criticized another group last round for not being sexy enough??). But of course, what can we expect from MNET... a company notorious for unfairness and rigging, one that has always snuffed out SKZ’s efforts.

Hmm my comment dissappeared :(...may try to repost later.

I love how surprised BTOB was that Han could both rap and sing when they have a whole all rounder Lee Minhyuk in their team, like come on especially you guys should know that all rounders exist

Anonymous

Mine did too, Luckily I typed it in word so I still had that up and was able to copy and paste.

pia_universe

ranking all these group is already difficult without the performances bcoz u know they are all good and deserving. but then add the performances, dancing, singing and acting. every week is hell week deciding your ranking for the voting hahah THIS WEEK is tough...

pia_universe

btw. I watch the your whole video. reaction, ranking and what you have to say haha.

My top 2 were ATEEZ and BTOB. Rhythm Ta might not be as impactful a song as Wonderland but ATEEZ knows how to put on a show and hit all the checkboxes. They did an excellent job re-arranging the song to fit the theme. They incorporate the right balance of acting while keeping the focus on singing and dancing and their storyline is clear and easy to grasp. What most impresses me is the production level of the stage. The scene transitions are very smooth. The amount of work, movement and timing it takes to shoot one scene to the next in one take should be commended (that is probably one of the more challenging aspects of performing in KD, so many things to keep track of, like I’m surprised no one lost their mask). I would also like to point out, ATEEZ takes every opportunity to hit the beat throughout their performance. HJ when rapping is grooving to the music and even when walking hits the beat instead of just focusing on his rap. San’s rope scene, he hits the beat with his movement instead of just shimmying up to hit the button. Those details while minor really adds to the performance and show how much thought and details goes into every scene to maximize impact. For those familiar with ATEEZ, I think we take these for granted because they always do that even in their regular performances, but when you see them against other groups, you start to see the differences, at least I do. So yes, I do think the expert ranking for them was fair this round. Now for BTOTB, from a purely enjoyment perspective they were tops for me. The backstage concept was so clever with each member highlighted. The flow from one scene to the next was perfect and the finale, it made me want to stand up with my hand in the air and rock with them. I think they lost points due to technicalities from the experts, but their performance was definitely a crowd pleaser. All the groups voted for them, and also SF9, which reflects how well regarded they are and how the group evaluation points balance out the experts.

Victoria

i'm not ranking these groups anymore because they're all doing incredible jobs and i can't choose lmaoooo. as an atiny though i'm so happy ateez placed first :)

kisa1909

I don't vote but if I were ranking I'd go iKON, BtoB, Stray Kids, and then SF9. I just wasn't feeling Ateez's arrangement at all even though their performance and everything was great. I enjoyed The Boyz but for some reason their performance didn't stick with me (honestly I think I'm too attached to the original song), so I'd place those two tied at the bottom. I about threw hands when I.N. got asked that question near the end though. Poor kid. I was already tearing up when his note went awry during the performance b/c I knew he'd be upset over it and I wasn't ready to see him cry lol.

Paulina K.

