Always Sunny S14E10 (Waiting for Big Mo) Full Length Reaction

This episode is a big metaphor for the show. The base is the show, Dennis wants to stick to the formula and not experiment, the rest want to do what they want to do even if it means they wont be recognized as much. Big Mo represents a newer show coming in. Theres a lot more you can read into in this episode if you want.

Also, the title and episode reference the play Waiting for Godot, which also has two characters on screen in a fixed location, the other characters coming in and out, and some heavy existentialism

There's also the metaphor about the show being the game itself. Like you said, how to play is kind of how to do the show. but there's a huge discussion throughout about whether they should keep playing. They feel like they've been playing (doing the show) forever, and don't really have much to show for it (awards) except money (dolla dolla bills). I think there was a lot of uncertainty on whether the show would keep going after this season (before FX greenlight a few more years), so this was kind of them poking fun at whether they've been doing this for too long and whether they should shut it down.

Here we go, season 15 is one of the best imo

Holy shit I've never looked at it like that, changes the entire episode for me. Before it was just a fun gag but now it means so much more. I love it. I will say that if I had recognized this going into it and before knowing there was more (and especially now before the podcast) I'd be very concerned there was some truth to them wanting to give it up. At least with the podcast we can be almost certain that isn't true, they seem to genuinely love the show still

Seeing this live, and not knowing that there was going to be a season fifteen, was so intense. With this episode being a metaphor for the show itself, I was crying when they said they were leaving and stopping the show “letting big mo”—a new show—take their place. Then as big mo came in and they said they weren’t going anywhere I literally clapped and laughed and cried all simultaneously. So wonderfully written and such an amazing show. Excited for you to watch season fifteen and watch the new seasons live! :) :)

The music at the beginning of the episode is from Symphonie Fantastique, the last moment entitled Dream of a Witches’ Sabbath. It was written by the French composer Hector Berlioz in 1830.
