Fargo S3E8 (Who Rules the Land of Denial?) Full Length Reaction

Apotheosis

The bowling alley scene is my favorite scene in Fargo. I guess because of the poeticism and unexpectedness.

The man in the bowling ally is the figure of the Wandering Jew. He's a character created in Medieval Europe. He supposedly mocked Jesus as he died on the Cross, and for that God punished him to an eternity of wandering the Earth from place to place never being able to rest in one place (hence why he was constantly traveling when we met him in episode 3). BTW this isn't a spoiler as it comes from outside knowledge of the show as the show never states who he is exactly.

Yeah, just like the whole UFO thing in season 2, just a "supernatural" element that they like to mess with. It also ties to Varga's speech to Emmit when they're at Ray's place. "Perception is reality. Perhaps I'm not here, perhaps I never existed" or something of the sorts.

I don’t know if it’s just a coincidence but at the beginning of the episode, there is a shot with Yurri and cie wearing mask in the woods on the side of the road and the lighting from the bus reminded me of a famous shot from The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.

The bowling alley scene is one of my all-time favorites of any show. It threw the whole setting for a spin but that's been the case in prior seasons too with the UFOs, etc.