This time I was taking into consideration the theme the most. Since the theme was "re-born", they should really almost make a new song instead of just doing a cover. It should be like their own track. And just to be clear, I stan all of these groups, so I have no intention of hating on them or anything, even if I will say something critical. ____ Because of the theme, Stray Kids are 6th for me. This was "I'll be your man" by BTOB, covered by Stray Kids, not Stray Kids' "I'll be your man". Also, Stray Kids have amazing vocalists, but to be honest, the original version was better.. I think they chose the wrong song. They were at a disadvantage here and didn't do anything to make the song more suited for them. Instead, they tried to do it like BTOB (which is impossible if you're not BTOB), so that's why unfortunately they are last for me here. THE BOYZ I would place at 5th. Similar to Stray Kids, "O Sole Mio" was still very SF9 song here, not THE BOYZ. They made the latin pop song a little more latin, but that's it. They are higher than Stray Kids in my ranking, because their song choice was still better, it worked with their voices. I would say it was a really good cover, but again - the song wasn't "re-born". I could still hear SF9 singing it, while watching THE BOYZ performance. ____ For the rest of the groups it's pretty close competition, because they all did amazing, amazing job at making the songs into their own tracks. To the point, were I forgot to which group the original song belongs. ____ The 4th place would be iKON. I think they did great job with arranging "Inception". I could feel iKON's vibe from it, but still it was not completely iKON's song. After thinking more about it, I came to the conclusion that iKON have such a distinctive style in their music and melodies, that I can tell they are not the original artist, even if this performance was very iKON-like. The only 100% iKON part was the added refrain. That's noticeable to me, but just because I know them too well. 3rd place would be ATEEZ. They managed to transform "Rhythm Ta" into a real ATEEZ song, and a very ATEEZ-like performance. I couldn't even recognize the original track in it, at all. The original is very rap-heavy, and that rap is extremely distinct, because of Bobby's and B.I's tones and styles of rapping. ATEEZ took that out, so they took out the essence of the song, and instead added a bunch of their own signature, distinctive parts - like Hongjoon's rap section, Jongho's high notes and chanting together while dancing powerfully. They were just amazing, I completely understand why they are 1st place. Between BTOB and SF9 it's really hard to choose for me, because both groups not only made others' songs completely their own, like ATEEZ did, but what sets them apart from ATEEZ is that I would even prefer to listen to their re-born versions more than the original ones (personal opinion). If I have to choose, BTOB are unrivaled in this round. They were just perfect and while watching them, I completely forgot I'm watching the show. I was so immersed in their "Back Door" performance and I was having so much fun, that only the cuts to the reactions reminded me it's a show, not a concert 😂 So, SF9 would be 2nd in my ranking. Their version of "The Stealer" suited them so well (and was so much my style!), that I was extremely excited throughout their whole performance. I just want to listen to that (and look at that) over and over again. So I guess it's really just my personal preference, but I'm happy I apparently have similar opinion with the Kingdom groups, since SF9 are 2nd now thanks to their votes. So my ranking is: 1. BTOB / 2. SF9 / 3. ATEEZ / 4. iKON / 5. THE BOYZ / 6. Stray Kids PS.: I always watch the whole reaction, with all the comments. I like watching "Kingdom" for the 2nd time here. I can focus more on the performances, when I'm not fangirling at every little thing, because I've already seen them 😅

Kaila

I love all of these groups and hate rankings because they are all so talented and deserve first place so I'm always rooting for all of them. One thing I will say that has been very difficult is that ATEEZ was one of the first groups I discovered when I first got into KPOP so I've known them the longest and feel extra protective over them so for me it's very upsetting to see so many people bringing them down when professionals and the other teams are the ones who voted them into first place. With that being said, I loved all of the performances and I will say Stray Kids was very impressive for me and I actually found myself getting emotional watching their performance and I was glad to see that SF9 really stepped it up this round as well. P.S. I also watch the entire reaction through because I appreciate that when I watch your reactions I don't feel that you have any bias towards a certain group which I love because I sometimes sense bias with other reactors which is completely fine but I just enjoy non-biased reactions from a more professional viewpoint.

