That was a lot of fun to revisit after all these years. You can see shades of his style that he would hone in on over the years. The scene where they're shooting guns out in the fied in particular stood out as his style.

This is easily the best Owen Wilson performance for me he just adds sooooo much life to this film that I’ve never experienced him do in other films, I guess this isn’t the best shot Anderson film but every single scene is great, the first act is chaotically hilarious, the second act at the hotel is so much fun plus a insanely cute love story blooms, the main characters break up by way of their differences manifesting not out of convenience, and the third act is just one of the funniest spins on a heist I’ve seen. Brilliant and underrated film for sure
