This movie scratches an itch of "fine" scripts elevated massively by a set of incredibly talented people working earnestly. You mentioned the pace of the movie, and I agree it's high paced. But it manages to feel like that while using longer, lingering shots when appropriate. Something that takes immense skill in cinematography, editing, and directing to pull off. My biggest recommendation for movies in a similar vein is "Arlington Road". Jeff Bridges and Tim Robbins in the lead roles with Joan Cusack supporting. It's written by the guy that wrote Scream 3, which isn't a huge endorsement but I thought it was a fun coincidence.