Sandy Cai

I really really appreciate you taking time to evaluate each performances and making your ranking based on your criteria. Honestly we have the same ranking. It somehow justifies what I personally thought of the performances that someone else thinks the same. I'm also shocked by the evaluation, I really wanna know why they ranked them like that. If they could at least release a set of criteria being follow by these experts then maybe we can understand or justify the rankings. Like in every competition televised or not, there is a set of criteria. But I guess since these are industry experts, it may also be subjective for them. Idk. I just hope SKZ understand that we super love them showing off their rap and vocal skills and this was way better than the last round. I hope they do great on the next. I just thought SKZ and BTOB performance was the most impactful, memorable and over all really good performance and use of the concept. SKZ - the original meaning of the I'll Be Your Man song of BTOB is towards the love of a significant other (lover) and they changed that concept to a previous someone symbolized by the little boy and tried to make sacrifices and prayers to be able to bring him back. Seungmin and Han duet at the end with Changbin non-stop rapping behind really complimented it giving me chills everytime. And I think it was Bangchan who hit the super high note in the end before IN's verse. Really captivating performance. BTOB - Backdoor on the other hand is mainly interpreted by SKZ towards their fans and welcoming new ones that it is an exclusive place that they can come in to see what SKZ got. And they used the actual meaning of a backdoor instead and interpret it as if on a real show or concert which was brilliant idea. Really really love the arrangement SF9 and IKON, straight of the bat I understood the concept and was a really good over all performance as well. Super love SF9 and IKON's chorus dances everytime it hits. Really enjoyed it. I apologize to Ateez and TBZ fans.. just a personal thought.. I like the concept of Ateez but it got a little overwhelming for me just like what happened to SKZ first round performance that a bit too much or all over the place. Maybe I should watch it a few more times to fully understand it. Same with TBZ TBZ - I didn't quite grasp the concept of the girl inside the cage but I super love the dance in the first chorus. That was the most memorable part for me. And I think because the fire didn't properly ignite and worked, the part where they were in the LED screen it was too dark.

Anonymous

For me my ranking would be 1. Sf9- bcz I really like the concept and the execution of the performance, I never really liked the THE STEALER but their arrangement of it made me add it to my playlist 2. Stray kids- I loved this performance, I didn't like their last performance too much but this performance was really enjoyable 3. BTOB- again I didn't like BACK DOOR but the way they flipped I could replay it over and over, and the concept was amazing 4. Ateez- the way they changed Ikon's song into a completely different song unlike the original was great, and the choreography as expected of Ateez was amazing 👏🏽 5. The Boyz- I liked it alot but it wasn't my favorite performance of their's 6. Ikon- I'm really sorry and this might be an unpopular opinion but I really just didn't like it, like the way they changed it was very YG and I don't really enjoy typical YG music and also Bobby is one of my favorite KRappers but is rap seemed out of place for me

Michael Choi

I think it's good that personal rankings are all over the place. It means that all the groups did well enough that it probably comes down to personal preferences...even for the expert judges. This was something that was brought up in Queendom too at times. One thing I do notice is that some people resonate with concepts because they've seen the show that inspired it (i.e. Ateez and Money Heist). Same thing happened with Oneus and Kingdom (zombie-show) in RtK. I like SKZ a lot but they should avoid concepts that require a lot of explanation. It felt unnecessarily dark and I had no idea why the kid was important to them. On the other hand, I remember the groups having a chance to explain their concepts in RtK since they were filming the (scripted) creative process more. We're not seeing that as much this season.

Anonymous

Ok, you made me listen to the original I'll be Your Man by BTOB...I see your point. I give them props for taking on this challenge but yeah it's difficult to go against the original and for that reason, changing up the song a bit more to make it a more "Stray Kids" song would have benefited them while still highlighting their vocal range this round. I wonder if that was a primary reason for the expert rating....like do they all listen to the original first for comparison?

Anonymous

Jeff! To answer your question about what parts of your reactions I watch, I watch the whole thing! I actually refrain from watching the full episodes of things until I can watch it with your reactions. It's like having a friend to watch a show with haha it's more engaging to me that way.

I've been trying to figure out the experts' criteria for this round, if there even is one. At first, I thought maybe they judged strictly based on the theme these groups were given which was "Reborn" - to do a cover song but in their own unique way. Because in that case, I can see how BTOB & SKZ were ranked lower since their covers matched more closely to the original songs, while groups like ATZ and IKON really changed up the songs to fit their own style. But if this was the criteria, then I wouldn't understand how TBZ was placed 2nd as their cover matched closely to the original as well. If the criteria was solely based on the skills shown in the performances then just like your ranking, I agree SKZ and BTOB deserve to be 1st and 2nd for this round. I'm actually leaning towards the experts probably not having any criteria, and are voting based on how they felt. It's been mentioned that these experts are in different areas of profession too (vocal/performance directors, lyricists, composers, critics, etc.) so I suppose they're also judging based on only the areas they're most familiar with... maybe.

