When I started the channel two and a half years ago, I essentially just used everything I already had at my disposal. I had good equipment that I'd already been using for a while and so it got me off to a good start quality-wise. However, when I found that the equipment I already had actually worked decently well for filming reactions I just kind of went with it. They weren't the best for that sort of video, especially in my case when filming at my tv instead of on a pc, but it was good enough at the start so I didn't change anything. For about the last year or so, little annoyances with my current recording setup and editing process that didn't seem like much at the start have really started to build and often completely demotivate me from wanting to record. I slowly changed a few things over time, like getting actual lighting equipment for a proper setup instead of the one light beaming into my eyes that I used for the first year and a bit, which helped with visual fatigue. But even with those changes there's still been a lot that's been a hassle with making the videos, especially after taking the time to set up the recording equipment for gaming videos and seeing how much easier an actual proper setup made filming and editing there. So after two and a half years of never really taking the time to put together a more dedicated filming setup, I spent a ton of time the past few months to research, test out and purchase equipment. There weren't as many uploads and edits the past few months as a result, which I know is unfortunate, but part of the reason I never did this before was because I never wanted to get behind on videos by spending time putting it together. In the end though it's cost way more time and created more underperformance because I'd gotten so fed up with the current setup and all its little issues that I just wouldn't want to record/edit most days. Some of these new changes you'll notice right away and will be obvious, like for example finally getting a nice mic stand that fits my room and use-case, and switching from using my speaker setup when recording to using headphones (that change in particular was actually quite difficult and took a lot of time in order to find something that worked well with exactly what I needed for recording). The new microphone I started using recently was also a part of this process, but what you didn't see was the many hours I spent researching how to more properly level and EQ my audio and then practicing implementing those changes on each video. Previously I'd just use the raw audio and then individually keyframe levels throughout the whole recordings because that's what I knew when I started the channel. There's also other changes that you may never even notice that are more on the editing side of things/subtle changes that just help streamline things or ease the process a bit.

This all may seem like such a simple and easy thing, but when you've been in a routine for so long, especially one with technology, breaking out of it and learning new equipment, as well as taking time away from making as much content, is anything but simple and easy. It's definitely not perfect and I don't want to get stuck in a routine again so I'll keep slightly adjusting things/learning as I go along, but where I've arrived currently is so much better for my recording situation than what I'd had previously. I didn't really want to make too many changes and experiment before I'd finished Better Call Saul, since that and Breaking Bad have been a main series for the channel since it's beginning, and changes to how I recorded/edited those could've thrown people off. I also wanted to have a majority of the changes done before October since there's so much I've wanted to watch this month, so all that played a large factor into why these past few months in particular were when I really wanted to spend a lot of time towards that.

With all of that in mind, I hope you enjoy the new changes and also enjoy getting more reactions/commentaries because of it!

I noticed that audio is often overlooked in reaction channels. Not that i blame them or anything, as you are well aware it takes a lot of finessing to get right.

Some of the most well-edited reactions I've seen on YT have been yours. I'm glad that your new gear will make things easier for you, and that you'll have greater enthusiasm for making videos going forward. Great news! The Scream movies are a blast, so I'm most excited to see how you like them.
