Fun fact re Cameron Diaz - Michael Ovitz left running Disney to create this company and his top clients were DiCaprio, Diaz and Scorsese - DiCaprio used all of his power gained from Titanic to get Gangs of New York made for Scorsese (who had been trying to make it for 20 years) so that's how this movie happened and why Diaz is in it. She was known as a top tier comedy actress, but after her arresting turn in 1999's Being John Malkovich, there was a period where she went for the Oscar. Never happened, but she has always been considered a star of Demi Moore and Drew Barrymore's magnitude, which... while it isn't Julia Roberts or Meryl Streep, was quite the respectable position in Hollywood.