Beppeli

The missing member in Ateez is Mingi, one of the rappers. He's on hiatus because he's recovering from psychological anxiety. Maybe you confused it with Hyunjin from Stray Kids? He's absent because of bullying rumors; and before anyone come at me... I don't care if it's true or not, I don't have an opinion on this. Anyways,... This is my ranking after their second performance: 1) Ateez - they definitely deserve to be first; everything from arrangement to story line to performance was amazing 2) SF9 / BTOB 3) BTOB / SF9 these two groups are tied for me. They had a great concept and their performances were rocking the stage. 4) The Boyz / IKON 5) IKON / The Boyz I liked both, but they weren't as impactful as SF9 or BTOB in my opinion. 6) Stray Kids - I don't care if I get bad comments for this, but I think they are overhyped. Yeah, Changbin's rap was good, Han and Seungmin nailed the high notes and the dancing was ok. But for me there was something missing... There was no "wow"-effect like with BTOB or even IKON. So I'm relatively happy with the results of this round; but let's be real, in the end probably the group with the bigger fandom will get the cookie since they have more people who can push up the views and the global voting. Regardless of that I defintely enjoy watchin you reacting to Kingdom.

LisMM

I definitely agree with you on Skz missing the wow factor. They sung really well but felt 0 connection to the stage. It just felt unnecessarily dark, the arrangement really didn’t do much for me and the storyline had way too much going on so I was just confused lol. I kinda wish views and global voting took up a lower percentage of the final score but oh well. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Natalia Kuroś

I just like watching it together with you Jeff - your comments and thoughts are making watching this more entertaining. When now I'm thinking about this it's like watching a sport event with a professional comment!

Matt Vesliño

I think everyone was torn this week with the rankings. I've compared my own with a lot of other people as well, and no single person has the same ranking with each other, and also with the experts. The criteria that the experts use feel incredibly arbitrary at this point.

Cinthia Ojeda

This is a complete rollercoaster

Miya Jennings

I like to watch the full reaction. I like your commentary and insight Jeff. P.S. Btob Minhyuk reminds me so much of TXT Soobin it's scary lol.

Yea that's the only consolation for me is that everyone has totally different rankings that that must mean everyone is so evenly matched and did so well....right :))

RisingSunbebe

I'm still watching - I'm at your ranking part and this is probably the first time I completely agree with you - my ranking is your ranking, I couldn't agree more with everything you said about everyone... I'm curious to see your reaction to the ranking they got now... but I really feel weird about the experts tbh... I mean, I don't watch Kingdom for the rankings and I'm a fan of most of the groups here, I mostly watch for the performances and interactions between groups (that we definitely need more), but I still get affected by the ranking as it sometimes (or this time in Kingdom) doesn't really seem fair (and it feels like a lot of it is personal preference - and some difficult stuff seem to be underappreciated)... so yeah... I don't remember if you watched Queendom, but that show seemed to be more fair to me tbh? But yeah... we'll see how it will all go.

