Hell yeah, really blindsided me. One of my favorite action flicks and the one Roger Ebert and me disagreed about the most (Cloud Atlas and his love for it easily being the one I align with entirely in contrast).

Also: Gangs of London is a real banger too from Gareth Evans with many of his signature idioms finding their way into the show. Possibly not quite as well-liked, but if you enjoy the Raid movies, this is probably right up your alley and it was pretty acclaimed either way.

As for the movie itself: I just love everything. The choreography alone could carry the movie, but the plot is sufficiently intriguing and all the other elements really tie everything together - it's incredible how much you can make pure gray and rotting buildings look like heaven. Huge, huge shoutout to Mike Shinoda too, the dude makes incredible music and I loved his quarantine music production streams so much. Insanely humble too, and he entirely captured the tone of the movie. What a huge theme tease too you noticed, Brandon, I still remember my first time watching it and getting hooked by that little hook ultimately closing out the movie. Acting is pretty solid as well, and I just dig getting into all kinds of different cultures and their idioms (or how the writers and directors in this case frame them) - very accessible movie but the subtitles betray some interesting idioms and language, another thing that captures my eye. Gorgeous flick. As others pointed out, Raid 2 is pretty much as great as the first part. I am baffled by how good of a team you can get together to make a movie.

Night Comes For Us has the main guy from the Raid and a couple of the other actors and the fight scenes are just as epic. It's on netflix

holy crap, best action/fighter film i've ever seen!!!! eman's movie reviews made me interested because he said was phenomenal so then to see you watch it and i could watch along was a done deal!!! wow, most creative kills, great cinematography, awesome stunts. i am telling everyone to watch this

That cop from the first fight with the main bad guy (who fought the brothers later) was in the tv show Warrior and played Sub Zero in the new Mortal Kombat film. He's great.