Long text incoming!! My personal rankings ATEEZ - They did their absolut best. Everything from the arrangement of the song to the choreography and everything inbetween was excuted amazingly. The Edenary guys are honestly gods among men, i want to kiss their brain for all these incredible ideas they keep coming up with. And the boys deserve every praise they get for taking all these concept ideas and bringing them to life. Because at the end of the day, it doesn't matter how many great concepts you come up with, if you can't manage to bring that to the stage and perform it accordingly. BTOB - WOW, just wow. i went into Kingdom not knowing much about BTOB and i am happy to announce that i am officially in love. They did the asolute most for this performance and i am so glad they did. Peniels rap mixed a lot better with the rest of the song in this round than the previous rounds and i love how we get to follow them through the ''back door'' in a song called back door. A really well executed and beautiful concept. SF9 - Similar to BTOB, i really didn't know anything about these guys before kingdom and their previous performances haven't really gotten to me that much. But this performance really did it for me. I loved the acting involved in this and i really didn't feel like it took away from the rest of the performance that much. They had a clear concept from start to finish and i feel like they did a good job of highlighting different memebrs here. If i have to criticize one thing, it is probably the arrangement of the song itself, it feels like they kept to much of the original song instead of changing it up and making it their own. Ikon - I LOVE their arrangement of inception. I love the fact that they took out the chorus and completly changed it. They simlply understood the assaignment. When if comes to the arrangment of the songs, i think i put ikon first because they did what they were supposed to do. And i loved their performance, the last part of the performance is still stuck in my head. The only reason they are in 4th place for me is honestly because i like the other groups overall performance better. TBZ - Again, amazing performance. Probably my favorite performance of them on kingdom so far. Also chanhee( or is it New? i have heard different things regarding what fans call him) is an amazing vocalist. Also i have claimed Sunwoo as my bias and he is the literall best and i accept no criticism on that. One problem i had with this performance though is that the storyline is hard to understand. I have watched game of thrones and i know what the red wedding is but i still don't really get where they were going with the storyline, so if someone could explain that to me, i would be eternally greatful. Also i feel they stuck way to much to the original song instead of chanigng it. SKZ - I really admire they boys for trying something different and showing the public a different side of them. The song itself is crazy hard to sing and once again i admire the guys, specially Seungmin and Han for really going for it. I.N voice crack wasn't that visible for me personally but i get why it affected him the way it did. Changbin is a monster performer honestly and did a really good job. Now the reason i ranked tham last is that i personally feel like just like TBZ and sf9 they also stuck to the original song a bit to much my liking. I also felt kind of detached to the storyline. it took me till the end of the performance to understand the overall theme of them sacrificing themselves to save the boy and even then it felt like i was missing a lot of the pieces. I personally think they should have either chosen a different song or made the concept a lot more clearer. Random thought - this is mainly directed to those who followed RTK and remember what RAVI(VIXX) said to VERIVERY when they performed their song PHOTO with a nightmare concept? What he basically said was that when it comes to conceptual perfomance, the audience has to understand the concept without you having to explain it to them. It all kind of becomes meaningless if the people watching your performance don't get the overall concept untill the end of the performance or without you explaining it afterwards. I really agree with him and i feel like that is what alot of groups in KD struggle with. The concepts are sometimes to complicated for the viewer to understand and that makes the viewer feel detached to the performance. That is honestly what i want to see from these groups in the coming rounds, a concept that is very simple to understand. I think all 6 groups did amazing and deserve all the praise they can get. And at the end of the day, the rankings don't really matter because there isn't much a group will gain by winning Kingdom or lose by coming last. The groups are most likely very much aware of that but I think fans treat the show as if it is a lot more important than it really is and that is what leads to alot of angry fans pointing fingers at every direction everytime their fave don't rank higher.

The fact that Skz made 8 rings and Hyunjin's ring was on the statue of the boy they were trying to save in the performance while the other members were all wearing their rings makes me want to cry. For this round I don't even care about the rankings. I'm just so touched by the performance and SO proud that they showed a different side to themselves. The fanwars are upsetting but the best thing we can do it ignore it and support our boys.

Thank you for wording everything I wanted to say about the performances. My best ones would be STRAY KIDS - Contrast of what others thought of, the storyline is clear even on first watch. They kept the song but had the ‘concept’ reborn — to be the man for their precious one. Then they were to able to showcase themselves being all-rounders, live live vocals is a plus. (I felt like I.N intended to do that vocal cry. It was supposed to sound that way - a break, a helpless tone. He just felt underwhelmed with his performance as a performer) BTOB - I like how I was able to experience the ‘reborn’ Backdoor stage with them. It has the rewatch value for me. Then the rest, IKON and SF9 - For these two, there are parts that may not be there and it’s still okay. Their performance is good. I really like IKON’s main parts. I keep repeating their imagery in my head. SF9’s still feels a bit the tbzstealer for me. I cave in on their vibe tho. ATEEZ and THE BOYZ - Don’t get me wrong, ATZ are crazy good. I just feel like everytime I watch them I knew there will be a super highnote from Jongho towards the end. While TBZ have so much presence and make used most of the stage. I kept singing the chorus in my head yet I think of the solo parts and that’s it. P.S Yes, I’m one of those who watches everything. I watch when it airs, then with subs and currently watching three reactors of Kingdom including you. Haha. P.P.S. As you mentioned SLUMP, I would like to recommend “SLUMP THE FIRST TAKE”. It is a one-take live performance of that song, and it is soooooooooooo good. Please react to it. <3

My ranking is 1. BTOB ( not just because of shirtless squirrel Minhyuk lol) the over all feel is just fire. Their arrangement is awesome. The live vocals is awesome (given the one of them Changsub isn't feeling well at that time) it's worth the re watch. I love the arrangement and how they performed the song. So creative! 2. IKON- they flipped the song and made it their own. I love the vocals. And the big choreo at the end is just amazing. I love this version. 3. SF9 - it gave me that wow factor. The stunts were super awesome, vocals on point. They showed their different colors and made a wonderful stage. I agree when you said that it's like a chill/sexy version. 4. Stray Kids - I'm super surprised with the vocals. I'll be your man is a difficult song. I was speechless too. It has that lingering feeling. Haunting yet beautiful. The story line is superb. 5. TBZ- great concept. I love the partner work. I've watched the boyz since rtk. They're really amazing. In this episode it's so hard to do the ranking because all of them leveled up 6. ATEEZ - their style and charisma is great on stage. I just feel like in this round, the arrangement didn't do it for me. ( please don't go after me, it's just my opinion) Overall this round it's very difficult to do the ranking. All of them did an amazing job. The performance are all fire. I'm super excited for next week!

My Top 2 would be the same as yours! I don't want to rank the rest, because they all did such an amazing job! And like you said: To rank them is so hard because they all were so amazing. To say that I was quite shocked when I saw the ranking of the Professionals would be an understatement. haha But I read that out of those 30 so-called "Professionals" 20 spots are filled with investors. Only the other 10 are filled with actual professionals, like two vocal coaches. If you read mnets statement, they say that one vocal coach couldn't make it for those two episodes so they invited another investor. Which lead to 21 Investors and 9 Professionals rating their stages. That might explain the ranking a little. At least to me, it's more understandable now, since I know what kind of Experts mnet has to rate the stages. Can't wait for the sports episode this week! :)

They do look alike, the two even took a picture together once because of it

Agree on SF9, their stage looked like what The Boyz would perform at a Year End show or at MAMA. None the less I think it was a great performance which showcased all of SF9’s skills

The ranking was also a big shock for me ! We had the same 3 bottoms et top teams but in different orders ! I think professionals are looking for sophisticated staging but for me you doesn't need that so that the performance has an impact ... I really enjoyed btob skz and ikon performances ! It pains me because I have this feelings vocals and song's arrangement don't have the same values as decor, stunts and dancing in this show for professionals ...

I really love the last two paragraphs of your comment, it’s what I’ve been meaning to explain but your words describe it precisely on point

I wouldn't think of choosing a different rank to the judges as getting it wrong. We don't know who they are or what criteria they're judging on. I wish they'd just rank 1-3. Everyone's taking it so hard when they get last place or drop ranks, when they all did so well, stretched themselves, and showed off their talents to fans & potential fans. I watched the full performances before the show, and personally, my first & second actually were ATEEZ and SF9. The Boyz & IKON were at the bottom for me - not because they did badly, but because the other performances appealed to me more.

ATEEZ isn't my favourite group on the show, but they're the ones I had the highest expectations for before the show began. So far I've been impressed every time, exactly for the reasons you mention (although this is the first time I ranked them first).

winchesterlives

i strongly agree with you ranking, skz and btob deserved better from the "experts", but they all did good so ig we cant really discredit any of the groups ranking high...
